I know it can be done, just a bit of work.
Does anybody have a ballpark idea of what an electrician would charge to run the wiring?
I will supply the wiring and everything needed, but need to pay for actually running the wire.
Any idea what this might cost me?

Most licensed electricians will not do this, they are liable so they will want to use their own supplier.

Correct.

I would also add that electricians buy their supplies at a lesser cost than you or I - at least most of the time. They then mark those up to a level that you or I pay, thereby making a profit on them, as well as profiting from the labor.

I think it would be difficult to find a certified electrician willing to work for labor only, I might be wrong, though. (unless you have a friend, or a friend of a friend).

Good call guys.
I have heard that they will want to use their own wire but wasn't sure.
I have an uncle who I can get wire through for half the cost than I can buy it at Home Depot, Lowes etc.

I was thinking I could save some money this way.
Any idea what they would charge? I will find out in a few days, but I am excited about doing this to my living room and have no patience. Just trying to get an advance dollar figure to know if it's a go or no go.
Thanks!

I'm sure I could do it myself, but if I screw up and burn the house down I'm sure my insurance company wouldn't cover me because it wasn't done by a professional.

Cost will definitely vary according to where you live, how big of a rush you are in, how much the guy/company marks up the labor rate to make up for losing on the parts mark up, etc, as well as how hard the job is going to be, obviously.

I'm no electrician, so I wouldn't even hazard a guess on cost.

And I know what you mean by not wanting to do it yourself. That's why we hire professionals - for their knowledge and ability.

Probably the best thing to do would be to call some companies, tell them over the phone exactly what you're thinking, and see if they would come out to give you a quote or an estimate (there is a difference) If they will give you a price, you're making progress!

What you may need to do though is find an independent guy - someone that has done work for friends or family. Get a price from them as well (remember, the little sole proprietor doesn't get the same discounts on prices that the bigger companies get. They are also more flexible generally in their pricing. At least in my experience. Make sure they are qualified though!!! You don't want someone that says "yeah, I did my house 5 years ago" or something like that.

Good luck. I have a feeling you'll be getting a small 1 man operation type to do it.
