This is very much one of those questions where if anyone has the answer, I'll be very impressed.

For those of you who have been to the Browns home games, they always play songs while the teams are on the field warming up. One of the songs is sticking in my head, but I can't think of any of the lyrics.

It's not a rap song, which actually limits the number of songs out there (I think 90% of the songs they play before the games are rap songs). It's more of an "alternative" song.

Just thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone knew what it was.

How do you know that? They play a lot of songs during warm up, one of which is "In the Air Tonight" (one of my all time favorite songs). I would THINK he would know what that song is, so I was assuming it was another song.....

Given the vast amount of information to narrow it down, I have racked my brain and along with the timing of the asking of the question, I believe I have nailed it:

I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas
Gayla Peevey, recorded in 1953
Lyrics and music by John Rox

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
Don't want a doll, no dinky Tinker Toy
I want a hippopotamus to play with and enjoy

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
I don't think Santa Claus will mind, do you?
He won't have to use our dirty chimney flue
Just bring him through the front door,
that's the easy thing to do

I can see me now on Christmas morning,
creeping down the stairs
Oh what joy and what surprise
when I open up my eyes
to see a hippo hero standing there

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles, no rhinoceroses
I only like hippopotamuses
And hippopotamuses like me too

(Short Music Interlude)

Mom says the hippo would eat me up, but then
Teacher says a hippo is a vegeterian

(Short Music Interlude)

There's lots of room for him in our two-car garage
I'd feed him there and wash him there and give him his massage

I can see me now on Christmas morning,
creeping down the stairs
Oh what joy and what surprise
when I open up my eyes
to see a hippo hero standing there

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles or rhinoceroseses
I only like hippopotamuseses
And hippopotamuses like me too!

lol, which is why I said it would be mighty impressive if anyone knew the answer.

It's not "In the Air Tonight". I don't really consider that to be "alternative." It's a faster song with good guitar in it and a good beat. I feel like I'm on American Bandstand. "It's got a good beat and you can dance to it."

Shep, I don't think it was the hippo song. While that may be "alternative", I don't think it's the kind I was thinking of.

Braylon Edwards vetoed that one, they might play it next year.

Actually, I believe it was last season, Braylon was doing the O-H-I-O part when they play it before the 4th quarter during a game I was at. Maybe it was '06.
