Chris Canty DE signed with the Giants.

I was listening to NFLRadio on Sirius today and heard that NY wasn't going to let Canty leave without a contract. In the same segment, it was mentioned that if NYG signs Canty, a possible trade on the table would be to send M.Kiawanku and a draft pick to Cleveland for Edwards. I believe the draft pick was a 3rd, but I don't remember right now. Just knowing this, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in NYG now that they have so many linemen on their roster. Someone will be leaving, I'm sure.

Hadn't heard that. Wow this could be a very interesting off-season after all.

Let's say we do trade Edwards to the Giants for Kiawanuka and a draft pick. What does that do for our draft? Does that mean we take Crabtree at #5 if he is available?

I WOULD LOVE AND REPEAT LOVE HEYWARD-BAY..

i'm pretty sure from what they say he could be there in the 2nd round at 37th overall
4.26........40 time.... i think he would be a better choice so we can either grab curry or if he goes to k.c. then we can either trade down.. to get REY REY or just get our defensive stud at the 5th..

Forget the draft pick....I´d do this trade 1for1....Kiwanuka would be a stud as a rush OLB in a 34....absolute stud. I´d be even willing to GIVE the Giants a 4th on top of BE in order to get Kiwanuka...

If we get this done, I´ll ease my criticism on the new regime and might start believing a bit

Only way we do this is if we sign Laverneus Coles or some other player to fill that void.

We lose too much offensive firepower with Edwards gone to NOT add a respectable player in the process.

Pass rush is WAY more important than an inconsistent #1 WR who isn´t clutch (remember who made all those 3rd down grabs in 2007? Kellen and Joe)...you built inside out...pass rushers are so rare, you gotta take that deal if it´s out there...sign some stop gaps vet WR...there are some out there (Coles, Patten, trade for Holt)

I know you're right, but it seem so tainted after that pass he dropped against the Ravens.

I know it's wrong and that I shouldn't hold one play against him, but man does that play run over and over in my mind when I think about trading him.

Holy crap...We agree?!

I'd do this deal in an instant. It fills a great void for the Browns on defense, and we could focus on getting some inside linebackers, a safety and a couple linemen in the draft.

It does with most. It's emotion. Which I believe is the main problem with everyone wanting to see Edwards gone. I get it, but I don't at the same time. I just don't think people realize how good he can be and how much of a blow it will be to lose him.

LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

'

On the other hand, Edwards doesn't run crisp routes and will probably never be a consistent pass catcher. Not to mention that he can be a big time cancer if you are not winning.

At this point, if we could get that in return for Braylon, then we need to do it.

Add to that we lose him at the end of the season for no compensation, and it's a no brainer if that trade rumor were true.

That as well. He's stated that he thinks the fans don't treat him well.

I think if he rejects a contract extension, then you have to trade him.

I would only trade Braylon for a high 2nd round pick at the least....

To trade him, we must replace him....

Would use to two of the three 2nd round picks on Heyward Bey, and Robiskie...

Bey? Absolutely, but he probably wouldn't be there.

Robo? Nah, he's going to be a slot WR in the NFL.

Personally, I like Hakeem Nicks.

looks like a good deal to me...kiwi's great. i'd love to see him in orange.

if the pick was a 2nd its a no brainer. not that braylon is chopped liver or anything, but he isn't going to be in cleveland for long.

I suppose. The Giants 2nd rounder is pretty late, just as their 3rd rounder is.

Either or for me. I just would really like Mathias Kiwanuka.

Yup, me too. I want their 2nd. Maybe we can give them one of our late rounders to offset the 2nd coming to us.

I'd like to see Kiawanuka rushing the QB, but who the hell are we throwing to?

K2 is gone, JJ and Heiden are ????, which leaves us with Rucker/Dinkins, Stallworth, Cribbs and Steptoe.... ouch.

Can't fix one problem and create another IMO.

1. JJ will most likely be back, the Browns have been talking to his agent (which doesn't mean he will sign, in my opinion he will).

2. We have an outside chance at Coles (and any other FA WR - which there isn't much left).

3. There are other possible trades.

4. And we also have one first and two second rounders coming up on Day 1 of the draft (as well as the other picks later in the draft).

I wouldn't worry...yet.

We need to sign a veteran corner in my opinion. Mcdonald and Wright are suspect and if one of them goes down were screwed. Cmon Kokinis lets do something.......

Not a big fan of Bey. I think drafting him to replace BE is doing just that. Bringing in a great athlete with so so hands. Give me Hakeem Nicks over Bey any day of the week. Sure he isn't as fast but he is a good route runner with great hands. After years of watching the likes of Edwards and Quincy and Dropcutt... wouldn't it be nice to have a Wr corp that consistantly caught the catchable pass???

No way is Heyward-Bey available at 36. With the way he ran at the combine he may have jumped Maclin for the 2nd WR off the board. He doesn't make it past Philly at 21 in my opinion, likely earlier.

At 36, we'd be looking at Hakeen Nicks (would love to see him in a Browns uni) or Kenny Britt.

What would be interesting is to see what we'd do at #5 if we picked up Kiwanuka/got rid of Edwards, and Curry/Crabtree were gone. Do we still take Brown/Orakpo, do we go OT (Oher or A Smith), Jenkins, or a surprise like Raji or Moreno?

I was thinking Nicks would be gone before Bey... He really improved his stock in the bowl game, and also in the off season.....

I think great hands are valued more by some than those who have great speed.

This year the Wrs are going to be hard to predict. A lot will come down to which team is looking for a Wr and what they want from him. Stretch the field? Bey, Playmaker? Harvin. Hands Guy? Nicks. Big Body? Britt. All after Crabtree and Macklin.

As for valuing hands vs speed, a lot teams feel they can teach a guy to catch but cannot coach speed. Personally I've seen this strategy fail miserably over and over but teams still want the speed guy. I cannot think of any player that was drafted with questionable hands that became a "hands" guy. Which is why I wasn't too excited about drafting Hubbard last year.

That is going to be the main bullet for trading Edwards...anyone who thinks the kid wants to resign here is dilusional..he doesn't want to play here..remember he was miffed Miami didn't draft him..

I would do it to...because he will walk and we won't get anything for him.

i suppose i could go look this up- but i'm sure someone on here will know so i'll just ask...

Is Kiwi a LB or a DE for the giants. If a DE, will he be able to play the outside lb or is this a calculated gamble??

As much as i hate to lose that much offensive firepower (winslow and edwards)- i can see another trade happening. And the giants just make too much sense. But i would make a phone call to the eagles before pulling the trigger on a trade.....

I think great hands should be valued above speed guys too, but that doesn't always seem to be the case. I think Jester summed it up well.

Nonetheless, I wouldn't be surprised if Nicks goes ahead of Heyward-Bey, but I think a team will fall in love with Heyward-Bey's speed, and I think Percy Harvin will go ahead of Nicks because of his playmaking abilities in college. With that in mind, I think Nicks may be available at 36, and if we were to trade Braylon (the previous post that I replied about), then I'd not hesitate to grab him there knowing we have #50 also for OC, RB, CB, or whatever the FO decides we need.

This trade would make sense for both teams...Giants have Osi, Tuck, Canty, Bernard, Robbins, Cofield for their DL...Kiwanuka has 2 years left on his rookie deal...how are they gonna re-sign him?

He's played both..16 games with 9 starts at defensive end and 10 starts at strongside linebacker..

In 2 seasons, he has 102 tackles (65 solo), 8.5 sacks, 2 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles..
In 2007, he won the starting strongside linebacker job after spending the entire offseason learning the new position following a rookie year spent at defensive end.

So yeah I'd do it in a heartbeat..

I'm sad to see Dra go ... he was a CLASS ACT and a good role model and someone the youngins could learn from .. he showed up to play every week and gave it his all ....... he wasn't a good LBer but those other attributes seam to be severely lacking on our team as a hole and on D especially ...

I wish he could have stood here as a back up ... I hope he enjoys his time in Denver and wish him nothing but the very best on and off the field ...

even though I thought U were a well below Avg. LBer I will miss what u brought to the team ...

THANKS ...... and GOOD LUCK DRA .....

LOL - I just went over to the Giants forum to see if there was any chatter about a BE trade. Some of their fans REALLY want him... They are saying things like:

BE for a 1st, 4th and 6th would be a steal!

BE for Kiwi and a 2nd and 4th would be a great trade!

LOL!

I'm not sure I want BE gone but if we get one of those offers, he had better be.

Do any of you think there is anything to this or just rumors?
