I'm going to be out in San Francisco for quite some time, and was looking for some things to do, see, and eat. Anyone?

I have been told that San Fran has some great sushi spots. Thats about all I know, which is kind of funny since I was born in Alameda.

There are a handful of things to do and see there. Plus, it's just a chill place ... one of the best cities in the country. Just do some research on the web and you'll find a ton of stuff. It's a cool place. Great weather. Beautiful skyline ... one of the best.
Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, viewing the skyline at night from Treasure Island ... those are a few things. Ride a trolley car, take a drive down the windiest street in the world ... Lombard.
Northern California rocks. You could also head up to Napa Valley for a day or so and do some wine tasting.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

I was there last summer, make sure you check out Pier 39, there is a ton to do there, and also check out China Town, it is really neat. Walking across the Golden Gate Bridge is also an experience. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pier_39 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinatown,_San_Francisco,_California

If you are going to be there, which it appears you are, head out to alcatraz. It's a great half day trip. For an out of towner, not going there is akin to going to Hawaii and not going to Pearl Harbor.

I'm heading out there in March myself - was out there a couple of years ago, and can honestly say it is my favorite city that I've ever been to.
You will feel safe wherever you wander in the city. Amazing restaurants all around. I had great sushi at the Sushi Rock in Chinatown. Went to an amazing wine bar near the main trolley stop too. Plenty to do at the Fisherman's Wharf area, but just fun walking around the city in general.

I moved out here from Cleveland 25+ years ago. Don't know where to begin since there is so much to see and do. I'd begin with a trip (or 2) to Napa Valley. My favorite winery is V. Sattui. Can't buy their wine anywhere but the winery. It's the best in the Valley. I also like Praeger Port Winery across the street from Sattui.
Don't forget Monterrey and Carmel. Check out Pebble Beach and the rest of the famous golf courses on 17 Mile Drive. The Monterrey Aquarium is breathtaking. Also check out Cannery Row and the Monterrey Fisherman's Wharf.
Over the Golden Gate Bridge is Sausalito and Tiburon. Artsy towns with unreal views and great places to eat, drink, and check out the locals.
Back in the City, Golden Gate Park is a wonder. Clement St. offers some of the best Asian food in town. It's a lot more for the locals than China Town. North Beach for Italian. The lower Haight has great bars and restaurants and again, is a lot less touristy than Haight/Ashbury. Cleaner too. Check out the Toronado, best beer bar in town. Make sure you stop by AT & T Park where the Giants play ball. The Acme Chop House next to the main entrance is open all year round. They make a great Martini. Around the corner is McCovey Cove and the team shop. Worth a look see.
Dress warm. The fog cools us down quickly at night. Highs lately have been in the 50's and lows in the high 30's, low 40's. Enjoy your stay. Go Browns!!

Well there's lots to do and see in SF, I was there back in my Navy days, which was along time ago. One cool thing to do is ride the street cars, but don't start singing the rice-a-roni jingle, it's not very well received, and there were some good little mom and pop resturants over in the Berkly area.

I liked it. It's kind of a punky little place, but not loud or obnoxious. Not too busy until later in the night. Good drinks. The punkest guy I ever met (a local) took me there if that tells you anything. Good times.

I'm going to misspell this but Geordelli Square.. the Marconi Center and the Golden Gate Bridge are places you gotta see. There is a market there,, for the life of me I can't remember the name of it,, but it was down by the water front.. get there if you can. something wharf I think. Maybe Fishermans Wharf.. not sure. San Francisco is the birthplace of Bank of Italy... better known today as Bank of America (bet you guys didn't know that one)... if you get a chance, visit some of the jazz clubs... I went there and once happened to see a little jass band... Sly Stones Drummer was playing with them and suddenly, Sly himself got up and performed.. tons of famous musicians visit and sometimes sit in at the many jazz clubs in the area. I stayed at the JW Marriott near the Marconi Center.. folks, now that's a hotel,, Really nice town with lots of night life.. enjoy yourself

Thanks everyone.
Been out here a couple of days now. Staying in a beautiful hotel, in an UGLY neighborhood...but I'm from Cleveland, I'm used to ugly neighborhoods.
This is definitely a unique place. Driving around out here is INSANE!!!!!! I'm out here for my job, so haven't had a chance to really get around yet. I did make it to Twin Peaks today, but it was foggy, so the view was a little obstructed, but it was still breathtaking. You can see clear to Oakland...I can't imagine the view on a clear day...I can't wait until this fog rolls out.
It's been a little chilly too. But, nowhere near as cold as what I left.
Anyway, I'll post an update for those who are interested in my adventures out here.
BTW, I don't drink wine, so Napa Valley is not on my to do list. Also, Alcatraz is EXPENSIVE!
Keep the suggestions coming.
I work for AT&T and we had some work to do in Candlestick. Got park in the players' lot, of course no one for FO people were there, including Mike Singletary, but I didn't see him of course. That place reminds me of Municipal Stadium, old and raggedy...but perfect for football! AT&T Park kind of blends into it's surroundings, it looked almost like another office building.
Signing off...
