When i woke up this morning i was not planning on buying one. It was spur of the moment thing. Some of you might have seen my samsung thread in which someone told me walmart might have samsung LCDs for 800...so i went to walmart lol they did NOT have SAMSUNG LCDs on sale at all...but the PS3 had a 100 dollar gift card on it....so i figure i woke up this early and stood in the stupid line might as well buy this as my blueray player/ video game system. The prb is i've been out of gaming for so long i don't even know whats good anymore...i know gears of wars is better on 360 but i think i want that...what else is good on PS3? is metal gear still good? lol i loved that game on PS1

NCAA 09 is pretty awesome. I didn't like Madden at all, but that's just me.
If you can get online and like first person shooters, get Bad Company. The single player isn't all that good, but online is a lot of fun.

Gears is a 360 exclusive.
If you want something creative, go with Little Big Planet. I havent' picked it up, but plan on it Monday or Tuesday.
If you like shooters, Resistance 2 just dropped. I have R1 and it rocked, but the 2nd one is supposed to be better. It also supports 60 player online. SOCOM is also out, if you played that on the PS2. It's online only. Just got done playing for 2 1/2 hours.
Metal Gear and Grand Theft Auto both got perfect 10s on most website's reviews. If you like racing games, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift is out. I have the first one.
If you like adventure games, Uncharted:Drake's Fortune came out last year, but is probably the best game that I played so far. Fun game, great graphics with lush tropical scenery. It might even be on the Greatest Hits deals.... not sure. If so, you can pick it up cheaper.

I thought they are commin out with a PS3 version of Gears of War!! i hope they do...i'm debating on returning this lame thing...i got it for the blueray anyway lol...

PS3 has a game coming out in February called Killzone 2. It was being developed as the PS3 was being developed still. It's been a looooong time coming, but from what I've seen of it, it probably by far has the most impressive graphics and effects that I've ever seen.
If this game disappoints, it's going to be a huge set back, because they've spent so much time and money on it.
And no, Gears of War isn't coming for the PS3. God of War is, though. Maybe that's what you're thinking of. And God of War is a PS3 exclusive. There's plenty of great games out there.

I would also recommend choosing ESPN 2k5 or over Madden if you're picking a football game to play on the Ps3. I don't care whether or not it's old as hell, with updated rosters it's STILL better than Madden. I actually just got back into playing it and I wonder why I ever stopped, everything is so damn realistic.

Well, he may be 100% serious. I played NCAA College Football 2004 for 2.5 years. The versions that came out after weren't as "tight" and good as the 2004 version. And all along that time, I couldn't stand each version of Madden. For some reason, that particular game was perfect.
As far as ESPN vs. Madden, I know a ton of people that would rather play an old version of ESPN over a new version of Madden. Some people just don't like Madden (or visa versa).
And plus, Madden is still "new" to the PS3 and 360. It usually takes three versions to get back up to speed from the previous console version. Just wait until the PS4/XBOX720 comes out, the first 2-3 Madden's will suck once again.

Metal Gear is a great game, but it is mainly for those who have played the previous games or know the series. Its still a good game, but if you don't know whats going on its kind of like watching a long movie and wondering what just happened.
But if you do understand whats going on its f'ing amazing...IMO
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

im surprised more people dont rave about heavenly sword? or did i just like it that much because it was the first game i played on the ps3?
if your game doesnt incorporate 6 axis.

All i play right now is NCAA...
Sometimes fight night 2 when friends r over...thats about it..
I have fifa 08(don't even kno why i bought it..it's pointless is suck at it)
And i have tom clancy's vegas 2 which is okay...its not as exciting as i thought it might be.

I love call of duty (all of them are good)
If you have a high speed internet connection then download some demos. They are free and they will let you know if you like the game before you buy - no renting necessary. You just go to the playstation store. you can also rent movies there.

I've played call of duty before and loved it. One of the games on my list to get...but i don't know if i'll ever get around to playing it so i just keep holding off.

I refuse to play World at War until the wall hacks are fixed. I'll go back to CoD4 if I have to. I have been playing a lot of Fifa 09, I'm in a couple leagues for that. I also picked up Rock Band 2 (just the game), I've been working my way through that as well.
Heavenly Sword was fun, but too short, IMO.

2 of the biggest games are coming out for the PS3 this month.
Street Fighter 4 comes out next week.
The following week, one of the most, if not most, anticipated games since the PS3 was announced will be released: Killzone 2.
That game looks gorgeous. The lighting effects that I've seen are phenomenal. The best I've ever seen.
