Figured I'd ask some of you fishing guys,

I'm looking for a couple of 3 -1 speed baitcastering Reels, dont wanna spend alot of money, each in the $40.00 - $ 50.00 range if New. For night fishing tournaments only, so will only be used 15 - 20 nights a year.

Been using a 5 -2 -1 reel for night fishing an they seem to do ok, but would like to slow it down a little more so the fish have a better chance to locate & attack my bait.

if anybody knows where I can locate these please pass on the info.

3 -1 are not made so much any more, now days faster is better so finding 6:1 or 7:1 are the norm.

Thanks Guys

I flyfish and side-plane in the rivers around here. Not a whole lot of realing and spin casting. And my fish are bigger.

Well played.

I fished a ton growing up in Ohio on the Maumee River. From wading for walleye and white bass to shore fishing for pike and panfish, or being up all night fishing for catfish. The biggest fish I caught back then were the catfish. Reeling them in though was like dragging up a 6 or 8 pound piece of waterlogged driftwood. Now I catch 9 to 11 pound steelhead and 18 to 25 pound Chinook. They don't come to shore without a fight. If I knew how to post pictures here I'd post a shot of me from last years fall Chinook run. A 23 pound beauty taken from the Columbia River. Two weeks from now I'll be out doing the same only in a different river. I've already landed 4 steelhead this fall on the Deschutes River. Three side planing and my first on my flyrod.
I do love the Pacific NW....

From the shores of the Maumee, done the same, I'm 30 minutes west of the Maumee. I got a buddy who's a sales rep for Minkota and he says the same thing, Bass fishing is fun, but Northwest states steelhead fishing is incredible, I've done alittle salmon fishing in Michigans UP back many years when we were allowed to use trebble hook and 20 lbs weights.....those things litterally yanked my arms off, some where 20 -25 piunds of pissed off dieing salmon.....Good luck and if ya ever get the picture thing figured out I'd love to see them. have fun...
