unbelievable, allen hits a 3 with .5
Gotta give them credit.. Perfectly drawn up by Doc and executed right on cue....
No one ever said this was gonna be easy...
it's a play we've run several times...
i believe delonte west hit a 3 against washington in the playoffs last year... i don't know, i get all my playoff wins over the wizards mixed up.
the one that comes immediately to mind is the damon jones shot in toronto.

Absolutely, we have run a number of variations of it, like u mentioned... It really is a great play though... You get your stud to catch the ball at the top of the key (or slightly on the wing) as you are running your shooter off a screen directly in the corner... If they dont wanna bring pressure (an extra defender committing) up top, ur stud just takes it to the rack on the one on one iso.. if they bring the heat (like they did Pierce, LB, etc.) their is a shooter open.....
Really is amazing to think how talented these guys are, and how hard they are to stop in crunch time....

yeah... and we have maybe the best player in the world to run that play...
when lebron wants to get to the basket, he can get around 2 guys, if they send 3, you leave the defense in the hands of the 3 point shooters...
we don't have ray allen, or really anyone close, but we have guys that will knock down shots.
man, if you had lebron and ray allen on the same team, you could run that play all night, lolz...

great win from the boys tonight. they really had a great 4th quarter, and the bench stepped up, wally had a decent game too... maybe he's finally finding his niche...
Yeah, I've noticed that too. Wally's been playing a lot better lately. Sure, he's still a bit of a liability on defense, but if he keep hitting his shots, that's going to be big, come playoff time.
I get the feeling that we WON'T be making a move for anybody this year. I don't think teams are going to be willing to give up guys with 2 years left on thier contract, and Ferry isn't going to want to take on a large-contracted mercenary and blow our 2010 FA chances.
What we really need is a big-man, and I'm not sure I see a whole lot out there that people might be willing to trade. I get the feeling it's going to be a really slow trade market for everybody in general.

i love how all the articles on the game tonight are about if lebron can top kobe's 61 from monday night
simple answer: no
hard to score 61 when you're on the bench in the 4th quarter.

Will Lebron score 61? No.
Will the Cavs give up 117 points to one of the worst teams in the NBA? No.

Has Lebron EVER topped 60? That's not his game. I wouldn't want him shooting that much, to be honest. Unless 40 of the 60 points are from free throws, he'd be shooting too much.
He is at his best when he spreads the ball around, plays high intensity defense and fewer minutes. Just scoring isn't maximizing his skill set. Not that he'll never just have one of those games where he catches fire and scores 60. I'm sure one day he will. But he should never aim for that, and I don't think he will.

Check and double check,...
I'd rather have 20 a night and see every one else get 12-15,...
He's already the highest scoring player "AT AGE" and "TIME" in the league.

56 is LeBron's high against Toronto about 3 years ago.
I'm hoping for stat sheet stuffer tonight...27 points, 12 boards, 10 assists, 3 steals, 1 block.

I'd love to see a quadruple double out of Lebron tonight. He's never had double digit steals or blocks in his career. More than that, I'd love to see a total blowout tonight. Everyone's crowing about Kobe's 61 and the new record for points scored in MSG and all that, but they still won by just 9 points, and gave up 117 to the Knicks. I want to see a real display of domination, ie holding them to under 70 points and getting at least 90 ourselves.

J/C...
Regarding this evening's contest... Sasha and Renzen did not make the trip with the team last nite after the game due to their flu bug.. Wally played 44 minutes last nite and is prolly gonna go another 40+ tonite...
All about controlling the pace this evening.. We all know NY is gonna wanna run and gun.. We have the tired legs from the back to back, so no need to get into a jump shooting war tonite.. I hope we go down low to Z early and often....

I love ESPN. I went to their website to check the halftime stats, and the leading story on their NBA page is about Lebron leaving to go to NY. I thought that garbage had died, but I guess not.

Wally really showed up tonight, especially after playing forty plus last night. 11 boards is from hustle.
Lebron is so young. His biggest weakness remains his vulnerability to mind games. He is getting drawn into a shooting war. Lucky his been hitting a good portion of them, because he's shooting way too much from outside. This game shouldnt' be this close.

No way Lebron should put up 7 three pointers. Can someone tell him he's not a three point shooter? He's shooting 55% from two, 29% from three. Do the math.

i didn't like that lebron got caught up in the whole kobe/61 thing
yeah, it's a record, and yeah it's msg, but seriously, who cares?
stick to what's been working through 3+ months, team basketball.
that game should have been over by the third quarter.
kobe didn't drop 61 because he wanted the record, he did it because he saw that his team lost a key player, and he knew he'd have to step up (and also because they aren't much of a physical, defensive team)
you think boston is going to come in there friday and care about records?
no, they're just going to pummel the hell out of the knicks.

it's been fun, like i said before, i just have that feeling about this team, i've had it since we acquired mo in the summer...
same feeling i had with the tribe in the 90's, i feel like they are going to win every single night.
and not much has been mentioned. this team ALWAYS starts out really good... yeah they let big leads dwindle, but when you win the first quarter, you are going to end up like the cavs are now, with a boatload of W's...

LOL.
Hey, I'm not saying he's not great. He's an amazing player. Just pointing out that if he wants to score more points, he should take less three pointers and more two pointers. He got 6 points out of 7 three point shots. If he took 7 two point shots instead, it'd translate to 8 points. If he had driven and missed but got fouled seven times, it'd translate to 11 points.
I know it's not that black and white, because a lot depends on what shot is open, spacing, defense, etc etc. But you know, just sayin. He's not a good three point shooter. Why play to your weakness?
Many times when he shoots a three, it's because of two things.
1. The other team just made a three, and he tries to match them and steal momentum. 2 out of 3 times, it backfires, and they get the ball back without him scoring a point.
2. He's tired. He's been beaten up and he loses that edge he has that results in so many sharp passes for assists and powerful drives to the hoop. So he just falls back and shoots. That's a sign for Mike Brown to give him some rest, or at least call time and get his focus back.
I'm not one of these guys who just wants to criticize him. I think he's amazing. He's mature for his age, extremely talented, and physically overwhelming. I'm just a perfectionist. Which, if he truly wants to go down as the best player of all time, he needs to be as well. He's improved every year in the league, so he may well acheive that.

I was cruising the Cavs site and they have a link where people e-mailed in questions for Delonte West... This is my favorite. Quote:
Comments: My name is Delonte also, they say it's a very country name and I've been getting teased about it. What do you think I should do? First Name: Delonte City: Cleveland State: Ohio
Delonte:I got teased as a kid, also. But be proud of who you are; be proud of your name. Most of the people who make jokes about others, are normally unhappy with themselves. So you have to find the humor in that. And if all else fails, punch them in the back of the head.

And this is the link if anybody would like the see the rest.. it's not real revealing stuff...

Delonte rocks. He's been my favorite player since he got here, especially since he admitted he suffers from depression. It's brave to admit that he needed help and I applaud him for it.

lebron does take 2 many 3's... and i think it partly cost us the game in orlando last week. 10 point lead and he's chucking...
when he's hot, you gotta let him shoot, because nobody gets in his face, guys will always back off and give him that shot. you are at the mercy of him when he's hitting those
but it seems like if he's not, he's trying to get himself hot...
the one thing is, when late april, may, and hopefully june rolls around, he's smart enough to know that's not how it's done, i just hope stuff like that doesn't cost us a few games that could mean the difference in homecourt between us and boston...
hard to rip a guy when he does so much though...
he's playing at both ends, he still makes great plays getting to the hoop, the free throw line, setting up his teammates, it's just the one thing that really drives you nuts...

Yep ... we've been saying it for awhile though. I get the feeling he KNOWS he can dominate inside, so he's almost taking shooting practice just to get better at it, and save his body for when it really matters. Can't say he did all that bad tonight. Most points in a triple double since the ABA/NBA merger? I'll take that. They have a poll on ESPN ... who's MSG performance was more impressive ... Kobe's 61-3-0 or Lebron's 52-11-10 .... Lebron's winning 82% to 18%.

Didn't know about the depression... But I LOVE Delonte's game overall. I think we're a much better team when he's on the floor. I don't know what the +/- is with him in the game, but I'm sure it's in the +. Seems like a smart player that keeps it under control. Good perimeter defender as well. Can't wait to get him back.

In the pre-season there was talk about Delonte retiring because of his depression and not really wanting to play anymore. He overcame it and found his love for the game again.
There were a bunch of articles about it before the season started. IIRC that is why he did not play in the first few pre-season games.

Here is one article from October... http://www.blackvoices.com/blogs/2008/10...t-to-quit-team/Cavs' Delonte West's Depression Made Him Want to Quit Team Posted Oct 21st 2008 7:00AM by Quibian Salazar-Moreno Filed under: Casually Obsessed, Sports It's a rare occasion when a professional athlete admits to bouts with depression, but Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West stood firm and went to get help with his illness. During training camp, West felt like quitting the team and the NBA life before leaving on October 4 to get treatment. In an interview with the Associated Press, West admits that depression has been a problem his entire life. "I felt a feeling of anger and I just wanted to throw it all away and quit the team, I needed help," West said. "In a sense, you feel like a weaker man because you have to raise your hand and ask for help. But I found out over the last week that it made me a stronger person. I came back focused, and with the help of some medicine and talking with people on a regular basis, I'm back in good spirits. I'm back here 100 percent." West's breaking point came during an October 3 scrimmage at the Cavs' training facility where he unloaded on a high school referee. At that point he realized that he needed to get some help. West is currently on medication and is attending therapy sessions. He returned to the team in October 15 and played 28 minutes in Cleveland's game against San Antonio last week. West also said that he has mood swings that have affected relationships off the court, dating all the way back to his childhood. But the Cavs organization and LeBron James have his back and have been supportive throughout. "This is the epitome of a family organization," he said of his team. "I want to go for war for these people. I would die for them, I really mean that."

Wow, I can't believe some people didn't notice it. Anyways, here's one of the many articles about it: Cavs' Delonte West helps himself seeking treatment for depression Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West says he is better for surrendering to his battle for depression and getting help. West, who said he considered quitting basketball due to his life long battle with the disease, instead took a few weeks off to get treatment. "In a sense, you feel like a weaker man because you have to raise your hand and ask for help," West said. "But I found out over the last week that it made me a stronger person. I came back focused, and with the help of some medicine and talking with people on a regular basis, I'm back in good spirits. I'm back here 100 percent." He added that being on the court has become joyful again. "Being on the court felt like being on the playground as a child again," he said about playing last week. "I had the time of my life." West appreciates that the team and his teammates stood by him. "This is the epitome of a family organization," he said. "I want to go for war for these people. I would die for them, I really mean that." Although millions suffer from depression, West is aware of the stigma that can be attached to the disease and he's at peace with that. "Only God is my judge," he said. "All that matters is how I feel about myself." Link

Bron directly involved in 72 points...And that's if all his assists were only 2 pointers...Tack on 11 Boards and that's a dominating effort...
BTW...Props to Zerb's...2 games in a row over 40 minutes...Drops another 12 with 13 boards...In back to backs...He's HOT right now...Color me impressed...
Now all Bron needs to do is take it to Bryant Sunday...

I agree.. and those are just the stats... Lebron also made several excellent defensive plays during the game. He's doing it at both ends of the court.
BTW - Wally's been shooting great, but his defensive liabilities are still there. He plays real hard but he's just too slow to keep up.
