We don't need any more 1st time head coaches or coordinators. We need people who know what they are doing. Take the talent given to them and shape it

From a previous post you made, it's pretty clear you woudn't want Billick... and I agree

Who does that leave that was a successful HC in the NFL that is available..

I see a several

Bill Cowher
Marty Shottenheimer
Dennis Green
Steve Mariucci
Brian Billick
Jim Fassell

The list would be longer if you included guys that weren't successful before.. but then, why would you want them?

So out of that list (or any others you can add), which ones would you want?

I'd take Cowher, Shottenheimer or Fassel.

it is a short list, isn't it?

I think when you look at that list and try to think who would be the best to finally bring this organization back to it's old school Browns football winning ways, the choice is obvious.

You say we need a coach with experience as a head coach and then point to two teams (Miami and Atlanta) that turned it around quickly.....with first time head coaches. Hmmmmmm.

I really don't think it's all that obvious.. Cowher would be a natural fit,, but so would Marty and Fassel is a good coach.

Marty and Fassel would take what Phil gives him and make it the best it could be.. Cowher, it's said he wants total control. If we keep Savage, that's instant conflict. If Savage goes,, it might fit, but do you really want a HD/GM configuration? I sure don't.

So, no it's not all that obvious to me.

For me the top 2 would be Cowher and Marty.

Cowher may take a lot of convincing. I'm sure Lerner will offer the dough, but not sure he'll want to.

Marty might entertain a comeback to C-Town, so I'd at least talk to him if I was Lerner.

I didn't say all first time head coaches are bad All good coaches must have had a start somewhere, right?

I just don't buy into the idea that we need to completely overhaul the roster again. Some quality coaching is what the team really needs. And we haven't had very good luck trying to find the diamond-in-the-rough first time coach. Gee whiz...let's try something different and go after someone with experience!!!!!

Whether you bring Cowher in here or not, we're an expansion team bro. - It's gonna take another 3 years at a minimum. - That's if we're lucky.

I'll see your BS and raise you a BS.

the expansion angle IS part of the problem.

How long did it take for expansion teams like the Falcons, Yuccaneers, etc. to start to win?

The Texans have been in the league longer and IMO we have done better.

In addition someone mentioned that one game the defense plays well, while the offense stinks and the next game is the exact opposite. Perplexing...

This year alot of injuries happened and IMO the most costly was Ryan Tucker.

Just a few more players and another 1/2 coaching staff away from good things.
