I am a bit troubled by the delay in Kokinis getting on board.
I hope he isn't doing that.

I'd kinda like to know what the delay is also... I mean, it could be as simple as reaching the final numbers etc...but I can't imagine it taking this long over money... I'm wondering if he's pondering control levels etc...

Yeah I am beginning to wonder what the hold up is myself. Hopefully this is just a case of hashing out money/responsibilities, and not a road block that can't be overcome or Koke getting cold feet.

All I can say is IF that scenario is true and we once again have fired a GM , in Mr.Savage who IMHO could have worked well will Coach Mangini and also missed out on getting a experienced GM to replace him that is just unforgiveable ....

While that's true, the process of looking at him began just after Mangini was hired. so it's not been JUST 5 Days. It's been more like 2 weeks. And there has been Two interviews with Lerner and two days spent in Berea speaking with Mangini and his Coordinators.

Yeah, does anyone else think this whole thing is getting a little weird with him being here earlier in the week, meeting with our coaches and then "supposedly" meeting with Lerner but still no announcement? It could be nothing but it really makes me wonder what's going on that we're not aware of.

I do think it is a process, things had to be worked out between Mangini and Kokinis, and then those two reported to have a final meeting with Lerner to explain how they will work together. By all accounts, that should have been accomplished by now- so what's the hold up. I'll give them a pass for inauguration day, but that didn't stop the dolphins from completing their sale. If this thing doesn't get done today, one can't help but think things are a bit weird and might not be coming together with Kokinis.

I'm thinking it will be announced today. Just a "gut feeling." But I'm also prepared for it not to happen. And if it is because Magini & Kokinis couldn't see eye to eye, I'm going to get a bit nervous. My initial reaction would be that Mangini might be as difficult to work with as some say. But I'm not one to be a doom & gloomer. Let's get this done & get on w/ the offseason!

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I think it is somewhat funny that some of the people who were whining that we were "settled" on someone for GM, are the same people who are now complaining that we are "stalling" to adegree or dropping the ball sort of speak. There is some bitching just to bitch going on in this thread.

That was a good one pit.... TO be honest, yeah, I'm somewhat confused as to why it's taking so long to get this done...but like someone else said, it's a process... I'm not panicking yet..

I'm not sure who you're referring to, but I know it isn't me. I've been pretty neutral about this thing from the start and in all honesty, I've leaned more toward the side if liking these moves more than anything else. Which is why I'm so anxious to see it get done. To my knowledge, there have only been a handful of guys who have openly expressed their disgust for Lerner's handling of this and I haven't seen them post anything here.

Yeah. They got a microscope for Christmas instead of the Big Wheel they wanted. It won't be ending any time soon.

Any chance they make the "Big Wheel" in an adult size ??
I would love to have one,...
I would like it if George would come to work,...just heard on ESPN, it still seems to be an issue that the "Browns are still without a GM,..."

I think this is the situation...and its just a guestimation but probably fairly accurate.
He met with the big 3 of the coaching staff. I think they are off to Alabama or are now deep in check looking at tape after the recommendations of personnel were made by Kokinis.
The Personnel department are all at the Senior Bowl doing their job there.
Kokinis just ended a long season and is ready to embark on a mission that will entail him to submerse himself 24/7 for probably the next 8 months.
He met with Randy...if a negative Randy would be pursuing his other options...we don't see that. Obviously they have an agreement maybe even a signed one.
Kokinis is probably taking a well deserved vacation with his family just to clear himself so that he can start fresh and stress free for his new task. Remember he had to work through Christmas and New Years.
He wasn't going to be introduced as our new GM and then his first action was to take a VACATION the silly nilly crowd would go beserk
So he's taking his time off now...come back refreshed and ready to go. Randy will probably announce him as our new GM on Monday. And he will be hard at work from then till at least September before he can take a breath!

That just makes too much sense. And, as usual, the simplest explanation is probably the correct one. I hope you're right so the team can have this resolved in plenty of time to get ready for the draft. Something tells me that you are onto something.

Just plagerism - I believe it was Major Kehoe who said that to Colonel Custer as they went against Gen. Cooks orders.

I didn't read the entire thread so someone else might have thrown this out there.. but I was just kinda wondering if maybe the hold up is Nothing more than Koks wanting to speak with his family about the move before he commits? I mean he's married and had three kids. So you gotta wonder.
Just thowing that out there... He supposedly spoke to Lerner again either Wednesday or Thursday so maybe he went home to talk it over with the wife....

Im sure that he has had numerous discussions with his family prior to being interveiw for the job. After all his name was out there for several weeks prior to being interveiw. I think its just Leaner, him and his agent getting together ironing out the details of the contract.

Or, maybe it's as simple as this....the offer was made and accepted, but after all the staff reductions in the Browns front office there's no one capable of putting together a press release!

Well, if he's human like the rest of us, this is a SMART thing to do,....
Of course, if I was taking a 7-plus figure job, my wife is saying "Where's it at,...let's go !!"
Of course,...I'm not just moving laterally either,....

Your theory is very possible. I think that we will know whether we are getting Koke by the beginning of next week. If it's a done deal without a major road block then he will sign by Wednesday at the latest. If not then we will probably see new names being thrown around for GM sometime by mid week.

Same here. For what its worth, one doesn't get the sense that he was "part of the problem" - just didn't bring enough to the table at this point.
Definitely best wishes in the future.

Look at the upside, there's always flipping a coin and Lerner appears to have enough of those to get us through April. Its practically a tradition by now.

I'm also reading that scouts have gotten fired.....
I hope SOMEONE knows what the hell they are doing come the end of April.

With someone new taking over the lead on college scouting - it would seem pretty normal for there to be some turn-over. With the mass turn-over when Savage came in, its probably for the best. They should know by now who's working in this system and who's not.

We hear: Mr. Kokinis likely as not will be announced as the new GM today, but he’ll remain the invisible man until Monday at the earliest, when he might appear at a press conference. Meanwhile, the temperature inside the building at 76 Lou Groza Boulevard remains near 76 below. The consensus perception among the effected is that the Browns are a meteor on fire and about to crash, and that Eric Mangini and Mike Keenan show no signs of caring about who gets squashed beneath their boots. You thought they already crashed? This is worse. Dark humor prevails: Employee No. 1: “Hey, get a load of what one co-worker said … ‘The way they’re running this since Mangini got here, they’re not going to win. I used to care.’ ” Employee No. 2: “Would the co-worker happen to be Mangini?” Mangini comes in and locks the doors. The January air is thick with cloak and dagger. Deep depression lurks at the door. You can’t help but wonder if there’s more to this than Mangini, a fired coach, and Kokinis, a first-time GM with a much lighter resume than Phil Savage had in 2005. The thought process churns. You know the owner likes Parcells. You know Parcells can be available if he so chooses. In a building where “you’re gone” has been ricocheting like a berserk pinball, you wonder what kind of appetite for saying, “Yes sir, Bill.” You wonder a lot of things with this outfit these days. We’re seeing and sensing rampant madness. Surely there is a method? linkI guess my question is: who the heck cares how Mangini/Keenan are dealing with things? What matters most is winning this coming season and beyond. I see people complaining that Mangini is the "invisible man." Well, I don't remember if we hired a head coach, or if we hired someone to be a PR darling.

Am I the only one who sees the irony in this ? Apparently TJ showed enough in his former position to warrant an interview for the vacnt GM job, only to fired from said job a week later. I guess he just doesn't fit in with the new paint scheme in Berea.
Indecision may,or maynot,be my problem
