He is getting abused by the speed of the NFC DEs. Just like during the year, he is struggling with speed.

I caught the first drive at halftime of the Cavs game and he held his own without any help.
That was about all I could take, before I had to change the channel though. I started getting drowsy.

Sidenote -
One of the reasons I don't believe in drafting o-line so early...
IMO, O-line is just like the WR position. There are so many guys that come out of college at that position, SOMEONE has to be able to step in and play well. It's called good scouting. For whatever reason.. No one wants to give a guy on o-line in the later rounds a chance.
It is not necessary to draft o-line high to do well... Even the best get beat.

Yeah, did you see DA in last years Pro Bowl?
Can you say carry over?
Sure, it's "only the Pro Bowl," but I think DA's performance last year in it was telling.

Yeah, it's not geared up like a normal game.
But you can still pick things out from it. I only watched Joe maybe a handful of plays. The first play I saw the DE blow right past him. I'm not gonna say the dude sucks. He is a great tackle. But I think you can still see things in the game. Like I said, DA sucked big time last year. BIG TIME.
The guy didn't exactly tear it up the following season. You were able to see his problems in that game.

Right on nobody wants to get injured in a meaningless game.
Let me guess though, somewhere along the line the announcers tried to tell the viewers the players do care about the outcome because the winner brings home 10 more grand?

How is that working out for the Ravens? Defense don't mean jack if you can't put points on the board.

They put points on the board. Just not enough.
The Steelers won the Superbowl. The #1 ranked defense with a decent offense.

Team with the #2 defense lost to the team with the #1 defense. I fail to see your counter-point.

My point is exactly what I stated in my previous post. The best defense won't do much if you can't put points on the board.

Just how did he get abused? He was letting the DE take the outside rush, and pushed him behind the QB, giving the QB a pocket and time to throw. Just how is that getting abused?

I've come to the conclusion that anything less than a pancake, and the Oline guy is getting abused in some folks eyes

Ah, that was what the football highlights on the TV at the gym were this morning.

Maybe I shouldnt comment since I watched about 20 minutes of this worthless game, but Thomas was not abused.....Maybe we were watching diffrent pro bowls.

They went to the AFC championship game with an unheralded rookie QB out of Delaware... We won 4 games with a former pro-bowl QB and a highly touted QB out of Notre Dame..... I'd say it's working out pretty well for them..

Yeah, that's what I saw. I only watched the game on and off but, that is accurate from what I watched. I only saw him look bad on one play.
I just had to see a couple of orange helmets play a little yesterday.

I didn't say that I didn't like Joe Thomas, I was making a point. He got beat around the end darn near every time on the speed rush. You say that he was creatinga pocket, and that's what he was doing most the time. However, he did get beat around the end by Jared Allen for a sack, fumble, and subsequent touchdown for the NFC. The facts are the facts, he is a great Left Tackle, but he needs to work on his footwork on the outside speedrush.
I really do like him. He is only entering his 3rd year. So he has a chance to be one of the all time great Browns lineman, and I think he can. We all have things we need to improve on.

You do realize your breaking down the play of a guy who played in a meaningless game, a game that doesn't even matter except for extra paychecks. Do you really think JT cared about his footwork in this game? Did you realize this game is played under different rules then regular season games, limiting the players? Breaking down someone's play in a Pro Bowl game is useless and is NOT relevent as to their actual play. It's the Pro Bowl, a game not many in their right mind care about.

I agree with you about 98% of the time. The other 2%? Guys looking to be FA's. Those guys are being looked at under a microscope and they know it. So on their part, especialy if they played questionable the last few weeks of the season, it's their chance to shine. Other than that, they're looking to have fun and get out of there injury free. Besides, most of us who know squat about JT knows he plays on technique, Which let's guys have the outside and you just keep them pushed back out of the pocket/play. Many of us, me included, consider it a strong suit. In short? It's gonna be a LOOONNGGG off season if this is the kinda crap we'll be reading. ( And I'd say it will be.... )
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
