Race season is almost upon us. This year my brother is loading up the RV and leaving C-burg for the infield at Daytona. We're gonna take the week off and stay there with him for the whole week ( i live an hour and a half away). Anyone else making the trip?? If so, I'd love to meet a fellow DawgTalker ! Jeff Burton's year !!!!!!!!!

I have never been to Daytona, but have been to Michigan,Darlington,Virginia, and Vegas. Darlington by far is my favorite track to see a race! You can keep Michigan! been there twice and you cant see the race good enough for me.

Yeah I used to go to Michigan 2 times a year every year and got tired of it after awhile.I still like to tell the story though of the time me and my father were leaving the race going towards the back lots and we had to walk across the lanes of traffic coming from the infield , going out to the main road. This car was coming but would have had to stop 5 feet past us for backed up traffic anyways so we starting crossing thinking they would stop. Well they get closer and closer going and fast to the point we had to jump and they hit their brakes real hard and stop 6 inches from our legs. I glare into the car thinking of some choice words for the driver and sitting their in the drivers seat with a [censored] eating grin is Dale Earnhardt Jr. I cant remember the exact year but it was one of if not his first full time years in Winston Cup.
I was also at Michigan for Tiregate with my wife who was a Jeff Gordon lover at the time and I am a Jeff Burton fan and at the time a Roush Racing fan. Was a interesting ride home that day. Well actually the walk to the car and the first five minutes was and then my wife wouldnt speak to me for the whole 3 hour ride home
My favorite track to see a race is Charlotte. Just cant beat the atmosphere being in the heartland of stock car racing.

MIS is not the worst track for sure. Trust me Clay go camp at Charlotte one time for a few days before the spring race. You wont see Michigan in the same light ever again. You can even take a drive over to Lake Norman(the redneck riviera) and see a lot of the drivers mansions(I saw Rusty Wallaces adn Jeff Gordons last time I was there)

Does anybody have any idea if Hooper or anyone else is going to start our annual DTI NASCAR Fantasy league this year? Seems like we have usually heard something by now?

HA! Jr. wants that trophy in a BAD way. He'd LOVE to touch Jeff's trophies! Actually, while I am and always will be a Jeff Gordon fan, I am not faithful to him in my fandom. Frankly, I'd rather see a see a GREAT race with a driver that I don't care for winning than for, say, Jeff just kicking everyone's ass start to finish. Just love to watch the race and figure out strategies etc.

I'm pretty much the same way. I want to see Jr. win, don't get me wrong. But I have other drivers that I like.
People who don't understand racing say,"It's just guys driving in circles".
But then again, people who don't understand football say,"It's just a bunch of guys fighting over a damned ball".
Those who grasp the team concept, development, aerodynamics and pit strategy can appreciate the sport. Those who don't take the time to learn about it,criticize it.

Exactly! I USED to be one of the folks that said "who wants to watch guys driving ina circle"
The hubby helped me lean ALOT about racing. I love the road circuits more now than I ever did and all that/
