We bought it, my dad claimed it bothered his allergies, then made us take it back.
That's rather odd given that true, pure breed Bichons are hypoallergenic,.,,, wierd.
Yeah, I just think he didn't want it.
I think taking a dump in the living room may have had something to do with it....

We'll know later, but it appears that there might be a little setback.. when you have this surgery, there is always some drainage involved. She should have stopped that by now and but there is still some. I guess we'll see later tonight or tomorrow.
What kind of drainage and how much?

DP,, I don't know. it's not blood,, it has a tinge of red in it, but mostly yellow.
no tempeture...BP is good... Decent mobility for a person less than a week from this surgery... and the pain she has is mostly centered right around where they cut her open which I would assume to be fairly normal.....

Yeah, the pain is normal if it's centered in that area. If the area isn't red and/or swollen and the drainage is as described, then I wouldn't worry too much. She isn't running a fever like you said, so it's probably nothing.
That's serosanguinous drainage, which is usually a clear to yellow tinge fluid coming from our body with a little bit of blood mixed in. If it becomes thick, changes color, and the incision becomes red, warm/hot or swollen, then there could be an issue.
Some people get a little bit of a hematoma or fluid collection which main drain out. No big deal. If it's a large collection that is seeping a lot or noticeable because it's swollen, then they may drain it. But if it's as you described, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Well, then we now have another set of circumstances.. Now she is running a slight fever 99.5...
The area around her incision is slightly swollen, again, we took that as just normal,, it's warm to the touch.. warmer than any other part of her body but not crazy hot. the seepage is as described....

Well a little swelling and warmth is part of it. A lot of swelling, redness and warmth isn't.
I should just keep my mouth shut! I'm going to end up making you worry. And slight temperatures are normal as well, as it's part of your bodies inflammatory process. As long as she's not spiking anything too high.
A lot of post operative fevers actually come from your lungs. Not breathing deep and laying around can cause some fluid build up in the bottom of your lung bases. Make sure she's doing her coughing and deep breathing! She should have received an incentive spirometer- that little breathing toy they hand out afterwards. Make sure she uses it to help her breathe deep and keep her lungs clear.

She did get one of those,, she used it in the hospital but I haven't seen her use it in Rehab.. not sure she even brought it with her...
I'm not overly concerned. They are going to call the doctor about now and they are saying he'll probably suggest tylenol to reduce temp and change the bandages.. Then see what it's like in the morning.

In the continuing saga,, the wife has to see the Doc today... he doesn't like the sound of what the nurse described on the phone last night... so I"m off to take her in a while here.

LOL I was just over at the Rehab place where she is staying.. she got up with her walker and just started walking all over the place,, I just followed her around for about 15 minutes.. it was great. I think what happened to her is that she saw the doc,, he said all is progressing and suddenly, she feels better about it and seems to be happier and moving better.. amazing really. let's hope it keeps up that way. And she'll never know I used that "old" word!

She sounds like a pretty tough gal, and if you keep up with the positive but no overly exaggerated positivity were she thinks your being fake (which I DO NOT, repeat DO NOT) think that is your makeup at all, you come across as a man who truly respects and loves his wife and guess tou have been married for a long time and that will stay that way till one of you pass on. I respect couples such as yourself and others on this board who have been married for numerous years and love each day they spend with their loved one. I just had my 16th wedding anniversary and in this world that in itself is an accomplishment, but if your like me and you probably are, this is hurting you mentally watching your beloved go through this ordeal because you know she is in pain, so with that I not only wish your wife well in her recovery and therapy, I wish you well also and keep your chin up and keep your positive and inspirational attitude. I know she means probably everything to you, mine does and know how it feels in your situation, so keep up the awesome work I am sure you are doing!

I probably take a lot of this with a grain of salt because I see this everyday, where your not used to seeing your wife like this.
Like I said, she'll be up and moving before you know it, and be right back at home in her own bed soon. I'm glad to hear she had a good day today and started walking all over the place. The pain of surgery, the effects of anesthesia and pain meds, and the stiffness associated with laying around slow them down at first, but as the body heals, your wife will be back to a better "normal" soon enough.

Good to hear Da Man....By the way has therapy started working with her on crutch's yet? Sounds like she's moving around good with the walker...I refused the walker when i had mine done..I have been on and off crutch's for 25 yrs so i felt much more comfortable on crutch's than the walker...And where i was rehabbing was very familar with me as i had most of the therapist at one time or another....She is going to progress quickly now....Just don't let her get ahead of herself but also don't hold her back....By the way my wife and i will be married 28 yrs in Aug.

Glad to hear everything is okay. Had a little scare there. We'll keep the good thoughts and prayers coming. Positive attitude is powerful medicine and it sounds like your wife has that of plenty.
