Yeah it is a frivolous question, but the guy I car pool with asked me why I use my left rear and claimed that it was the wrong pocket. Of course this is the same guy that will put A-1 sauce on a rib eye, even tenderloin. He's a good guy, but I think I need to teach him some basic "dude" things.

....or am I wrong after all these years?

What do you think?

I use both pockets in the front, usually the right, but I never give it much thought.

I dont think there's a right or wrong side for the wallet, but A-1 n a good steak is just plain wrong.....to answer the question, it's in the left rear pocket for me, and except for the lint it's pretty empty.

I am a righty as well and that is why I use my back LEFT pocket. I can grab the wallet with my left hand then use my right hand to remove cash, debit card, Browns schedule, etc.

Don't know that any one way is "wrong" when compared to another, we are just different human beings. My father and older brother are both right-handed as well and use the right rear pocket. *shrug*

It's very uncomfortable for me to place it in a front pocket; I have only done that on two occasions when in a huge crowd.

I put my wallet in either of my front pockets. I learned to do this as early as my high school years when an old friend told me a friend of his had his wallet in his back pocket and it was taken from him. Easy lesson to learn...I have never had any problems.

It really screws up the look of a dress uniform; I learned to stuff it in a sock. (Utilities no problem though.)
Pretty hard to pickpocket your sock,...

Regular clothing, right and left rear, but mostly right.

There is no "correct" pocket, but somehow a front pocket seems weird to me. Sounds like a good theft preventer however. If there was a correct pocket, I would say it would be "none."

I try to never carry it at all, as it is a nuisance to sit on, and it bothers me while working.

anybody that tries to tell you there is a "right" way to stow your wallet may as well pour A-1, ketchup and whatever else on his well done ribeye.

i hope if you have any important decisions to make in your life you have somebody else to sound out.

Since my wallet is always so bulky with cash, I generally just try to keep it in my coat pocket.

But, if I have to put it in my pants, I put it in my back right. I'm not coordinated enough with my left hand to put it in my back left. If I put it there, when I took it out, all my cash would come flying out.

Usually front right. If my pockets get too full, back right. Id rather wear a hoodie and put my keys and cigs in my pouch so I dont have to use my back pockets. I just started getting used to putting my wallet in my back pocket this year, after 30 years.

Back right pocket ALWAYS, and nobody is brave enough, or dumb enough to reach their hands near my backside.

Now one thing I don't get is how anybody (besides the young guys wearing the 48 inch waist pants on their 30 inch waist) can stuff a large two inch thick wallet in their front pocket?

One thing to consider is the new front pocket design of wallets. The ones with a few slots and a clip as opposed to a fold or a tri fold wallet meant for a back pocket.

Right rear here with checkbook closest to ash then wallet.

I do the exact opposite but that is probably because I am a lefty, but for no other reason, like many I don't or ever heard of an "incorrect" wallet pocket matchup.

2119 - I am too surprised how many carry their wallet in their front pocket, that has to be uncomfortable, I don't even but change in those pockets, just keys and those can be annoying.

Annoying for sure....I generally have nothing but keys, change, phone and can of snuff between front 2 pockets and that can get aggravating.

But I aint carryin' a purse....

I don't have a wallet. It's from Johnston & Murphy. It's called a Weekender Case. I suppose it's more wallet than money clip but I guess it's a mix. It's big enough to carry your ID, a few cards and that's it. I used to wrap the cash around it with a rubberband....but now it goes in the same left front pocket loose.

My goal is to only carry an ID and one card....working on a new system.

I agree, I couldnt imagine having my wallet in my front pocket. Its not the size of George Costanza's wallet, but still to big to store up front.

You won't catch me dead with one of those waist bags either.

I have a phone case (I can operate a cell phone now, lol) but just keys in the front normally I don't worry about getting pick pocketed since I don't put myself in those situations, but keys, I don't carry the remote lock operating device for our SUV cause it annoys the hell out of me to carry. The only reason I retain the remote entry device on my key ring (which is a pain in the pocket at times) is because of the remote starter device on my car.

Love it love it love it this time of year when I can point and click from inside the house and go out 10 minutes later and the windshield is clear.....

Congratulations on learning how to use a cell.

Right rear....it goes in sideways so it sits deeper and is hard to take out. Most of my pants have a button, which I use.

Always back left. Exceptions are vacationing abroad and strange places like bars or parking in the wilderness areas of lots. Then it is front left. OFtren with my hand oveer it if overseas or out of country.

Back left, leaves my right hand available for other functions such as retrieving the contents of said wallet, or handling the items I am purchasing.

I have used my front pocket in places that are very busy and tight packed with people to avoid pick pocketing. But it's never comfortable, so if I'm going to a place like that I often take a CC, DL and some cash in a money clip and put it in my front pocket.

It's very much true...except it's more of a sciatic nerve problem than a your back. The wallet pushes on the nerve when you are sitting. Not good. I applaud those of you that don't carry your wallets in your back pockets...smart guys.

I could see that when someone carries a wallet lets say 3 to 4 inches thick doing damage but what I carry is so small I don't even notice it, if I sit, and no I don't have a fat ass, though it is not on me 24/7 only when I go somewhere, but I never heard of someone having a problem from a wallet, I guess you learn something new every day.

It's mostly affects guys that sit a lot -- lots of driving, office job, etc. It keeps pressure on the nerve for far too long causing pain and/or numbness in the lower extremity on the side they carry.

Right front pocket.

I can't put it in the rear. First off, I'm a "compulsive pocket checker," making sure I have my wallet, cell phone and keys on me at all times and nothing mysteriously fell out. Secondly, I wouldn't like to sit unevenly. (My wallet is thick even when there's little cash in it).

I've heard that can happen although everything I have ever read indicates that it only effects you on that particular side that you carry your wallet on. I do experience REALLY bad back pain about once every 6 months, but it radiates through my whole back, not limited to one side by any means. Do you think this could still be related?

The pain comes out of the blue....last week it was while standing, about to shave. Felt like Griffey Jr. hit me in the small of the back with a bat. Comes and goes for a day or two (oftentimes in spasms) then disappears......

Well, if you are a righty, and the right branch of the sciatic nerve is squished, that's the side that the problem would be radiating from -- I've had many clients with exactly this issue and it's one of my standard questions to men with hip/leg/low back problems. You may not always FEEL it on that side as you have to be pretty in touch with your body to notice it. But, if it turns in to true sciatica, you will notice the side, as it's very hard to miss.

It could be...but low back pain can come from a brazillion different things. New shoes, or shoes you haven't worn in a while (changing to winter boots, hunting boots, sandals, etc.), is a huge cause of lower back pain. Needing to flip a mattress is another cause. I can't list them all, but generally intermittent low back pain such as yours is from something you've done (carrying heavy things, lots of walking when you normally don't, changing shoes, etc.) rather than being a true soft tissue problem. If you drive a lot, try taking your wallet out of your pocket while you're in the car...see if you notice any difference.

This is another HUGE thing for both men and women. Any time you stand, especially at a sink, notice if you "lock" your knees backward. If so, bend them a tad to make them "unlock". Standing with your knees in a locked position is probably THE biggest cause of lower back pain. Women tend to do the "locking" thing more than men for some reason, but plenty of men do it, too. It's hard to explain, but when you are standing with your feet shoulder width apart (normal stance), your pivot point should be your ankles, not your hips. If your knees are locked, you will move from your hips.

And the Kelso thead of the month award goes to ...

Anyways, I'm all over the place. I usually keep it in the back right when walking around (I'm right handed), but almost always take it out and store it somewhere when sitting. When I'm on vacation or worried about it getting stolen, it usually goes to the right front.

Front right pocket, I'm right handed so it only makes sense. As far as comfortability goes I don't wear tight fitting wranglers so that area isn't a problem.

I use a money clip wallet, so I carry it in my front pocket. Front left. I'm very picky about which pockets I carry things in lol.

Left pocket is my wallet, and my car keys. Right pocket is my cell phone and work keys.
