Lol, you know...this is kinda funny

It really didn´t take Napoleon long to disrespect somebody out of here...I hope he has plan B, C and D as Savage used to have

"Missing" him twice, huh? ROFL He "missed" him in the training room for crying out loud....great idea to hire a sociopath as your HC...what´s so fking difficult to shake your best player´s hand and say "Hi"....and if the report is accurate, he flat out lied in his presser...great start

I had that sick Butcher-gut-feeling when we hired him...please not...say it ain´t so

Wow, this caught me off guard.

Hopefully its not true. And if true, I hope amends can be made.

He's out best player out there on D. A beast. Getting a LB in the draft will make the pick that much better with Shaun in the middle.

Why on earth would Rodgers want the Browns to release him? umm seeing Haynesworth ready to rack in between 100-120 mil is a pretty good reason lol.

I dont like the Mangini hire, I think he is a pompous ass. I know takes one to know one :P anyway who cares if Mangini talks to Rodgers or not? This team needs a foot to ass method of motivation not the hand holding they have received the last 4 years.

You guys think Browns players are upset now just wait till this weekend lol Better yet wait till training camp when Mangini lines these guys up and they actually get to knock the snot out of one another. Romeo's girl scout camp days are over and whether Mangini lasts or not he is right now what this team needs.

Rodgers you are under contract and that is the end of that.

The people who hate Mangini will say this is his fault. The people who hate Rogers will say this is his fault.

I mean, is anyone surprised that Django feels this is entirely Mangini's fault without any kind of consequence to Rogers? I know I'm not.

I'll say this, why is that NOW Rogers is coming out with this? Did Mangini's supposed *snubs* just happen?

And I will say that if he is truly upset that Mangini didn't talk to him on those two occasions, and that's why he wants out, that's just plain lame to me. Hell, it's lame to me if he wants out because he wants a bigger contract.

I'm not giving up on Rogers, not at all. But if he's that big of a baby, I'd say sayonara without hesitation.

Oh, and where in the article does it say that Rogers approached Mangini, HIS BOSS, and Mangini still didn't talk to him?

Definitely.

But isn't this how things usually work for us? Just when we think we're secure at a coveted position something happens to screw it up.

Some of Rogers' feelings stem back to two offseason incidents in which he believes Mangini disrespected him.

I guess he thinks he and Mangini are in rival gangs.

Well Mr. Mangini...the X's and O's are nothing compared to dealing with the egos of the people.

at a public charity function in which both men were in the green room, neither said hello to the other, and Mangini later said he didn't know Rogers was there.

Ooh great, now we have a coach who can't find a Nosetackle! Don't let that guy draft a single lineman!

Rodgers needs to be fed. Make him important, make him the cog on that line or he will lose interest.

Mangini won't show any favorites....

I really question if he is being himself, or is just trying to be respected by putting up a front by acting like coaches like two BelichicK and Parcells.

Regardless... He's not going to change.

Regardless... Neither said anything to each other... So who is really to blame?

That's kind of my thought too, Turk. I mean, why hasn't Rogers approached Mangini? Why is it Mangini's responsibility? Yeah, you'd like a new boss to talk to the guys, but he sure as hell doesn't have to. Frankly, I'd want the guy to concentrate on getting things organized in his office and get the organization turned around before he comes and kisses my ass.

We both don´t know the whole story....yet I have Lombardi, King and now a freaking Adam Schefter nfl.com report to back it up

If he wanted more money after a PB season, he could have said so...he wants OUT...money IS a reason for sure but it would not look like this if he was happy here...I realy think that´s 1 good thing RAC´s style does and did in Roger´s case: he was a human being and not a robot and I really thought Rogers was 1 of the guys who played for RAC´s butt in every game...I´m not wishing Crennel back, I´m just saying that a 180 twist WAS NOT what this team needed, it was what the fans wanted to see....and it was only a matter of time it would lead to problems...Mr.Lerner, you know what they say: If you start listening to your fans, you might end up sitting next to them....oh, I forgot, nobody can fire you....too bad

Yeah, Rogers IS a cry baby but part of a manager´s job is...well...to MANAGE different personality types and make them FIT a team...Mangini didn´t have to shake his balls, a simple handshake and welcome could have done the job to maybe at least keep this 1 in house

Good that Savage drafted Rubin last year, we will need him now...and I think he can develop into a decent NT...the irony of it: it will give Mangini more time

LOL, it didn't take long for you to start spouting with glee on a report that is nothing more than BS, did it? The simple fact is that Mangini is the only one that knows if he saw Rogers or not. I posted on here before the reports came out that Gini said he was hurrying to talk to someone else and didn't see Rogers. He said the same thing in the presser. You are hoping so much for him to fail that you swallow any line of garbage that can be twisted into a negative. You can crow that you have a coujple of reporters claiming something they don't POSSIBLY know aobut....the intent and thoughts of Mangini at the time. I have MANGINI'S statements to back me up. I'll take the word of the man who was actualy HAVING the thoughts over someone trying to sell a report by INTERPRETING his thoughts. Then again, I don't have a pathetic agenda.

So why is Rogers making such a big stink, Coach?

Is he really disrespected by Mangini or is it another player who wants more money?

Either way, it doesn't matter, he should still be in Brown and Orange next year.

If I had to guess, as I don't know Rogers, I would say it is about the cash. It could be a maturity issue and he felt disrespected, as we saw with him in Detroit, he takes his ball and goes home and pouts. Either way, it's ridiculous to blame Mangini for hurrying across the room and not taking the time to look at every person he passed.

Please provide a link saying that Mangini ignored Rogers. Since I'm so "naive", correct me with a link where someone talked to Mangini stating that he did so. Until then, you're just spouting because you are desperate to see Mangini fail because your choice didn't get hired as head coach. Yeah, I'm "naive" about the situation.....I heard what happened from people within the organization and you are ASSUMING what happened and interpreting it to fit your sad agenda. If you don't have a link, and we all know you don't, then stop being "naive" and admit you are doing nothing more the GUESSING. You won't, because it's really improtant to you to try to be right and won't let facts stand in the way of your agenda.

Michelle, some people want Mangini to fail so bad that they will not only not use common sense, but be blatantly ridiculous to further their own desire to be right. It's sad that people claim to be "fans" of a team and root so fervantly for a team to fail so they can spout they were right on a message board.

Whatever Mangini truthfully said, did, or intended is only half of this equation. The other half is Rogers, and obviously, he has done something to warrant this negative press.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to hear he wants out. With the regime change, and the lack of identity on this team; it would be pretty easy to see Rogers wanting to get out.

Especially given the polar nature of RAC and Gini's coaching styles.

Whether this is accurate reporting---we will find out soon enough. But Gini's perspective isn't the only one to consider.

Oh, I see....you´ve already reverted to your famous "you´re not a fan"-argument....is it that late already Coach?

You need a link huh? What about a DNA scan of both? or a video tape? Jesus Coach, you´re like the guy who´s standing in the middle of the street closing his eyes and repeating "it won´t hit me" with a truck approaching

I don´t want Mangini to fail...I just think he isn´t a good HC...he IS a good football mind, so was Butcher (or Saban, Petrino etc)....but that´s not the only part of a HEAD coaches job...we didn´t need Mangini to offset RAC´s deficits....we needed a HC with Mangini´s brains and football smarts AND Crennel´s heart and humanity AND a 3rd ingredient both of them seem to lack: motivational skills (think Cowher)...in my book you have a good chance of being a decent or better HC if you have 2 of those 3...Mangini just has 1, just as Crennel....he´s the anti-Crennel you all wished for...now eat it and the problems it creates

LOL, in other words, you proved me right. You have nothing but SPECULATION and warped interpretation to back up your statements. LOL, that's pretty sad.

He doesn't motivate people? Hmmmm, tell that to all the Jets players that came out in his defense after he was fired after a WINNING SEASON...you know his 2nd winning season in 3 years. Yeah, only a terrible coach could perform like that.

Hey, tell Coles how terible he is at motivating players when Coles was disgruntled by decisions. Of course, Mangini won Coles over and Coles performed well and had good things to say about Gini. Yep, that's a terrible coach right there.

It's pretty sad that you have been so transparent with your agenda and when asked to prove your statements, you just bluster about how someone else is "naive".

You were a bit off about me and traffic, too. I don't do what you claimed (what else is new, no one else does either ). Of course, I don't stand in a deserted parking lot and have a car pass the parking lot and claim it tried to run me over when it didn't come withint 1/4 mile of me either.

When did Roger Brown change his name to Adam Word is Rogers is not happy

GMAFB When we hear the words from Rogers mouth, or even from somebody IN the Browns organization then we can all start running around like chickens with our heads cut off and bashing Rogers or Eric. Right now this nothing more than a sports writer trying to draw people's interest during a dead time in the NFL.

Not sure if your referring to anyone specific, but to my defense, I simply said in worst case scenario, if Rogers DOESN"T want to play here and we HAVE to get rid of him....then absolutely we trade him...no way do we just release him and get nothing in return.....I understand the salary cap implications that comes with this.......and I also want Mangini to exhaust every option possible to try and keep him.....I was just looking on the other side of the fence....kinda lika a "what if" approach.......ya know.....believe me, I know we need this guy...you think our defense ws bad with Rogers....just think how bad it will be without him..... ....

Off season boardoom,

But if Rodgers wants to leave than let him leave, but he also must agree to leaving all the money behind. Common he's the one breaking the contract he shouldnt get a dime. I'm so sick & tired of spoiled whinny players, not saying Rodgers is I dont know the truth, but in general, I've heard way to much, football isnt played bye men any more it's played by spoiled pampered wanna be's or atleast 95% of them are

So what if SR is not happy?
I'll speculate and say he's ticked because of the sorry season the Browns had and the putrid D ...
Maybe he felt Mang should have spoke to him..
Fact is he's under contract...play until they tell you you're no longer wanted.

Personally, I lay all the blame to the POS Head Coach we hired. He is the one with the Ego problem, not Rogers. I am no fan of this head coach and not only that, I'm sick of this losing franchise.

I haven't missed a Browns game since I really started watching football at age 8. I'm 33 now. Screw this damn franchise, it blows.....

Ok, I believe it's time for the Browns to realize the reason Mangini was let go.

Why in the hell is Mangini not reaching out to the players on his team, that are going to be the backbone of the team going forward.

I believe Mangini has some serious issues concerning his communication skills. IMO, Mangini comes across as an Ahole and he does not seem to want to change that image he projects.

Mangini is "disrespecting" his players, by ignoring them and pretending not to see them when in public. He has been on the job for two months and still has not spoken to some of our team leaders. That is not "normal" folks!

Mangini needs to address his personal short comings and lose the A-hole image....the sooner, the better...fix it, Mangini !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time for Lerner to send his new HC to "someone" to fix the "attitude" problem. I'm serious, time to be honest about the reason Mangini was canned..it was not because of his coaching ability, but who he is as a person and how he relates to others and how he treats others...it does matter!

It had to be said, and best said by a team leader such as Rogers....jmho...mac

theres room on the steelers bandwagon if you want to go!!!

this team is about to turn it around but if you dont want to wait it out then grab rodgers hand and the two of you can walk off into the sunset together.

Of course he could...but I´d say the norm is the NEW guy in the building introduces himself and can´t ask for feet lickers from the get go, esp. NOT your only ProBowl talent on D who is know to need some coddling and having EGO problems...your job is to MANGE egos, not to be the uber-ego in the building....the league is already calling them "ManKok" for crying out loud....they are officially making fun of us again, great

The biggest problem I suspect is that Rogers may feel slapped by the PC remarks of Mangini....when they walked by each other and WERE in the same training room I´m pretty sure they knew the other was there AT LEAST once, if so Mangini lied in his presser to make him look nice...

it´s like when you meet a guy u know back from school in the bus after years and you don´t feel like small talking but when you both inevitably meet leaving it´s like "hey, I haven´t seen you"...it´s BS and both know it and both have no problems because both didn´t WANT to meet...well, looks like with Mangini-Rogers it WAS a problem for 1 of them and lying in the presser (if reports are true..and hey McFlys: it´s Adam Schefter...if he is reporting it, the whole NFL already knows about it and it´s pretty much 100%) WASN´T ok with Mr.Rogers...he may felt like "how dumb does he think I am...I know he saw me"

this situation is concerning. this is why detroit cut their losses. I still hope their loss is the browns gain. He was a beast last year, but he was also happy. If he gets unhappy, he gets unmotivated and becomes a liability to the defense- i don't know how you fix that. No way he gets cut, that would be a salary cap nightmare.

Hey, mac, could you supply a link that backs up your statements? The only former player to say ANYTHING negative was Favre and he even changed his tune and said it was a "pleasure" working with Mangini. Also, can you show us a link that says Mangini "ignored" or "pretended not to see them"? I would appreciate it as this is all breaking news you've posted.

Here's another article by Mary Kay. My goodness it is fun to be Browns fan . . .

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2009/02/browns_tackle_shaun_rogers_rep.html

Browns tackle Shaun Rogers reportedly wants off team, upset with new coach Eric Mangini
by Mary Kay Cabot / Plain Dealer Reporter Wednesday
February 25, 2009, 3:07 AM

Browns Pro Bowl defensive tackle Shaun Rogers is so disgruntled with new coach Eric Mangini and the new regime that he's asked the team not to pay his guaranteed $6 million option bonus next month, nfl.com's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday night.

Schefter, according to a source close to Rogers, said the tackle would rather be released after only one season even though he's owed $15 million in guaranteed money. However, he hasn't asked yet to be released, the Browns told nfl.com.

Rogers is reportedly miffed about two off-season incidents in which he feels Mangini snubbed him. The first time, Mangini walked into the Browns' training room and didn't say hello to Rogers, the source said. The second time, Mangini and Rogers were together in the media room at the Greater Cleveland Sports Awards on Jan. 23 and neither acknowledged the other.

Mangini said at a news conference Feb. 4: "I didn't even realize Shaun was there at the time. I know that's probably hard to believe considering how big he is and how big I am. It's like two destroyers missing each other."

Mangini recently reached out to Rogers, according to the report. And a source within the Browns organization told Schefter that Mangini is still optimistic he can sway Rogers once they speak. But sources close to Rogers say he won't change his mind.

The report says some believe there are other reasons why Rogers wants to leave the Browns, but didn't specify.

Acquired in a trade with the Detroit Lions last off-season for cornerback Leigh Bodden and a third-round pick, Rogers signed a six-year, $42 million deal that extended his contract by three years through 2013. It included $20 million in guarantees and a total of $23 million over the first three years.

Rogers' season, which included 76 tackles, 4.5 sacks and a team-high 15 pressures, earned him his third Pro Bowl and it appeared his career had been rejuvenated after leaving Detroit.

The Browns would take a $9.7 million salary-cap hit if they cut Rogers, according to the report, but they have no intentions of releasing him.

Mangini might have already known trouble was brewing during his Feb. 4 news conference. He wished Rogers well for the Pro Bowl the following weekend and said Rogers would have a chance there to talk to New York Jets Pro Bowl tackle Kris Jenkins, a big Mangini supporter.

"Shaun will be able to ask Kris some questions about me," Mangini said. "Kris and I had a great relationship and I think that'll be good."

It wouldn't be the first time Mangini has had to win over a star player. When he took over as Jets coach in 2006, he had to change the mind-set of receiver Laveranues Coles. Last off-season, he flew to Coles' home in Jacksonville to smooth over a contract squabble.

If things can't be resolved, the Browns will lose their best player on defense and only the second defensive player to make the Pro Bowl since 1995. Linebacker Jamir Miller earned the nod after the 2001 season. A league source said Rogers is the only Browns defensive player good enough to start for the Steelers or Ravens.

Ahem..the losing record and discord on the team perhaps???
I've never really heard of a player wanting to be released because the coach "played him off" at a function...and anyone buying that really has drunk too much Boon's Farm..for those of you who don't know what that was, it was the equivilant of having Kool-Aid spiked with winecoolers that you could buy at your local grocery store when I was a kid..

bigo...You fix it by realizing what I pointed out above...Mangini has issues concerning his communication skills.

Again, Mangini was not let go because he was a horrible coach...it was his Ahole attitude toward others.

I see this as a good thing, Rogers speaking out. How best to approach the problems than addressing them early, before the rest of the team gets infected by Rogers attitude.

The best way to fix this is help Mangini overcome his issues and meet his players halfway.

Like I said, two months on the job and Mangini has not spoken to some of the team leaders?...That is not normal, IMO...but it can be addressed (corrected) with help from professionals.
