www.KFFL.comCardinals | James says he won't return to team in 2009 Fri, 02 Jan 2009 08:07:21 -0800 ESPN.com reports Arizona Cardinals RB Edgerrin James said he will not return to the team next season, even though he has a year remaining on his contract. "I can't go through this again," James told ESPN's Bob Holtzman. "I didn't come here to block. I'm not an offensive lineman."

I'm just wondering here... ARE there players who want to return to the Cardinals? Who's been their primary RB this year? Hightower and Arrington? I haven't had the misfortune to watch a Cardinals game (just the misfortune to watch Browns game after Browns game!!)

I just like his rationale that he doesn't want to block.

lol, has he broken any laws as of late?
James has to be considered such a bust, IMO, for the Cardinals. Yeah, they don't have the best O-line in the world, but they're not terrible, either. And, you see how well Addai has done in Indy. Makes you wonder if Edge's yards were attributable in large part to Indy's offensive line.

he's a good running back, he's just a little past his prime at this part....another Jamal Lewis. Will still run hard and give you glimpes of what once was, but not an every down back anymore.

Don't say that......I got Cedric Benson as a late round keeper in my Fantasy league this year, and I'm hoping that it turns into something pretty good.....

Sometimes reality bites...........
Hey Edge! At this stage of your career? You ain't gonna be NOBODY's savior no matter where ya go!
Yes, sometimes reality bites......
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

It seems every time his team gets into the playoffs (gets good) he wants out. What's wrong with that guy?

trading for Bolding would be a great idea.....getting more dead weight like James would be a bad idea.....and losing Edwards would also be bad......

Since when does making a statement about your own career make a guy a "cancer"? Unless I missed something here, all Edge is saying is that he didn't come to the Cards to be a blocking back. And he's right.
He may have lost a step or even two which means he's not the back he once was but I can see why he doesn't want to be relegated to the 3rd string. Doesn't make him a cancer. It makes him candid. Big difference.
The same thing goes with whoever you may think is a cancer on this team. If the coach or coaches are playing favorites, that can tear a team apart. But a guy with a big mouth is just a guy with a big mouth. Unless he's ripping his teammates. If the other guys can't deal with a loudmouth then they have other issues, IMO.

True. But I didn't reply to you. Bigdatut said something about our "cancer". A good chunk of my post had to do with that.

Although it looks as if they did, I truley think they thought that Hightower was the better back...I guess they think that if they give Edge the ball 10 times a game, he should just automatically get them 100 yards......you need to get a rhythem going, and it takes more than 5-10 carries to do that.....just look at San Diego this year with LT......I just think that he wants out so bad that he is running with a chip on his shoulder so that he can sign with someone next season...personally, I think he still has a year or two left......

I wasn't even talking about Edgerrin - I was talking about our "mini-Chad" IMO, Braylon. To me he's like Chad Johnson of two to three years ago without a track record of on field success.
About Edgerrin I don't want him but it has nothing to do with anything he says - I just don't think he's that good anymore. I can't see him being any better than Lewis right now and I can't see either one of them happy as a backup with limited playing time - so why not save a headache and not pursue him?

http://www.abc15.com/content/sports/card...-xiuTj8Tcw.cspxI dont know if this was brought up before or not.. If it has been go ahead and delete it But is this a guy you would consider picking up for the right price if he were to be released? If we could get him for a fair price and load his contract up with incentives a hungry jamal lewis and edgerrin james backfield could be our QBs best friend. Theres no doubt hes still got some in the tank and since we missed out on Derrick Ward would James be a guy to consider? The rb crop in this years draft is pretty deep so if we plan on taking a rb on the first day i dont think the browns would consider this.

Personally...no.
The whole reason people are hungry to upgrade the position is because JL is running out of steam...why bring in another guy who is doing the same?

Yeah, I do agree although I do think that if a running back we want is not available to us in the draft perhaps getting james would hold us over for a year or so until we can get one we want rather than having to possibly draft a guy earlier than he should be drafted.

Honestly, I would rather get some one-cut bruiser back that is either a UDFA this year or is put on waivers by someone else over the summer. We need a RB who is hungry, willing to play ST to provide depth, and can provide power.
A guy like PJ Hill or Chris Ogbannaya would be RBs to look at IMO if we can't find a suitable one to draft.

Harrison can't be an every down back simply due to his size (Or at least that is my opinion).
My guess is that we will pick up a RB in the first three rounds. We need a RB who is more of a bruiser to complement Harrison. I like the running back tandem idea. It seems to be catching on around the league.

As noted, we've allready got an aging ball-hoggin' running back. We don't need one another one that KNOWS he still deserves the ball 25-times a game.

Neither Barry Sanders, nor Gale Sayers, nor our Leroy Kelly were big backs and they carried the rock and caught passes and returned punts and kickoffs. Get Harrison the ball dagummit.......
