Last I checked Olentangy Liberty, Navy and Central Michigan aren't on our schedule. Let's see how he does against the big boys. Not saying he doesn't have what it takes, just that we need to wait and see.
ha! very true! but i have followed his career also (i'm in Dublin, my son went to coffman with him) and i think he has it as well.
But - we'll see!

U need to quit talking about things U know nothing about ... and ND/wies are clearly in that category ... U obviously do not know enough about ND then or now to bring any RELEVANT INFO to a discusiion about them ... so please DON'T DO IT ...
and let me take care of talking about BQ .... I do not need your help ... but thanks for the thought ...
Hel 6 - 2 the rest of the way ... *L* ... no one is hogher on BQ than me .. but DA was not nearly the BIGGEST or ONLY problem with this O ...... so expecting 6 - 2 from ANY QB is just setting your expectations way beyond reality ....
I understand your excited and the anticipation is at frenzy level ... but dude .. u need to get a grip and come back from Never Never Land with the expectations ... hes a QB ... not a magician ...

Actually, I just kinda hoped he pans out well for your fantasy team,...still don't understand why you imagined I said you said he was a choker, because I didn't. The phrase "supplied" by the draft pundits does intimate such however -- "never won a significant game." I was just pointing out that I saw him win plenty of those in high school.

don't make me go back and dig up my pre-draft posts detailing those games ... i don't wanna but if U make me i will ...
DnD ... the case is far from closed ... FAR FROM CLOSED ... I wanna believe him for many many reasons that reach far beyond this decision ... and the way he worded it I am leaning toward believing him as he could have said the decision was his in many different ways and he chose very strong words and said them with conviction ...
BUT ... there are many motives to why he could have said what he did (witch was actually the only thing he could have said) ... that need to be explored and pondered and ALLOWED TO PLAY OUT before we just bury our heads in the sand and believe him at face value ....

I'm excited for change (no play on the politics theme of recent days).
I don't know anything about how Quinn will perform on the big stage....but I KNOW what da can do (or not do). da isn't the future. Quinn may be. We'll find out within the next one and a half seasons.
Brady Quinn for president!

The other thing to say to you is this.. U act as though Rac doesn't have any common sense..that he just exists..
He talks to Phil and his coaches..just as anyone in any organization does. Its at those times issues are brought up and discussed.. I do believe him when he said they have talked about it for a while.. HOW the heck could you not?? He admitted he started to pull him in the Cincy game but stuck with him. I could wager that Phil who has supported DA , is running thin on that support.. It may have been tossed around that they can't go through another game where yards and points are left on the field..oh and the fact that DA didn't bounce back after several miscues..
It may have been in Racs mind he wasn't going to continue to watch the offense struggle and the support start to wane. It's no secret why DA is liked..big arm..quick release.. But he doesn't make the best decisions..he has no finesse in his throws..and he doesn't see the field as good as he should.. On one hand Rac coulda thought in his mind, I need to change this before it gets worse.. He coulda discussed it with Phil and he suggest that it's your call but here's how I see it.. So I really don't think he lied..I think he may have thought of it , spoken about it and he and Phil agreed.. The OC/QB coach didn't agree with the decision..and I'm sure they voiced it ..
The point is people want Rac to step up and make a decision..then when he does..you all get in a frenzy that he didn't and this was a wrong choice..blah blah blah.. In my mind , I don't feel it's the right time..but I'll see what happens.
I have other issues with the coach outside of this decision..

Well, ND would have beat USC had the refs called the "Bush Push". Regardless, Quinn put them in a position to win that game and the defense let him down (hey, that's football). To say he never won a game of importance doesn't tell the whole story.
Anyway, it's all in the past. We can start debating over his NFL results now.

Prove it. I don't think you can...Not that I doubt those pre-draft posts exsist, but rather your feeble brain can't handle such a dunting task as to use the search function...
I don't think we have a shot in hell of going 6-2 unless the play calling gets dramatically better. I think we will see a 3 pick game from Quinn, but I don't think we will see any sub 50% passing days (unless he throws a lot to BE ).
He is going to need time to develop, but I doubt the majority of Browns fans will give him enough time. He may have had a year and a half to prepare, but he will need game experience as well.

I'm not. I've seen plenty. This is a quality NFL QB. A guy that can certainly guide this very explosive offensive team.
Not if you are a former first round pick from the state of Ohio. Just curious - does a 'quality NFL QB' have to play in any regular season games at all to be called quality?

Who else is thrilled!
Not me. I am excited though. He has now been waiting in the wings for a year and a half and now he gets a chance to prove he was worthy of the pick.
I am waiting for the enevitable attacks on him when he has a couple of bad games. I think he deserves a chance to grow into the job but I'm afraid to many fans won't allow it.
DA didn't get that luxery, so why should BQ? Since the day Quinn was drafted people were crying out for him to start over DA. People have been waiting for DA to screw the pooch so they can see our golden boy play. From what I saw at ND and his preseason performances, I'm not impressed. Although Quinn is deserving of a chance, not under these circumstances.
DA should still be starting this week because he has been improving on a weekly basis. After the Cincy game I was calling for the yanking of DA, rightly so. But since the Giants and Jags games, I can help but think that something is there in Anderson and we just have to be patient with him.

NRTU punch...
Looking at whats coming into today. The more I think about it, the more excited I get.
I look back at the college careers of these two...Derek put up record numbers in the Pac-10 and at his school. Record Numbers, but his team was consistently mediocre. Look at Cleveland. He puts up numbers but is consistently mediocre.
Brady Quinn took miserable talent at ND (Samardzija, Stovall, Walker being the only names noteworthy) and made them a BCS contender every year. He took terrible talent and made it good. That excites me because we have some talent here.
Im excited, but its tempered.
We do still have a 7th rounder as our #2 (ive no hope for Stallworthless-this-year to play) and a #1 with the worst case of dropsies Ive seen in a long long time...its like Q Morgan while holding onto bricks. pitiful. We have a volatile TE who is in some kind of existential funk...i say this because he cant seem to coexist and/or cooperate with a team. We have a #3 who hasnt played a down and wont this year, maybe ever in JoeJ.
DropsE17, Steptoe, Angry the Winslow, and Cribbs aren overly scary as a WR corps. I feel like Heiden will have a productive day.
Lucky for us...Denvers D is much maligned. Their two captains are out, and theyre banged up across the board. We should be able to take advantage of that early and often. Chud do your HW...please.
Im excited because Denvers D reminds me of a Sieve. well, a broken one, anything gets through.
Jamal should have his best game. Harrison better get touches, more Wright. Also, Brady should do good, theyre going to have to blanket Edwards because he possesses the most talent, so We're going to be able to use KW2, Steptoe, Heiden, and Cribbs/Sanders effectively, if they can get open.
This really is a good game to start Brady. Forget his short week of practice, hes been practicing all year. Maybe not with the starters, but its not like their timing has been anything to rave about. Denver has very little time to do HW on him, and we're home, and their D is reeling. It really is a good game to start him. and thats what he needs.
the more i think, the more excited I get.
"It has to start somewhere It has to start somehow What better place than here? What better time than now?"

I think da had that chance. He started 15 games last year and 8 this year. This season, he's the 2nd worst rated QB in the NFL (only behind J.Russell of Oakland). In three of the five games we lost, we had the ball near the end and da didn't get the job done. You can blame the defense, the wind, the drops or Obama.....but a QB's job is to score when it counts and win games. The play that ended the Ravens game was his fault. Plain and simple.
Like I said before, being a QB or coach in the NFL isn't always fair. You get all the blame for the loss and all the credit for the win. With a 3-5 record, da was rightfully benched in my opinion.

as sad as it is and as much as i like rac as a person, i'm starting to jump on that train of thought too. to be fair though, all the fans hated when he said things like "we'll have a chance" so now that he says "we'll beat denver," it's not the fairest to rip him for that too.
that said, he's looking more and more like a figurehead and if that's the case, it might be time to look at someone else.

Because two wrongs don't make a right. DA was attacked early and often by our fans. I don't want to see a repeat with Quinn. I feel pretty safe in saying that Quinn will get more benefit of the doubt than DA. I just don't think we can stay the course.

Dong, let me be as forthcoming as I can be here, without risk of hurting peoples feelings:
Fans who want and/or expect the coach, GM, or owner to be honest and forthright are idiots.
Why? Because being honest and forthright is never the way to go. In today's NFL, the media, the fans, and the other team are ALWAYS looking for that angle, that story, that motivational quote that can be used to forward an agenda.
Ask an open-ended question about the QB then interpret that answer by suggesting it means something else.
Ask an open-ended question about a head coach then interpret that answer by suggesting it means something else.
Ever hear of the dreaded "vote of confidence" that comes from a GM or owner?
Yeah, I rest my case.
When you're the coach, you can't come out and state your team is going to beat another team. That's just moronic! RAC was just fine with saying Anderson was the QB "as of right now" because that wasn't something people didn't allready know. This statement about the Broncos was an act of bravado designed to fire up his team or show passion. Fine, the only problem is that isn't his job to do in front of the media
RAC is in over his head. That in itself was a very poor decision. He looks to me like a coach who's nearing his breaking point and is getting desperate. He's had several years to get over his "rookie head coach mistakes." Yet here he sits, and he just made another one.
Oh, about that latest article about if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen, referencing how it was Dilfer that broke the QB change............That's a reach and a worthless article. Maybe we should have Jerry Jones out there making an embarassment out of our organization by storming the sidelines and muggin' for the camera That article was just stOOpid.
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***

i see your point and agree with it mostly. i do think that these recent moves seem to signal desperation, even though i felt like most people that they planned to insert quinn. i question rac's job security even though he just got his extension.

Fans who want and/or expect the coach, GM, or owner to be honest and forthright are idiots.
First..it's a given most (not all) people will some lies at some point..second coaches/owners/GMs can be relatively honest of they want to be. And I know you're taking the wrong slant on this. One should expect a measure of truefullness coming back from someone else..and in case of the FO, there should be some expectation of that..otherwise they lose any amount of credibility. We know these guys don't always tell the exact truth.. Why? Because being honest and forthright is never the way to go. No..not if you want to be underhanded..not if you never want to get caught or have to explain things..not if you don't want to be held accountable for your actions or words..nope ..be a liar....it'll get your reputation soaring off the charts see how many people will trust you . In today's NFL, the media, the fans, and the other team are ALWAYS looking for that angle, that story, that motivational quote that can be used to forward an agenda.
So a coach or GM should lie to promote a story? I know you aren't suggesting that are you? This was done for a couple of reasons, some not stated by Rac..: The fans need some incentive to return to the ballpark for the rest of the year. No, Randy doesn't need to fill the seats because they're all pretty much sold. What he does have to worry about is a December game with 30-40k in the seats, and season tickets being unloaded in January. The Browns do have to see what Quinn has before the off season. We can all differ on whether eight games will do it (barring injury), but there's no time to start like right now. If the club's greatest fears are realized (neither Quinn nor Anderson is the answer), then it's better to know that by this January rather than a year from now. Of course this season is not all Anderson's fault. As said, Sunday's game was truly a team effort. But the club doesn't see much worth in firing a coach mid-season and switching out starters here and there won't help that much. No, the easiest way to affect change, the one change that can have the greatest domino effect for a club, is at QB.. Never mind for the moment whether Quinn can do a good job-- the qb position provides far and away the potential for a badly needed makeover.

If the "play that ended the Ravens game" is the INT you are referencing, that wasn't DA's failure completely. There was a missed assignment, a QB running for his life, and a runningback that had no clue where the ball was.
DA got the shaft on this one. If BQ plays anything like DA the last 4 games, Quinn will be praised and others on the team would be directed blame because Quinn was great before he even took an NFL snap. That is what annoyed me most about the DA BQ debates on here. "Quinn is a quality NFL quarterback even though he has yet to play a real game."
I really do hope that Quinn is everything the fans on here hope for. I wouldn't wish the downfall of any Brown player.

That is exactly what I am saying.
I'm not hating on BQ. My discontent is directed at the fans. DA has a lot of attributes that are desirable in a young QB and given the right system and a little time he will be a good reliable NFL QB.
I'm giving Quinn my support because he is behind center and a Brown, as a real fan should. The fans here are going to give BQ more time and come up with more excuses if BQ fails simply because he was a round 1 pick and the local boy. That is what's not fair to DA.

There may be a few who have stated that,...certainly not me. That said, I want to find out IF Quinn is a quality NFL QB, and DID want to see it happen a lot sooner, as it became more and more obvious from week to week that Derek was not.
This started when he blew the Cincy game last year,...that was a Playoff Maker Game.
I doubt Paul Brown or Tom Landry would have put up with such crap for too long,...

When DA blew the Bengals game last year he was 2nd year QB. What is Brady Quinn? That is why I hold BQ to the same standards as DA. The two are only a year apart. If through 8 games BQ doesn't put up simular numbers as DA did through his first 8 starts, what does that say about Brady Quinn?
That is what annoys me about people on here. Do people easily forget that DA is only a 3rd year QB at 25 years old. He is going to make mistakes because of his youth, BQ is too. But Quinn's mistakes are going to be more acceptable by the majority.

Thrilled? Not at all. I'll be thrilled when we start winning consistently, and I couldn't care less about who the QB that takes us there is. That said, I'm eager to see what he can do.

Sure, Brady will get some extra room to make mistakes. Why? We're out of the playoff hunt now. There's no "pressure". Plus, like it or not, he is the golden boy of this franchise. da fell into our laps, we never expected anything from him and it all happened while we had Quinn on the bench. And da's implosion against Cincy last year when the playoffs were on the line really put him behind the 8-ball with a lot of the fans (including me).
If Quinn wins 6 in a row and loses that last two games by throwing 5 interceptions and costing us the playoffs.....he'll see the same booing da received. Yes there will be Quinn supporters even if that happens. da had supporters coming into this year too. However, being a low rated QB of a losing team that had chances to turn 3 losses into wins late in the game....well, it gets you the bench.
I can't help but wonder if Quinn came into camp on time, he would have been the one getting the start after Frye was thrown out of town (or even Quinn getting that first start against pitts).
As far as the da interception, it was his fault. The QB should know to take the sack or throw it away there. That may be asking a lot but it wasn't a tipped pass and a QB is supposed to handle pressure. Eli Manning handled the pressure on that one play in the Super Bowl to complete that pass to David Tyree. da is held to that same standard. The QB has to make plays, period. He was the last one who touched it...so it's his resposibility (fair or not).

Ross Tucker's Inside the NFL: Quote:
Appease the masses Whether it ever comes out publicly, the Browns' decision to start Brady Quinn instead of Derek Anderson on Thursday night against Denver reeks of a move aimed at appeasing both the media and the fan base. Moves made under that pretense rarely work out in the long run, so it will be interesting to see how long the Quinn honeymoon lasts in Cleveland. I have a couple of problems with the decision to bench Anderson, not the least of which is the lack of an exact reasoning for the move.
Do the Browns think Quinn is the man who can spark this team back into the playoff hunt? I highly doubt it, though I am sure that is how they will sell it. Are they trying to get him some experience so that he can play at a higher level when he becomes the opening day starter in 2009? It's possible, but I would argue it's premature with eight games still to play.
The much more likely alternative is the powers that be in Cleveland, and I don't mean head coach Romeo Crennel, decided it was time to make a change. Crennel's comment that he was not really considering a change hours before the move to Quinn tells you all you need to know about the beginning of the Brady era.
I don't like the move because the Browns still have an opportunity to rally and make the playoffs should they go on a run, something the streaky Anderson is certainly capable of doing. And that leads to this point. Yes, Anderson is streaky, but do the Browns really know what they have in him at this juncture? I would say no. A week ago the talk was that the Browns had won three of four, Anderson hadn't thrown a pick, and they were turning things around. Then it all changed with one horrendous pass that Terrell Suggs returned for a touchdown.
Anderson is 13-10 the past two years as a starter for a mediocre team with question marks, both with the pass rush and secondary, a clear recipe for disaster in the NFL. Anderson was also steering an offense that had a couple of flat tires. Braylon Edwards' drops have been so egregious that Anderson could sue him for negligence or now, I guess, unlawful termination. Kellen Winslow has been nothing but a distraction, and the Browns have had to play without Joe Jurevicius and Donte Stallworth for most of the year. Had you ever heard of Syndric Steptoe before this season? Didn't think so. Yet he had to become the go-to guy as teams consistently rolled their coverage to the butterfingered Edwards.
I would have given Anderson two or three more starts to attempt to cement what type of player he is and what he can do when the chips are down. If he or the Browns were to falter, I would then turn it over to Quinn and give him five or six games to get ready for 2009. I would have been resigned to move forward without Anderson forever because once you make the move, I don't think you can ever look back.
Instead, the Browns will turn to Quinn now, and don't think for a second that the fact that Thursday's game is at home and televised nationally didn't have a lot to do with it. The Browns are an inherently insecure organization and this gives them an opportunity to try to showcase their future and now present the face of the franchise against a Champ Bailey-less Denver defense that has not shown it can slow down anybody.

i'm eager and curious to see what he can do but i'm extremely cautious. he didn't light it up in the preseason, especially his 3rd game start against the terrible lions, so to expect him to be a "savior" is silly. new article on the start: Quote:
Barak Obama won the election by advocating change. The Browns are also making a change midway through what has quickly become a lost season.
This change is a welcome one for two reasons. First, regardless of his specific performance in the Ravens game, Derek Anderson has been wildly inconsistent and is statistically the worst starting quarterback in the NFL. Second, the Browns have a big decision to make on Brady Quinn, and given that at 3-5 and 1-3 in the division the season is pretty much toast, it’s time to see what the kid can do.
I’m surprised by the move, especially on a short week. Not because it isn’t a reasonable thing to do, but because it is a reasonable thing to do. The organization hasn’t exactly made good decisions this year, top to bottom. There is little to be gained by trotting Anderson out at this point. I suppose it says a lot that my expectations were that the organization would stay the course despite the fact that there is little to be gained by doing so.
While the timing of the change is debatable, I think it makes sense. The Browns face a Denver team that is having problems defensively. After a mini-bye of 11 days, the Browns travel to Buffalo, a team that has fallen off in recent weeks. While Houston is no pushover, the Browns play them at home. After that, the Browns will face some tough tests against Indianapolis, at Tennessee, at Philadelphia, and at Pittsburgh. By then, Quinn will have had a few games to get his feet wet.
Now, if you are one of those people who feel that Quinn will singlehandedly turn this season around, I hate to burst your bubble. Granted, we have very little evidence at the NFL level, but my observations of Quinn from camp and the preseason make me believe that it will take a while for Quinn to settle in as a pro. Immediate success would be welcome, but I believe it is unlikely.
Don’t get me wrong here – I’m not saying Quinn won’t be a solid starting quarterback in the NFL. I’m just skeptical that he is right now. I am taking a “wait and see” attitude.
Quinn has had one series in a real game. He led the team to a field goal on an eight-play drive. He completed three of five passes. But two passes into the end zone were dropped by Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow. Both should have been caught. He did a decent job. But this was on a cold December day against a 49er team that just wanted to end a long and disappointing season.
In camp, Quinn struggled, especially at the start. In one session I attended, Quinn threw three interceptions in 11-on-11 drills. The first was tipped to himself by Shaun Rogers. He lumbered into the end zone, brushing aside a tackle attempt by Lawrence Vickers. The second was a long ball that was picked off by one of the defensive backs. The third was a gimmie to linebacker Alex Hall on a swing pass which Hall took to the house. It was a play that was eerily similar to the interception thrown by Anderson this past Sunday.
The preseason is such a hard thing to read. Quinn had a so-so game against the Jets playing against the backups. He looked pretty good against the Giants, but this was after they had taken a 30-3 lead and weren’t playing all that hard. Quinn started against the Lions and did not look good at all. That’s disturbing given how the season has gone in Detroit so far. Quinn had limited playing time in the Chicago game and looked solid.
My take from what I have seen is exactly what you would expect: Quinn is essentially a rookie. There are some throws and some plays you make in college that just don’t work given the speed and talent level of defenses in the NFL. Quinn made some very ill-advised throws in the preseason. Some he got away with, some he didn’t. He will have to adjust to the NFL game and avoid those kinds of plays.
Yet, with all of the potential negatives, Quinn might still be a better option right now than what we’ve seen from Derek Anderson.
Quinn showed the ability to improvise and make plays with his feet. He’s known as a better performer on game day than in practice. And if Quinn can make some touch throws, he can take greater advantage of the talent the Browns have at the running back and tight end positions. He’s reportedly a much more commanding presence in the huddle, which might be needed given the egos on the Browns offense.
There is so much I’d like to say about how the Browns have gotten to this point, but I’m going to leave that until after the Denver game. Seeing people’s tickets torn up and trampled on the football bridge across from the stadium Sunday afternoon was a bitter reminder of the dashed hopes the 2008 season has brought us. We did not reach this point because of the quarterback position alone.
For now, a page is being turned. At least there is hope that better times are ahead.
Next Up
Quinn and the Browns take on Denver, the last-ranked defense in the NFL.

So we finally decide not to settle for what might be with Anderson and instead opt to find out what could be with Quinn and that makes us the bad guys?
Sorry, DA had his chance. Now Quinn gets his. No one promised me that life would be fair so I doubt anyone promised Derek that either.
Thursday a new era starts. Let's see what it brings. Hopefully, with an open mind.

he'll see the same booing da received.
Which is BS. The fans of this team try and do everything they can to be morons. Da wasn't given a fair shake by many of the fans (I'm not talking about fans on here in paticular) and Quinn deserves better treatment.
He is the golden boy of the organization so that should by him some time. I think if he takes half as long as Eli took we will run him out of town.

OK, I know your guy has lost the starting job. And this appears to have skewed the logic of more than one poster on here this week. But I'd hardly call a guy that had to wait a year and a half the "golden boy". And when you or anyone else does (call him that) it pretty much makes null and void any opinion expressed in that post.
As far as any booing is concerned....well, it's not pleasant to hear the boos or to be the recipient of them. But to get all bent out of shape because a poor performance gets booed once in a while is a little naive, don't you think?

Fans who want and/or expect the coach, GM, or owner to be honest and forthright are idiots.
forthright or upfront...fine...We don't need to know all the ins and outs and frankly it's detrimental to the team for all of that to be public knowledge....
But Honesty....I have to differ with you here. And I think Romeo is a perfect example. He has danced all around subjects and spoken for hours and not told us a single thing. But I have not yet known him to lie. And there is a difference.
Now if it comes out in the future that Phil and Randy made this move with the QB...believe me I will be highly disappointed and will be over Romeo's case...even if I understand the reason for the lie IF that is the case.
There is no reason a coach has to lie. He can choose to either dance around a question or choose not to answer the question at all. I don't think Honesty is too much to ask for in a coach. I mean look at Butch Davis...He would lie and talk about the best players playing or this and that...and then he would start playing favorites and he lost the trust of his team. If your coach doesn't have a sense of Honesty...heck forget about the fans...the players won't have anything to do with him.
I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken...

NRTU ...
Just a thought that I don't really see anyone considering. What if BQ comes in and plays really well ... to the tune of "WTF were the Browns doing keeping this guy on the bench?" ... It will just show more ineptitude of this organization. But to be fair, the org is in a no win situation ... if he plays well, they lose ... if he plays poor, they lose ... but hell, I guess that is fair, they put themselves in this situation when they committed to DA.
I really don't think it's possible for Quinn to be worse than DA. Really, is that possible? DA was what the 33rd or 34th ranked QB in the whole league. That goes way beyond a mediocre running game and WRs who drop the ball ... WAY BEYOND.
I think as a fanbase we should all be happy that we are getting on with it and this experiment is over with. I think the losing and mediocrity becomes like a security blanket for some ...
...which makes me think of this quote from Rob in Swingers ... perfectly applicable to the DA situation ...
"Sometimes it still hurts. You know how it is, man. It's like, you wake up every day and it hurts a little bit less, and then you wake up one day and it doesn't hurt at all. And the funny thing is, is that, this is kinda weird, but it's like you almost miss that pain."
People are already starting to miss DA's mediocrity.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Sure, Brady will get some extra room to make mistakes. Why? We're out of the playoff hunt now. There's no "pressure". Plus, like it or not, he is the golden boy of this franchise. da fell into our laps, we never expected anything from him and it all happened while we had Quinn on the bench.
Really?? Out of the playoff hunt..eh..I didn't see anything printed that said that.
If Quinn wins 6 in a row and loses that last two games by throwing 5 interceptions and costing us the playoffs.....he'll see the same booing da received. Maybe I need to start booing some of the bad posts I see in here
Yes, we're not out of the playoffs...but we're VERY close. So that buys Quinn extra time to grow in my opinion. Last year helped and hurt da in that respect. Winning all those games made the fans forget it was his first year as a starter. And when we had that Cincy game to win and da blew it, the fans saw it as another choke job by a Cleveland player. I think that left a bad taste in everyones mouth. da needed to perform better this year for people to forget the Cincy game. He ended up playing worse, which reminded them of the Cincy game and resulted in having no confidence in him.
I agree the fans are too hard on the team and specific players. They like to boo and scream about benching when they're still young. I think it's from being a Cleveland fan....we want a winner so bad. We don't want to wait around 5 years for da to mature. It's extremely impatient but it's reality.

Sorry I annoyed you,...everybody wants the same thing,...WINS. That IS the same standard.
And you're right, Quinn 's mistakes will probably get a pass that Anderson's didn't. Who cares, if he WINS. That is the standard.
The only reason Anderson played in "his second year" is because Charlie Frye couldn't handle it either,....
Didn't Marino take the Dolphins to the Super Bowl in his second year,.??
How about Big Ben, is he a dirtbag too ??
John Elway,...took him 4 years to get to the Super Bowl. I don't see the Browns with Anderson in the Super Bowl 4 years from NOW.
Bernie Kosar was THE MAN in year two.
Some of you people annoy me,....they made the move, get behind it and cheer your hearts out. I care less about the ego of a millionaire making millions playing a game.
And I don't care to argue right or wrong,...I want WINS. And Derek was not providing them.
Have a nice day.

"Maybe I was reading a post by eo from several weeks ago"
Nah...this is the first I breathed a word about it. After the Giant game I was a bit rejuvinated in letting the DA era go on. I wouldn't have mentioned BQ at all. I just recollected that I heard it. Not read it on this board...know I heard it.
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

My boy didn't lose. The reason being is I didn't have a dog in the fight. I just wanted fair treatment.
As for the Golden boy comment.
He went to Noter Dame, the "Golden Domers." He also is the face of this franchise since he was drafted. If you bothered to read I was stating that he shouldn't get the crap treatment DA got from the fan base if he struggles for a while. I said Quinn deserves a fair shake by us to succeed.
My opinion is that if he struggles this year and into next year many fans just like you will be moronic in your comments. Kinda like 017 stating he wanted DA hurt.
I will be supporting Quinn the same way as I supported DA. I will give him legitimate critism when he deserves it, and speak up when I feel he is being unfairly attacked.
If you don't believe me all I can say is do some searches on what I said about Quinn after his terrible preseason start.
Edit due to improper comments...

Well i watched Sportscentre last night, didn't really feel that RAC gave Quinn much of a ringing endorsement. I watched the show after reading most of what's written in this thread and others. words to the effect of "i hope Quinn doesn't fall flat on his face because if he does, i can't go and play QB....." sounded a bit weird coming from him. Willie McG's comments also show a little smoke....but it's hard to gauge context of conversations when they are written down i guess...he might've been using exasperated sarcasm to reporters' questions FWIW.
To be continued.......

They will be qyestioned, and some of it will be legit. I wuld like to add that they really had no choice but to give DA his chance after last season. I would also say that if Quinn didn't hold out for so long DA would probably never seen the field. I think that was a good thing. I don't like the idea of throwing a rookie QB into the fray from the gitgo. It seems to be working ok for Ryan, but the season is far from over. Also, I wonder how much of the problems Vince Young is having was due to the pressure he was under.
