I just wondered if anyone has done this yet.....you pretty much run your own team, from the draft to the style of D you run....I just started my league and I have been scouting my players for the draft so far.......it seems to be kinda like Madden as far as rating the players and such, but it does tell you who the player is modeled after....which is pretty cool.....I haven't started the season yet or anything, I was just throwing it out there and seing if anyone else has done it yet.....

Yeah, being a football nut as I am, I dig this sort of thing....in Madden, that is my favorite part, the offseason....and drafting the players and such......I can't wait to see how this thing pans out.....it keeps records, you have to give each player reps in training camp to make them better, but not to much as to injure them, pretty much everything you would do as a coach.....the one thing I haven't seen so far is anything about a salary cap, which if that is the case, then you will have some people I'm sure taking multiple teams in a league and trading all of the good players to one team.....which would end up ruining it for everyone else......

I am the same way. My favorite part of Madden is drafting and building up players and my org. I signed up and was about to pick Cleveland in something called "dion", who I assume started that league. But I have no clue who Dion is or what is going on as of now Can a group of us start a league if we have enough people?
Our honor defend, we will fight to the end, for OHIO! GO BUCKS!

They just name the leagues funny names, nobody creates them, just the web-guru people....and yes, we could all get in a league...we would almost have to all be on at the same time and then go in and take over a league...not sure how fast they fill up, but it would be nice to make sure everyone got in that wanted too......

My 1st season just started, and it seems to simulate pretty close to what type of players you have...I'm digging it...they also seem to police it VERY well.....in the forums some people post threads about glitches and stuff like that, but support ALWAYS answers the thread and gives an explanation to what is going on...so I don't think anyone can really cheat at it.....I just signed up in another league I love it so much......but more than willing to do a 3rd if we could somwhow get one going with people from here......

Yeah, I'm having that same problem.....I had to run a 3-4 because I lost my D-lineman due to injury....plus I have 4 good LB's with at least 90 potential....but I still give up 145 to the opposing team.....I'm Cleveland in the Carson league....and I just picked up Seattle in the Payton league..they are pretty good...built to win for maybe 2 years...alot of players are at least 90..got a couple around 95-100...but they are at least 10 year veterans.....my draft is sunday........ and no, you don't get anything for referrals...just go to sportsims.net and create a user ID...and it will take you to select a team automatically I think.....

Well I just signed up, I got the New Jersey team in the 'Scoot' League. What is the first thing I should be doing? Just looking for a little push in the right direction. Looks like it is getting ready to draft. Any positions better to draft?

First thing you need to do is take a look at the Free Agents available and see if any of them can be helpful in finishing out your team. Then you need to plan for the draft, see where you need help and put together of players who might be available when you pick. You also need to look at your roster and see if you should make any trades. Make sure you use IE as your browser for this site cause Mozilla/firefox and others may not show the pages right.

Frenchy, You have alot of older players on Defense so i would start there but it depends what your gonna run defensively, you running the 3-4 or the 4-3? and do you plan to win right now or build the team?
If your lookin to run the 3-4 take a look at who your OLBs are gonna be and see what kind of blitz ability they have, they need to be 90+, plus your ILBs need to be strong against the run and the pass, if not you need to see who might be available when you pick. Since your picking 32 the top 3 to 5 LBs will probably be gone.
Next take a look at your DL and see how they stack up, are they pass rushers or DT types? Again the first 3 or 4 DL will probably be gone when you pick so see who might be there when you pick.
I'd say based on the age of your defense i'd look to draft those two spots early and maybe add a DB later. But take a look at who might be available at other positions too you don't want to take a LB who only has 88 potential and pass up a RB or WR who has 95+. The only position you have that you can totally ignore is QB since you have a young guy there who has 100 potential and very good durability. Your pretty strong at RB too, but don't pass up a stud for a decent player at another position.
If your lookin to do this for more then 1 season then you might want to put some of your older players on the trade block and see if you can get any interest.

I'm planning on running the 4-3. As for the older players I'm going to trade them off and get younger, so I'm rebuilding.
I just two players for the 11th pick in round one. That should help a little.
I think I will like this site once I learn a little more about how it works.

Just some info for ya.
When you get to the training camp you get a set amount of reps to divide between all your players of that position. The more reps you give a player the more his rating moves toward his potential, but you have to watch your players durability, if his durability is a low number and you give him too many reps he could get hurt. Also your players ratings will go up as they gain playing time, since your rebuilding you may want to start a few of your rookies.
When you start your games take a look at each opponent before you play them and see how they work, are they a running team or are they a passing team?, and adjust your game plan accordingly.
Something else you want to do is after the draft is over take a look every so often at the FAs again, cause a people set their rosters they may cut someone who is better then who you have.

Another good tip for the draft.....actually stay for it......I have stayed for both of my teams and have been the only one that stays.....at least it seems.....my 1st draft, I had pick #5...I got the best WR (Isaac Bruce), with my 2nd pick, I got the best TE (Tony Gonzalez), then I got a 93 potential OL in the 3rd...who was projected in the 2nd.....and did well there after also.....I'm not sure how people use the draft tool, or there Hot list, or if they use it at all.....but even in the second draft, same thing happened....people end up taking KR/PR, crappy players way to early and you can sit there and get the cream of the crop.....by doing that, I would say if your re-building, you can do it alot sooner by just simply showing up for the draft.....especially if you draft by best player available.....which is what I ended up doing in the 2nd draft....but like someone else said, be sure to check the ratings of each player by clicking on their name....and I would definitely watch the durability rating.....

I guess not all the leagues drafts start at the same time?? I got a team a few days ago and they were half way through their season already.

No they don't all start at the same time. When you look at the teams next to the league name it shows what day that league is on.

Yeah, ya gotta watch that...what day they are on.....alot of people just abandonship if they take a major injury or are out of playoff contention.....I for one, would rather build my team, but I have seen some decent teams that people just abandon.......

You may also be able to get a team in a league that has been going for awhile. I just picked up Cleveland in a league thats already playing year 16.

Have you had your draft yet? Make sure you look at each players abilities and sort them out accordingly don't just go by the pre-assigned positions (maybe your LT should actually be a RG based on his ratings, maybe your FB is a terrible blocker and should actually be a RB, etc.) Also if your gonna run the 3-4 make sure your OLBs have 90+ blitz ability if not you might want to run a 4-3 until you get your talent level up there.

Ok, I think I can help you a little..I took Cleveland as my very first team, and the roster looked the exact same.....your OL is great.....and your DL is not very good at all...especially the 19 year vet.....want some inside dish....trade him as fast as you can....his 1st game he had like 5 tackles and 2 sacks...and never played again....he has a durability of 1....In my 1st years draft, I got Isaac Bruce in the 1st round...Tony Gonzalaz in the 2nd (both were top 10 proj players) I got a 93 potential OL in the 3rd, a 100 potential punter in the 4th....what I'm getting at is stay for the entire draft, and I promise you can re-build that team in a couple of years.....I went 8-8 I think in the first year......I had one of the best offenses...set / and come close to setting alot of records offensively....out of curiousity, look at your QB's compared to.....is it Dan Fouts.....mine was.....if so, your gonna love him....

J/c this is a question for anyone
How many seasons does a player play for? Do his skills go down as he gets past a certain amount of seasons?
How many seasons does it take for a player to reach his full potential??

I would say he is good for 10-13 seasons before he starts to go downhill....his durability seems to go first...then his overall.....
depending on where the player starts, if you give the max reps in training camp, i would say around 3 seasons...to reach max..unless you get a player that starts above 80....then maybe a lil quicker.....this is just based on my exp.....I had a WR I drafted 5th overall, started a 80+ overall...after 1 season, and training camp, he is now a 94...I guess it depends on what he does in the season too......he led the league in TD's, 3rd in yards....so he wasn't a slouoch....... ...his historic player is Isaac Bruce......

I got Kansas City in the Page league about half way through the season. Went 12 and 4 this season and go into playoffs tommorrow. My problem is I have a lot of player in that 10 to 13 year range. I will be rebuilding next season probably.

Ok, I'm not real sure what I'm allowed to say and not say about this, but apparently the thread I had posted about trying to get a dawgtalker league was against site rules, and I got a spankin...... .....so if your still interested, try messaging me or something.......

Damn i'm excited. My Cincy team only went 7-9 this year but it was enough to win my division and make the playoffs where i have won 3 straight and have advanced to the leagues first SuperBowl. Keeping my fingers crossed that i can pull out a win.

I have KC in the Page league and am playing for the SIM Bowl today. I am playing a better team but I feel good. My team is rated a 87 and I am playing a team rated 91 but in the conference title game I beat a team rated 95(Cleveland ) KING
You may be in the drivers seat but God is holding the map. #GMSTRONG
