Looking ahead…what should we hope for during the remainder of this season?

Currently we are placed at 8 (in terms of being the worst record in the NFL). Where should we ideally land up in order to draft players in the first 2 rounds that can give us instant impact? Top 10? Top 5? Top 3?

I hate to say this, but I would like us to lose our remaining games – with the exception of the game against the Steelers.

Losing out now could potentially put us in the Top 5, which would be ideal to land two impact players in the first two rounds of the draft.

Losing our game at this stage might not have too damaging of a psychological effect on our players because without DA and BQ I think our players already know how difficult it will be to win.

Also looking forward, which UFA LBs can we realistically get that would help us instantly? These are the players that I could find (source: http://www.kffl.com/static/nfl/features/freeagents/fa.php?option=LB&y=2009), I’m note sure how up to date this list is:

Eric Barton - New York Jets
Monty Beisel - Arizona Cardinals
Khary Campbell - Washington Redskins
Ryan Claridge - New England Patriots
Dan Cody - Baltimore Ravens
Jorge Cordova - Tennessee Titans
Channing Crowder - Miami Dolphins
Angelo Crowell - Buffalo Bills
Troy Evans - New Orleans Saints
James Farrior - Pittsburgh Steelers
Tyjuan Hagler - Indianapolis Colts
Michael Hawkes - Green Bay Packers
LeRoy Hill - Seattle Seahawks
Larry Izzo - New England Patriots
Clint Kriewaldt - Pittsburgh Steelers
Jason Kyle - Carolina Panthers
Kenard Lang - Denver Broncos
Paris Lenon - Detroit Lions
Ray Lewis - Baltimore Ravens
Darrell McClover - Chicago Bears
Willie McGinest - Cleveland Browns
Mike Peterson - Jacksonville Jaguars
Brady Poppinga - Green Bay Packers
Bart Scott - Baltimore Ravens
Cody Spencer - New York Jets
Pat Thomas - Kansas City Chiefs
Zach Thomas - Dallas Cowboys
Jonathan Vilma - New Orleans Saints
Nate Webster - Denver Broncos
Sam Williams - Oakland Raiders
Rod Wilson - Chicago Bears

Not many of those backers stand out, except for Khary Campbell, but that's only because I played against him 4 years in a row in high school. Our best chance is going to get a backer in the draft, whether it be 1st or 2nd round. Sure what like to get the kid from USC. Reminds of Polamalu but bigger, stronger, and meaner.

Vilma, Crowder, and Webster are all pretty tough IMO

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I do think Peterson from Jacksonville could intresting, obviously he wont be back with Jacksonville, & I dont know his personnality or if he's a infection in the locker room, but something happened down thier, but he's gonna be availible.

Willie MG & A.Davis will be gone so we might be looking at one FA LB & one in the draft if possible, I like Ray M. from USC but his injuries scare me, I guess thats all I hear & should see if it's just this year or every year thing, I do think Hall is a valuble back-up & havetn seen enough of Bell to even wonder if he's a legit starter in this leauge. Leon is a back-up & DQwell will only be better when those around him are, Wimbley I havent given up on, but needs to step it up next year or be gone.

In obtuse deference to what I posted last week, now there appears to be a somewhat better chance of getting Ray M. I don't like wishing for losses either, but it is the only path to draft redemption.

Injuries,...?? can always be a question mark. That mostly went away for Adrian Pete,...I still want another OL stud like the kid from Oklahoma (Robinson ?)

We should always, ALWAYS, draft a O-Lineman in the first three rounds, and grab another in the 2nd day of the draft. I gotta believe Tucker & Shaffer will be gone after this year. Shaffer's done an ok job but we can no longer accept ok, so we need to improve the Right tackle spot and can do that in the second or third round if not FA. Tucker gotta love the guts but age has caught up to him, and I'm not sure if what we have can step in and play up to par, maybe ok for back-up but not for starters. We need to up grade our right guard & tackle at some point in the draft or FA & we can, but first we must as we all know address our LB position & Maybe corner spot.

Round 1, LB
Round 2 CB
Round 3 OT

Hopefully we can add another second or third round pick with trading KW or Anderson or both.

Dude, call me crazy, but I think we'll beat the Steelers.

Why? Because it makes absolutely no sense...just like what Mike Greenberg said before the Giants game.

I'd rather draft stud LB's....

When it comes to free agents... I'd rather go o-line/ d-line, and WR.

i thought we traded away our 3rd?

also, we will need to start developing a replacement for Hank.

I think Nick Mangold has started every game for the Jets since he got drafted. When is he an FA ?

Because we'll be resting some of our starters for the playoffs?

That was good, even from a Steelers fan.

Yes we did to Dallas, I'm thinking whom ever we trade we atleast get a third rounder.

Good point Maybe this is the year we draft a legit center and move Hank to right guard. This line need Hank, he makes the calls and points out protection and hustles every play, but as he gets up in laying years he will need to move to guard and guards can still make the calls alot of teams have the guards make the calls.
