Ok, that's kind of what I was getting at, and I wasn't making myself clear. I know it would be a promotion to make him a GM. I'm just wondering if, in order to GIVE him that promotion, he has to have the final say over the 53 man roster. In other words, do all GMs have final say over the 53 man roster?

No, I dont think a GM has to have final say on roster moves. I just think that's what the NFL job has turned into by virtue that most do.

No, not all GMs have final say. I don't know if it's true that his contract reads that way, but that's what the Ravens supposedly said. Who knows for sure?

One thing I do know is that it won't matter who has final say, as Mangini stated, because everyone will be on the same page.

I like the OC choice. I also like Callahan if he comes here. I hate to break it to some posters, but the people put in place spell out something rather clearly (this is an opinion and not something I've heard....yet). BQ is going to be the QB of the franchise. The system that will be run favors a BQ style QB. So, bye bye DA. He will be a terrible fit for the system coming....a hybrid of NE and the WCO.

That's what secretaries are for, right?

I guess my original questions remains unanswered. In order for Kokinis to be able to come here and for it not to be considered a "lateral move", does he have to be given control over the 53 man roster?

I answered it....he isn't a GM, and will be here. It isn't a lateral move.

GM doesn't mean you have roster control.

There are plenty of teams with GM's who allow the coach to pick his players.

My roommate says he felt uncomfortable in front of the camera. I thought otherwise. I thought he felt comfortable to be in front of the Browns banner, almost relieved to be away from the New York media.

I have a feeling he has a better relationship with our media because of his beginnings, hence a better comfort level.

What does this have to do with in-game coaching? Nothing. I just don't think he'll be so villified as was in NY and is willing to be a little less paranoid with us, while keeping quiet about certain issues.

I liked what he had to say. I really liked hearing about the coaching style the second time around. He basically confirmed what we expected via rumor, IMO.

We'll see where this goes. This was only a press conference, but I think he has the correct philosophies on how to assemble a team.

Peen, Baltimore is stating that Coke's contract states he has to be given full roster control to be allowed to go to another team. So, you are right, but in this instance (if true), Coke would have to have final say.

Well, in any event, if everyone's on the same page, then it shouldn't really matter.

I think that will be the case as well.

Something I read somewhere on here was lerner talking about that....talking to other owners..I think he said in cases where some teams don't arrive at a consensus, the owner sometimes breaks the "tie"

Point is...who knows how it will be done here.....but it won't be a case where the GM and his scouts hole up in a corner room somewhere hoping the coaches don't find them as they don't really want their opinion.

No offense to him, he seems like a nice guy. But thank God

Now we just need to find a decent backup for Quinn. The skill sets of the two QB's right now are too different for one to backup the other and keep the same Offense. Plus, I think we found out that Dorsey is currently at his top level as a 3rd stringer/position coach. Maybe Gradkowski? I forget if he's a fit for a WCO type of Offense ...

So you put down in his contract that he has final say,, then you all wink and nod at each other before it's signed...
