Great gutty win tonight! Sure it was against a crap Wizards team, but at least it shows that this team can dig deep and squeek out a win when they are down late. Shows that this team has lots of character and determination.

First of all, if you are in the NBA you are a pretty good player. Secondly Mike James was just hot, it happens.

It tickles me how fast people are wiling to turn on the team. This is the NBA, any team can win on any night. The Cavs did a great job of battling and winning a tough game, where the team they were playing against was playing out of their minds. The Cavs did not play particularly bad, they just ha a cold shooting night. Awesome job to pull out the game, they showed the grit of a contender.

That's exactly right.

Hell ..... look at the NFL and how often a winless team breaks that winless streak against a pretty good squad. It's easy to take it easy against a team thought to be bad. Being able to come back and win a game that you could easily have lost shows a ton of heart and determination ..... especially on a night where your star had a big time off night.

Yeah thanks for saying what I wanted to, but much better. Gotta credit the Cavs stellar D, It seemed like Washington was stuck on 89 forever.

That was a lil' too close for my taste...lol...

Mo Williams...AGAIN...This dude's energy is contagious...97% from the line...Outfrickenstanding...

Again...With Bron gettin' a blow we go on a 20-9 run...Brown's doing good having Mo out there running the 2nd team when Bron's down...

Washington was gettin' a lil' cocky at the end...CLAMP DOWN D does it again...

We know u didn't MEAN to make it so close Bron...Don't do it again...lol...And enjoy that back scratcher you're girlfriend got ya'...

You can't win every game by 12.....some games are going to be close...and those help you as you get deeper in to the season.

Better to win a close game than lose a close game.

Thats right, winning games big all the time, makes a team soft and complacent and then when it comes to crunch time they dont know how to react.

I thought that game really showed how much they've grown up since last year.

They didn't shoot well, Washington was playing as well as they have all year, and yet the Cavs were mature enough to play the tough D to get the W. That's the sign of a scary-good team.

I'm not turning on anybody. Their play last night was embarrassing. This game should've been over by halftime. You said they did not play particularly bad, which is untrue. Up until the last couple minutes of the game, their defense was awful. They were allowing wide open threes all night long. On offense they didn't drive the ball to the basket at all, instead settling for jump shots when they should've been aggressive. And yes, Mike James is a scrub by NBA standards. He's averaging 6 ppg this season and is already on his second team, and we let him put up 26 on 10 of 14 shooting. He was getting uncontested looks outside the arc all night, even when he'd showed that he could hit the open three. Dude shot 8 threes and made 5 of them. The Cavs were incredibly fortunate that 1) Antawn Jamison fouled out, probably the biggest reason they didn't score in the last couple minutes, and 2) that they only shot 7 free throws for the entire game. The Wizards are one of the worst teams in the NBA, possibly at the very bottom, and we needed everything that we could muster to eke out a victory.

I'm happy as hell that they won, but they looked pathetic last night. They play like that against a team that doesn't totally suck and they're going to get run out of the gym.

Mike James is a guy who a couple years ago averaged 20 ppg and since going to the Wizards is scoring over 10 ppg. That is hardly a scrub. Maybe not a all star or anything but he is a solid player who has some offensive ability. He was hot last night, and was almost able to get his team a win.

The point is the Wizards came in and battled, good for them. Even better the Cavs took care of business. Yeah, I guess on paper we should have blown them out. Fortunately the game is not played on paper. The team battled to win a game where they did not shoot well, hardly embarrasing.

Riiiiight. He's a career 10 ppg player who, before he put up 26 on us, had scored 50 points in 10 games with the Wiz, to add to the 20 he scored in New Orleans this season. 96 points. 15 games. Less than 7 ppg. Last year: 250 points in 55 games with two teams. 5 ppg. Year before that: 10 ppg. The year he put up 20 ppg his team won 27 games. Put him on a good team and he's <10 minutes and <6 points a game.

He caught a hot hand last night. Dude's still a scrub. A major role player at best.

Ok I can agree with that for the most part, except for on one hand you call him a major role player, but then on the other you call him a scrub.

You are absolutely right though, he caught a hot hand. Thats exactly what I said. The guys not a all star or anything, but he has a little ability, especially offensively. Just enough to occasionally catch a hot hand and have a big game.

Boston is now on a 2 game losing streak I bet the Cavs still dont get the respect they deserve. Boston just lost to a non-playoff team that were playing without 2 starters.

Just a follow up to my post. I checked to confirm, and since coming to Washington this season, where he is getting more minutes, and starting(obviously because Wash is not as good of a team as NO) James is averaging just under 11. Definitely not a star but anybody who can regularly put up double digit points in the NBA is a decent player.

i agree... i think they caught a scare the other night, they went onto the floor thinking they were going to obliterate the wiz, and i know the cavs didn't play great, but tip your cap to washington, they played an outstanding game, nobody has played the cavs that well on their own floor, not even houston the other night...

winning 41 at home is a nice thought, but it's not going to happen, and i think the last few games is proof that it could be coming soon. this is the nba, and these guys are all professionals, it's gonna happen, the more important thing is how they respond after it happens, i still expect them to win at least 35 games at the q this year...

they did show a lot the other night though, because it looked bad, and they kept their composure, and hit their shots, and got stops at the other end, it was a great effort, i don't care who it was against...

as far as mike james goes, he's not an all star, but he's done this to us before, he's a great bench player, i'd love to have a guy like that coming off the bench, he's an extremely streaky shooter, and we caught him on the wrong night.

you really gotta hand it to washington, they're undermanned, as far as being elite, but they always fight until the end, i think it's jamison more than anything, the guy is so underrated...

it's nice to see boston dropping a few too, i know everyone is talking about the bulls 72 win record, i don't think anyone will break that this year, i don't think anyone will even get to 70, both the cavs and the celtics will end up with wins in the mid 60's...

but hey, we're now a game back of them, but more importantly tied in the loss column, and we've played 2 less games...we also haven't gone out west, but last year we played pretty well on our west coast trip, we've done very well in the state of california over the last 2 seasons.

i think this makes jan 9th a huge game, both teams could be tied in the loss column when it goes down. it may not get the hype that lakers/celts get, but it will be bigger...

Cavaliers G Szczerbiak out one week

CLEVELAND (TICKER) —Cleveland Cavaliers guard Wally Szczerbiak will miss approximately one week due to contusions in his right knee, the team announced Saturday.

Szczerbiak underwent an MRI on Friday, two days after playing just 15 1/2 minutes in Cleveland’s 93-89 victory over Washington.

The Cavaliers said in a statement that Szczerbiak has been experiencing swelling in his knee over the last few games. The 10-year veteran has struggled of late, averaging 4.8 points over his last four games.

The 6-7 Szczerbiak is averaging a career-low 6.6 points in 28 games this season.

No biggie...Zerb's is the one guy we can do without...I cringe at his D...And he's virtually lost his shot...If we make a move...This is the dude that MUST be involved...Cause he sure as heck ain't part of the equation...

More minutes for Pavs...Depth is a beautiful thang...

D down the stretch was phenomenal. Forcing Wade into turnovers and poor shots was crucial. I love that they don't fold under pressure like they would've the past couple seasons.

J/C..

Went back to Cleveland on Christmas Eve and just got back last nite. I went to both the Wizards and Heat games at home. Had great seats to the Miami game thanks to my hook up down at the Heat..

Gotta give props to Mo. Guy has big balls, that's for sure.. He has really made some big shots down the stretch those last few games.

We are definitely playing a bit sloppy on offense right now. Off the ball we have gotten a bit stagnent. We also seem to be shooting a lot of 3's late in the clock. Gotta keep moving and the rest takes care of itself. We are good enough to "flip on the switch" when we are at home. That gets a lot tougher on the road against good teams.. Big game tonite. Heat are gonna come out pumped since we gave them quite a bit of "hope" on Sunday. LBJ's birthday is today as well....

i think it's going to be a rough one tonight, although the betting public feels differently...

this game opened at cavs -5, and it has jumped up to -6...

i think i may lay some money on the heat...

i expect wade to attack the rim more... the cavs can win, but i think it will be a close game...

it's probably good we're away from the q, because i think this streak has us pressing...

would it be good or bad to have a home loss before the 9th?

anyone who has nbatv, right now theyre showing game 5 of the eastern conference finals from 2 years ago... lebron's 48

watching this, makes me realize how much better we are...

and one thing going unnoticed, while everyone's jaw dropped at lbj's performance, eric snow's defense was unbelievably good. although it is understandable why that gets overlooked.

it's pretty cool to think a team we had that went to the finals 2 years ago, is significantly better than that, right now.

It would be bad, losing is never good. The recent struggling play at home has nothing to do with us feeling pressure, it just has to do with the fact that this is a long season and it is hard to stay focused night in and night out, especially against teams that are a bit inferior..

Don't put too much stock in Jan 9th. Yes, it is a big game, but win or lose, a game in January is not gonna mean too much in the grand scheme of things. Gotta keep everything in perspective. Boston is a championship team, so it won't really effect them much mentally even if we run them outta the gym. Quite honestly, I put more stock in the West coast trip we have coming up in the middle of January. To me, it shows much more if we can keep winning on the road. No matter what happens at home, we all know that come May-June, we are a gorilla to take down at the Q...

Most important thing for this team is to just stay healthy and stay consistently focused.... Like you talk about all the time, the key to winning homecourt is to beat the teams you should beat.

I'm certain that the Celtics run is helping to keep the Cavs focused.. they can't afford a let down at all if they want any chance of having home court.. hell they could win 70 games and still might not get homecourt.

Oh, definitely DC. My point is that even though we could kill Boston on the 9th, there is a long way to go. We still have both our West Coast swings, as well as at San Antonio and at Houston. Winning the 9th is great, but going say 6-2 against the top 8 in the West on the road would mean even more IMO... And hell, we already won at Denver...

Well, if we are really watching the "scoreboard" AND "standings, we should be hella motivated tonite since Boston has to play AT Portland later this evening.

Tonite could be a great chance to gain a game...

i know the 9th is just one of 82, but, in terms of any tiebreakers, and really just head to head record, it's very important.

home court could win the championshp again. not guaranteed, but with the cavs undefeated so far, it would be nice.
