So after playing with a Wii at my uncle's house back in May, the hubs and I have been saying that we'll be buying one. Well, flash forward to yesterday...I finally bought one! Only have the WiiSports right now, but after dropping the coin yesterday, I'd like to wait to get games once the bank account is replenished again. But, the hubs and I had some battles last night...I kicked his butt in bowling, he kicked mine in baseball. We fear our living room isn't large enough for the both of us to play tennis. We did the WiiFit Real Age thing, I'm WAAAAAAAAAY younger than him, but still WAAAAAAAAAY older than my age. I'll be working on that! Off to play tennis...

I played the Wii at my buddies Saturday for the first time and I loved it, I was afraid I would. My wife who doesn't like video games even liked it. So needless to say when we find one we will be getting one as well.

My recommendation is Target. I went to a few other stores throughout the weekend and Target was the only one to have them (and my store had about 7 or 8 on hand). They all have them priced around the same (about $250). So I should just gone where I wanted to originally anyway and paid the same amount as anywhere else and gotten the darn thing about 3 days sooner! LOL!
I recommend an extra controller and the PowerPlayKit (with battery chargers and component cables included)

IMO, the Wii is the best gaming console I've ever played on. The graphics aren't as high as the other consoles, but the interaction is just awesome.
My wife is not a big gamer, but she loves to play, too.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

Our kids pulled the tag team bit on us. "We want to go together and get a Wii for both our gifts"! I bought in instantly and the wife bucked it hard. (not a gamer)
We found one and bought it...I'm more anxious for this Christmas than I have been in years!!!!!

Neither one of us are really crazy about it...we rented it a couple times and rented several games and decided not to buy it. I'd rather get a PS3 or something...

Good timing for a Wii thread!
My kids all had awesome report cards, so they will be getting a Wii for X-Mas. What I was wondering has to do with the downloadable games. I haven't played much of the console yet, but I did look around online and it looked all the places to get games were subscription.
When it came out initially, I was under the impression there were free "mini game" downloads. So any info would be great. And also, how do you get them from the PC to the console ? Do you just burn a CD.

Do a search on "Wii Virtual console" and you should get more info. Basically, though, you plug in your Wii, connect it to your wireless computer router, then you hit the Wii Shop Channel and download old Nintendo games straight to your Wii console. They aren't free. You may purchase Wii Points over the Wii Shop channel or buy Wii Points cards at any gaming retailer. Each game is a certain number of points that just comes off your balance when you "buy".

You gotta try Rayman's Raving Rabbids. It's only 20 bucks on Amazon or you can find it in Wal-mart on occasion (not in the glass case anymore). I have Wii Sports, Wii Play, Smash Bros., Mario Galaxy, and Rayman's. By far, Rayman's is the most fun and it's CHEAP! There have been two newer versions released I think, but I hear the original is way better.

Just wanted to use this thread to ask some Wii owners a question:
Other than Mario Kart, which game do you own for the Wii?
I own one but the only game I ever play on it is Mario Kart and need something different to change it up.

I own Okami Adventure game. based around Japanese mythology and the graphics make the game look like and feel like a piece of artwork. I really like it and would recommend it. Plus, you should be able to pick it up for 30 dollars now. Super mario Galaxy My wife plays this one a lot. It is fun and challenging. The three d takes ome getting used to, but a fun game. I believe that it is the highest rated game on the console as well. fun game. just received Shuan white snowboarding (haven't played yet) Wii fit It is okay. It has some fun games, and will get you moving, but do nto expect it to replace a workout routine. The balance board rocks. i would buy the game just for this. i cannot wait to use the balance board to play shaun white snowboarding Super smash brothers I liked it, my wife hated it. Fun little fighting game with an addictive and challenging singly player mode. and mario kart. That is it for me. There is not one that I do not like. in there. here is a nice link for reviews of games. It is compilation of all of the internet ratings. wii game reviews sorted by rating

COD 3 & 5 - both good games, COD 5 is more of a grown up game with blood and swearing.
Medal of Honor Heroes 2 is another great war game, more challenging then the COD games.
Super Mario Galaxy is so far the best game for the wii, you can collect the needed stars and beat the game or you can collect all the stars and unlock Luigi and his levels.
Sonic Unleashed has me hooked right now, very fun and challenging game. Currently at Dr. Eggmans land.
Don't forget to check out virtual console for wii ware games and good ol' classic games.

We probably have 10 games, but really only play a couple. Mario Kart and Animal Crossing are the choice games right now. I doubt Animal Crossing will appeal to many of you "hard core" gamers, but I like it when I want something relaxing.

I rented the Rayman Ravin Rabbids 2 this weekend. HILARIOUS game and really fun too! I'll have to go and find the first version to purchase. The hubs and I will rent some games and try them before we buy them.

Got the Wii for my oldest daughter for Christmas. We had fun playing Wii sports. I like bowling the best. She likes bowling and tennis. She just stands there playing tennis and swinging away. I'm running around the room like I'm actually on the tennis court. But I suck at tennis.
Bowled a 209 today. Pretty cool. What a great system.

I love it too. I thought I was going to kick my wife's ass at boxing but she knocked me down 4 times to my none. She also has bowled a 247 to my 203. I thought I would dominate, but she has. LOL

We've been renting some games lately and trying them before we buy them. So far, nothing that we feel we have to have. Well, maybe Raymon's Ravin' Rabbids...other than that, nothing exciting.

No, not yet. The video store didn't have any copies of it when I was there, any of the times I've been there. As soon as I see it there, I'll rent it and give it a try!
