http://www.sirius.com/newlineupI'm not sure what to think, sort of have mixed reactions on the new lineup. I do like the new 90s channel it's much better than the Pulse. I also like Deep Tracks; much better than I did the Vault. However Backspin is gone, a travesty. It was my #2 preset and now there's only 2 hip hop channels with no classic hip hop on sattelite radio at all. Might cancel after a couple months unless Shade 45 decides to add more old school to the play list. Any one else lose a favorite or two? I'm also curious how the XM subscribers feel who lost their favorite XM channels?

Was just going to post this.
I was driving to work, clicked on a station and noticed Squizz was now saying Octane. I'm thinking, WTF??? I thought it might have just been a new channel, since Fungus changed about a month ago to an AC/DC channel (which I wasn't happy about). So as I started flipping, I realized that they made the conversion to Sirius XM.
I was an XM subscriber, not a Sirius subscriber like you.
I'm actually quite happy with it with one exception- you missed Backspin from Sirius. The Rhyme was XM's equivalent, and it's gone as well. I can't figure out why they wouldn't keep one of them. There's only 3 hip hop stations, where there were 4 prior to the merger. With them combining, you'd think they'd keep at least 4, if not more, which I don't understand.
I enjoyed RAW and The City on XM, which were replaced with Shade 45 and HipHop Nation. From the brief time I heard them today, I actually like those better. RAW was hardcore rap. A lot of it was stuff I was interested in, stuff I may not heard much. It basically would be stuff I would have liked back in the day if I listened to nothing but rap and hip hop. The City was a bit more mainstream.
I listened to both Shade 45 and HipHop Nation today and heard a lot better selections being played IMO. Not too mainstream, not too hardcore. I noticed the DJ from HipHop Nation was the same on XM's RAW.
I just wish they kept their old school hip hop stations on.
I'll have to listen to the alternative stations more. I listened to Ethel, Lucy, Fungus (which was changed a month ago), Squizz and Flight 26 for my rock fix. All of them have been replaced. As long as they play the same type of stuff, I should enjoy it. I see the AC/DC station stuck, but I don't listen to that type of stuff.
I was going to go over to their website to get a complete channel line up here after dinner.
I gotta say so far I like the mix, with the exception of that one change.

Well, being that I would be considered an "elitist" for having both an 08 Highlander and Direct TV with the new XM/Sirius , I guess it's ok. At least I'll have both football and baseball...Go to 822 on Direct TV, my favorite time of year, XMAS music....

I just bought a new car a month ago and haven't hooked my sirius back up yet and my other car with sirius doesn't get driven in this crappy weather. Looks like I'm gonna have to get that hooked back up. It does suck that they got rid of Backspin. I mostly listen to Octane, Lithium and Hair Nation anyways. You XM guys are gonna love having NFL Radio now...

I hadn't notice the change.Buy then I don't listen to hip-hop.E-street Radio,Margaritaville,Outlaw Country,Frank Sinatra and the NFL. I hope I misread that and they arenot taking Sirius Disorder off. Snowy Sat.mournings, warm Guiness and Celtic Crush make for a great way to slide thru the winter.

There's a lot more changes than to the hip hop stations. Depending on what service you had, there should be a lot of new stuff. I had XM, and most of the rock stations all changed, the hip hop stations all changed, and some of the easy listening stations changed that I noticed. If you have Sirius, I know that you'll get the decade stations, 20 on 20, Kiss XM, Mix XM, a few of our rock stations and looks like some of the country stations. That's all I noticed, because I basically just listen to the music and skip all the talking.

Awww man that blows. Backspin was #4 preset for me. Maybe it will come back in the next phase of changes. I have XM on my TV and I really never use it. I do like Lucy I think it is which is the 90's alternative channel, which on Sirius is Lithium. I listen to Area 38, which used to be Area 33 but for some reason that changed numbers. I like OCtane, hardattack, fusion, NFL, Stern, ESPN radio, Shade 45, The Greatful dead channel once in a while, I even listen to the new wave station here and there lol. I love Sirius.

Lucy is gone off of XM now and is relaced with Lithium.
I had 2 sets of presets. The first 6 were top 40 stuff and rap. The second set was rock and 90's music. Out of the 2nd set of presets, Lucy was my favorite.
Is Lithium as good as Lucy? Hopefully, or else I'll miss that channel. From the short time listening today, Shade 45 was > RAW, and HipHop Nation was > The City, so I was happy. The Heat is still there from XM, which is mainstream Hip Hop and R&B, but damn it, I wish The Rhyme or Backspin was on.

Yeah Lithium is better IMO. Sometimes though they play a lot of the same bands it seems, like the Foo Fighters and Chris Cornell. I am a big Nirvana fan and they play a good amount of Nirvana, Pumpkins, stuff like that. Faction is another good rock channel I like that plays stuff from today and the 90's. Plus I like listening to Ellis in the afternoons, though I have been on a Howard Stern kick lately. I love it now that it's not censored. My wife just told me how upset she is that they took backspin off lol. That's crazy b/c we all were just talking about the same thing on here I just can't get into the newer rap now a days and really like the old school stuff. I loved that there was a channel that played all the stuff that I listened to as a kid,,and now it's gone I am seriously about to write to Sirius and demand they bring it back. make up something like "I ONLY got Sirius b/c I heard Backspin on my friends radio and just HAD to have it. Now I may cancel" hehe

I was thinking about doing the same.
You would think when 2 companies merger, and they both had old school rap stations, that they'd have 1 combined station or pick one or the other. But they just cut it out. There were 4 stations on XM, and now there's 3 with the merger. Makes no sense at all.

I had XM, then bought an new Audi in the spring that came with Sirius, so I cancelled XM. On XM, I mostly listened to Liquid Metal, Lucy, Squizz, BPM, and The System. When I jumped to Sirius it was Hard Attack, Lithium, Octane, Area 38.
Here's what I've determined...
Liquid Metal(XM) vs. Hard Attack(Sirius)...
Hard Attack played a TON of Slayer, Iron Maiden. I understand what these bands did for metal, but they played TOO much. They also played too much stuff that I would hear on Faction and Octane. SOAD and Deftones don't belong on a HEAVY metal channel. The only redeeming quality of Hard Attack was Ian Christie's show, Bloody Roots and Beyone the Pit that was on at midnight. When the merger came about, I prayed that Liquid Metal would be the channel they would pick. When I found out yesterday that Hard Attack became Liquid Metal, I was extremely happy. I just hope they don't water it down. I'm not sure if XM's DJ's came over or not, I doubt it. I'll miss Ward Cleaver in the afternoon, then Cool Guy and Katie Brutal. Mario and the Sirius clowns are a bore.
Lucy(XM) vs. Lithium(Sirius)... Lithium gets the nod for me. Uncensored. A little too much Alice In Chains, but I can't really complain. They're pretty much the same, 90's alt. rock.
Squizz(XM) vs. Octane(Sirius).... Push. They're the same. Modern rock.
Everything else, I don't really care one way or the other. I don't listen to a lot of hip-hop/rap, but my friends have me hooked on goofy songs like MIA's Paper Airplanes. So I wander over to Shady 45 every now and then.

I noticed Sirius Buzzsaw changed to XM Boneyard which is fine, it's a decent rock station playing metal from the 80's and 90's, other than that, I haven't scanned the dial in some time, I have 18 presets, and only really use about 9 of them.
The Vault was decent, but their selection was so hit or miss I thought, I found classic vinyl and buzzsaw accomplished about the same thing.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

I don't think I'm going to notice the changes. Since Deep Tracks is basically The Vault and Boneyard is basically Buzzsaw.
Every once in a while I'd hit Backspin and if there is no longer an old-school hip-hop station then I won't be listening to any rap at all. I despise modern rap / hip-hop whatever you call it.
My all-time faves from Sirius are still there. Underground Garage and Outlaw Country. If they only had these 2 channels, Howard Stern, and NFL, I'd still subscribe.

I still haven't got it all figured out,but Disorder is gone.I listened to that toilet in the attic,it blows. I have been distantly in love with Meg Griffin for 20 years,if she's gone and Celtic Crush is nomore,I will be a disgruntled customer I don't like any of those 70's,80's,90's channels,it's the same commercialized crap I didn't listen to when it was on FM. Oh well, still have E-street,Buffett,and Stern. And Ol Blue Eyes.I'm not crazy about him,but he's money when you're trying to get that little girly in the mood.

It's there. Some of the stations just got changed around. XM had their station that was on 12 (should be a country station) that stuck around, so LZ just got moved. I remember seeing it.

It didn't matter to me. Just part of merging the two, taking the best of each. I'm mostly FOX News, Howard, Ferrall, some Bubba, Nascar, NFL Network and Dusty Street from the R&R HOF at noon everyday on Classic Vinyl.
I won't get the best of XM package until it includes baseball.

Research and marketing probably show not many subscribers listen to that...if they did, they might have 10 channels that play that.
They don't just willy nilly decide what to keep and what to can.

LZ will be there for me in the car.

It dosen't, and to me it's just two because I always hated Hot Jamz and The Heat is probably worse, if not the same. I didn't give it much of a chance... a Keyshia Cole song was playing..need I say more?
Overall after another day of listening. I'm pretty happy about the new lineup with the exception of backspin being cut, so I guess I wont cancel and hold out hope that a new classic hip hop channel will emerge.

I noticed on Hip Hop Nation tonight they had the "Classic Example" going, which was a big mix that was on XM's The Rhyme. So it sounds like they tried to incorporate the old school rap into that station instead of devoting a whole station to it. I'll miss that station.

I never ever thought I'd see the expression "new classic" and "hip hop channel" used in the same breath.

Yeah I've noticed HHN seems to have a new flavor the last couple days. I've heard a few new DJ's and listening to Militianment Crazy Raw now. I have to admit I'm liking it so far (except they're talking too much right now).
While Shade's programming has stayed the same, and I've never been nothing more than a casual listener of HHN. I might find myself straying over to this channel more often than I use to.

For those who are interested:
I was driving to work yesterday and heard the DJ on one of the stations say that they are bringing Backspin back into their lineup, which is the equivalent of The Rhyme that I listened to on XM.

I really like the octane station
Hair nation is pretty cool but the best thing is they are keeping the Boneyard.

If Backspin is coming back, I'm fine.
Also anxious for Boneyard (Buzzsaw sounded better) to stop doing all AC/DC. I like that band, but enough's enough . . .
I'm anxious to check out the new B.B.King blues station. The original blues channel wasn't cutting it for me.
Now how bout an all Rock-A-Billy station???

Excellent!!
Out of the new XM stations I only listened to the 90's and the 40's on 4 station. I like to listen to swing music sometimes. usually it's either Lithium, Faction, Octane, or Hard Attack though.
