I will truly miss referring to your coach as "Fat Albert" and "Milk Dud".

That said, I was wondering if we were allowed to refer to Mangini as "Mangina", a very popular nickname (at least for Steeler fans) while he was coaching the Jets.

Would this be allowed, or would you consider that to be unacceptable?

If my opinion matters, I wouldn't care. After the butch and rac years, I have a feeling all of Cleveland will sit back and wait for him to earn their respect before calling him real name.

Maybe that's just the perfect fit for us now? We don't trust him and it will force him to work harder and learn from his past mistakes.

"Milk Dud" never was funny...even if RAC sucked as a HC. I don't care what anyone says, it has racial undertones. If it doesn't, then I fully expect people to call Mangini the same name since he's a chunk himself.

So, if you call someone the Michellin Man, is that racist towards white people?

That's a serious question...

I don't see the big issue with "Milk Dud"...

No silly, there is no way to be rascist to whites.

Oh, please note that I did not say rascist in my post. You brought that in, not me.

Also, how do you feel about "fat Albert"?

Actually, I was thinking Mangini reminded me a little of Flounder (Kent Dorfman) from Animal House ... but that's just me.

I guess I don't like any of these nicknames people give players and coaches.. His name is Mangini,,, That's what I'll call him..

But you are referring to the smack shack, a place I'm not sure if I've ever posted, so maybe in there it's acceptable to call people names.. I wouldn't know.

I just find it tacky.

That is only if he is a "Dud" also. I never heard the name before and I am glad. I didn't think it had any racial overtones until you pointed it out. I'm not sure how much I agree with you but I do see your point.

The other thing that is hysterical is that if I said the same thing, even though still just as true, I'd get at least a two week ban.

Yeah, there's never a double standard here........

Oh, and before we get to the lecture phase of this thread let me say I really do find this funny. So there is no need for anyone to get all huffy and start in on me.

You'd be banned for saying what I just said? Right.

The sig is not as any kind of "back-up." The sig illustrates how comical I believe it to be that anyone would think that "Milk Dud" is racial.

I meant in your opinion it is not racial. Settle down and think about what you read. Your Knight in Shining Armor looks a little tarnished....better do some shining.

My paranoia?.......C'mon, you don't think that if I was razzing a certain person like you are that I wouldn't be getting a little downtime?

I see the overall sense of humor here is still at the bottom of the meter.......

I just want to be clear...I don't think Christy had any agenda behind it. She obviously doesn't think it has any racial overtones. My point was I didn't think it was until Michelle brought it up. I don't agree with the analogy that was used to point it out. Maybe I'm to PC but the fact that milk duds are brown does make me wonder about some of the orgins of the saying. I think I'm probablyin the minority.

I will say I have seen the "Knight in shining armour" applies to others on here as well. I don't have a significant other on here but I have come to the defense of some of the women on here I care about.

Then again what do I know...I'm "holier then thou."

I don't get this "racially overtoned" Milk Dud crap,....

A Milk Dud is a big fat piece of candy that is bad for you if you eat enough of them. Four years was enough.

I know of people who have used it to mean something racially derogatory and admitted to it. So for some, it is meant that way. For other's, probably not. I have no doubt that Christy did not mean it that way. But the fact that some people do and have meant it that way makes me dislike it when he's called that. It's my own personal opinion which I'm entitled to....even if those rushing in to try to save the honor of someone think it's necessary to make fun of my opinion in a signature. Opinion or not, there are people who use it that way.

This is a stupid smack thread being disguised as a legitimate question, that's why I got involved. The rest of it is all just people's take on the name calling.

I've never heard a white person called a milk dud.

Thanks for the explanation,...this tells me that my judgement in not using it at all was sound.

I never called him any names except RAC, and did so hoping someone would rack him like they did William Wallace in "BraveHeart," colloquially speaking.

Since that was directed at me, I find it hard to believe most wouldn't find "Milk Dud" racial when referring to a fat black man. If it isn't meant to have racial undertones, then I ask again -- why won't people call Mangini "Milk Dud"?

Well JM 2 cents. I think you are right it is racial, because of the fact that a milk dud is fat, round and brown. SO because of him being fat, round, and his skin is brown, it could be said that Romeo resembles a milk dud. SO in that aspect race plays a part in it, so therefore it could be said it is racial. Since Mangini is white, he wouldnt fit the description of a milk dud. Maybe a yogurt covered raisin ?

So do I.. This is trash and smack talk and extremely hypocritical on Christy and Ref 1's part. All she has to do is walk into the kitchen and ask Ref 1 to get the answer.

She knew the answer before she wrote this. Funny how I get a humor post post deleted by Ref 1 for being smack talk, when Christy gets away with this one, then Ref 1 backs her ignorant, stupid and racially appalling play with a sig that is equally disgusting.

I can only shake my head and wait for the day we get fair and balanced moderation. It can't happen soon enough.

I didn't know if it would fly or not, that is why the question was posed here. I am not the decision maker on things that fall into gray areas, and this one damn sure did in my opinion.
