We're at the point where the fat lady is warming up. Twice as many losses as wins. But the season isn't over yet. If we win out we'll match last year's record and probably make the playoffs. If we lose one more then probably more than the playoffs will be out of the picture.

I'm sure that there's no one that posts on this board that thinks we will win the remaining games...but ya know what, the Yankees were up 3 games to none in the 2004 ALCS....and on the morning of October 21st I looked out my window to see that pigs were flying by. (damn redsox)

Such a comeback by our team would make for a beautiful piece of football lore.

Perhaps we don't have enough talent on D. But if Stallworth can stay on the field and Harrison can FIND the field and our offense can stay aggressive and play to win the games...
A lot of ifs....but it was our aggressive O that got us to 10 & 6 last year. And it would be VERY fitting if we were to beat both Indy and Tenn....those teams that cost us a playoff berth.

As bad as our record is I still believe that we are better than last year. We just haven't been as lucky and have a somewhat more difficult schedule.
I'm not usually known for my optimism (I find being a pessimist in the first place dulls the ultimate pain of failure ) but I'm not giving up hope yet. We have some weapons on offense. We just have to use them and keep them on the field.

- watch, we'll win 5 in a row and lose to Cincy again -
I didn't mean that oh great football pumpkin.
One slip like that and the great football pumpkin could pass our field by.

season was over when we lost to baltimore and went 3 games down + losing a tiebreak to a division rival

If that were to happen, it would almost be like the Giants last year (almost). It would give us tremendous momentum going into the playoffs.

But it won't happen. Our Defense will lose us more games.

I'm with you, losing that game was a killer, we would have been 4-4, going into a week against the Broncos.

Man, if we just won these last two games (which we should have won) we'd be 5-4. That would have given us some serious confidence and momentum.

3-6 really puts yourself out of it. The teams we play we can all beat, but consitently doing it would require the defense to catch a spark.

Wouldn't it have been nice for the defense and offense to both play well these past two games. Defense blew that idea.

With our corners and no pressure on the QB,look for Peyton,Kerry,Donavon and most likely Big Ben to light them up.With this D,we will be lucky to win 3 of those games.

Sorry to be so negative, but this team still just screws up to much for me to be positive.Every game we have the lead in,I expect them to mess up somehow, and unfortunately,I'm usually right.30 points should be enough to win,but with our D,we're gonna have to rack up 60 to have a shot.

I don't see us even sniffing the playoffs until the D gets it together.

Ditto,...with the tiebreakers the way they sit, I ain't so sure 10-6 WOULD get it done,...we MIGHT win the Steeler breaker, DEPENDING on how they finish out in the AFC, but we CANNOT win the Ravens breaker,...

10-6 would give us the breakers vs. Jax, Titans, Colts, etc.

I would like to find out though,....

We don't have the defense, but we just might have enough offense as Quinn grows into his role.

8-8 is what I see, optimistically speaking.

I'm of the opinion that you can only have hope if there were "signs" that hope was actually alive.

It's in the way we lose. The way we've lost says there is no hope.

The only thing to look forward to is watching the maturation of BQ for the rest of the year.

LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

People are actually talking about us making the playoffs? The absolute best we can finish is 10-6, and sorry, but that's not going to happen.

A combination of all three.....

I honestly dont see our FO making big changes, A know fans are gonna scream & cry, But common there gonna scream & cry no matter what they do, Fans want to Fire RAC...most are gonna cry becuase they hired so-in-so instead of thier guy....Fans want Winslow traded, They gonna whine & Cry becuase we didnt get 5 first round picks or we didnt get enough, there gonna cry again, Draft this guy, fans are gonna whine becuase we didnt draft that guy, Trade DA, fans are gonna whine that they traded him, other are gonna whine becuase we didnt get 5 first rounders for him, Ya see no matter what this FO does fans are gonna whine, thinking they really have something or a say in what they do, If anybody really thinks the fan base got Brady to start is the truth, there dilerious, RAC & Savage was not gonna start Brady until he was ready, no matter how much we cried.

So I really dont see us changing to much, now that being said that dosent mean that Savage will dictate to RAC who stays or who starts or other things. leading to a possible RAC resigning.

When one considers we're about to march out a QB who's had exactly one start under his belt, it's hard to imagine that we'll win approx. half of our games going foward. Here's who we play:

Bills, Texans, Colts, Titans, Eagles, Bengals, Steelers.

It's a pretty big reach to assume we'll go 4-3 the rest of the way out, and that only puts us at 7-9. More likely is 3-4 or even 2-5, dropping us to 6-10 or 5-11. RAC would be a lame-duck coach going into next year after either of those two records, and the FO would know it. They'd have to make a move.

His only shot is to have a winning record going down the stretch. The odds of him surviving this and getting a 5th year are less than 20%.

Winning the AFC North will require the following to happen:

1) Stoolers go 2 - 5 the rest of the way
2) Rats go 2 - 5 the rest of the way
3) Browns go 6 - 1 the rest of the way

Neither of the above scenario will happen. Heck, our chances of going 6 - 1 is 100% less likely than the Stoolers and Rats going 2 - 5.

We're not mathematically eliminated yet, I don't think (could be wrong), but theres no way we are going to win the rest of the games. Not the way this team has been playing... We would need divine intervention.

Boy...here I am trying to be an optimist for once and there's nothing but bad vibes floating around.

How did we beat the Giants? Was it ALL because they took us for granted? Or did we play to our potential? (one of 4 games in NFL history where the team didn't punt or turn the ball over...and it was against an undefeated superbowl champ).
OK, we've got a young QB taking over the team...but hey, tom BRADY took over for Bledsoe and did it and he was a 6th round pick. Our BRADY is a first rounder.

With our play-makers on offense we can out gun lots of teams. It's just a matter of putting them on the field (and Harrison is one of them) and turning them loose. Now, if we're going to handcuff ourselves and not play play-makers...or guys like Stallworth aren't going to be available to us then yes, all bets are off and we're pretty much doomed because we WILL need to score a lot.

Honestly, I would NOT want to be the Buffalo Bills right now.
They've got to play a team that lost 2 games in 5 days...that has their backs to the wall...and DOES posses offensive weapons.

I will say this...the psyche of this team is going to be on full display.

This has the makings of a big game or an awful game. I would be surprised if this game is close either way.

Either they're going to rally around each other...and lift everyone up.

Or we're going to see a fractured team, giving spotty effort and getting blown out.

I hope we rally.

Agreed, but the Bills are in the same boat,...lost their last 3 and 4 of last 5,....

We won't blow them out,...

This is either gonna be one of those boring 9-7 games, or 49-38 type deals.

I don't think we're dead yet. These next two games, we come to play and win, we can do it. Houston is NOT good. Indy is also not what we have come to expect... and we are at home. Don't leave us for dead yet.

It doesn't look good, but I still think there's hope. The next two weeks decide just how long that lasts.....

We could just as easily be 2-8.

No need to cause yourself undue stress. With this defense, we're lucky to have this record.

I love your optomism, and hope you are right. Here's the problem, though. Just think about the amount of time to throw that Cutler and Numbnuts Edwards had. I think we can win this weekend, but You can bet your ass that Peyton Manning is gonna absolutely pick us apart. With old man Harrison, Reggie Wayne and Anthony Gonzalez, that could be a VERY long day. Hell, I didn't even mention the tight end.

I honestly just shudder thinking about that game. Could be one of those games that is absolutely torture to watch as a fan. I just get the feeling that with Manning's polish combined with how much time he will have, that he could prolly be successful playing against our current defense in a wheel chair.

We have no shot at the p-offs...we will have to finish with a record better than the Rats.

Or the Colts...which have a cupcake walk from here out.

We have to go 5-1 just to be 9-7...while the Rats will have to 2-4..and the Colts, or Pats, or Dolphins go into freefalls.

Those teams are gettin better...we are not. No sense at all in starting this stuff of making the p-offs. We should just foucs on winning another game.

I guess they will learn the same thing they did last year...

You have to execute each game for 60 mins to make it to the post season. You can't hope that other teams mess up to benefit u. It's In your own hands.

Nope wasnt replying to you....just my take on the situ...in general.

I think our team gets up way to high and then down too low...I think their attitude changes weekly...from what Ive seen and how they seem to respond to winning and losing.

I've already gone on record that we are going to win 7 games in a row

Of course the only chance in heck I got of that coming true is if OUR DEFENSE wakes up and plays the way I know they can...and the way that they tease us and show they can briefly and lately disappearing!

I was counting on you for some support here. Took a while, but you came through.

All we gotta do is play offense 'To Win The Game'....'cuz the D needs offseason recruits.

"All we gotta do is play offense 'To Win The Game'....'cuz the D needs offseason recruits."

I'm going on the presumption that BQ will have his up and downs as a first year starter...but from what I have seen he has shown to be able to give us a pretty consistent offense (scores in every qtr so far). While unfortunately IMO DA just took too many long term hiatas in between his good streaks to strike a consitency needed.

This means the rest of this season...lies directly in the hands of the defense. They can make it easy and dominate? They can make it interesting by going hot and cold...as long as they can possibly finish hotter than cold.

They can simply suck it up...then we have little chance.

Its in there hands and I'm doing this every game

lol

NNRTU,...but I saw an interesting post on CBSSportsline, saying the Browns could not take the division if Pitt beat Cincy last night. While not mathematically true, that Steeler win did guarantee that, even if the Browns win the next Steeler game and end up in a tie for the division with them, the Steelers WILL win that tiebreaker, as they have already won 4 division games while the Browns can only win 3.

So,...not only can we not end up in a tie with either the Steelers or the Ravens for the Division, we likewise cannot even hope to be a Wild Card, based on a tie with either.

Some other teams in the other AFC divisions are gonna have to lose a boatload of games for the AFC North to put three teams in,......even then,....you have a road game to either Pittsburgh or Baltimore.

You have to believe that the Browns will not go better than 9-7 -- with the Steelers now already on win 8, their AFC North destiny is made,.....

Even IF Baltimore tanks it -- and those chances are better than the Steelers not winning ONE game of the next 5 -- we still would have to rely on all of the other contenders to take a big slide.

I just don't see it happening. I will not go away until the math says so, but this is about as bleak a playoff picture as you can imagine.

I'm starting to think draft choice,.....

We're about a linebacker and a cornerback away from being a playoff team. Next year, fellas. I just can't believe that we'd straight up pass Baltimore and/or the entire AFC East plus the Colts will all fall apart. However, if we do finish 9-7, you gotta believe that saves Romeo's job.
