I am glad that losing our Pro-Bowl TE makes you so happy Diam. IMHO KW2 and JJ are the only two players on this team that know how to catch the ball!!!! If we got a 2nd and 5th, that is good compensation and a good deal; but I for one will miss Kellen's passion on this team. JMHO Go Brownies!!!!

I haven't logg on forever but obviously this has to be weighed in on. Absolutely MASSIVE move by the new front office.
Right now, I'm honestly not sure how I feel about it. I'm ok with moving Winslow, given his attitude problems and injury issues... but damn, the man was talented. I don't necessarily think that a 2nd and a 5th gives us spectacular value for an All-Pro TE.
However, if we are to move him, I'm glad the FO is doing it through picks. Consistently good teams build through the draft so hopefully this is the first step in adding to a young core.
With Winslow gone, do ya figure Edwards is next?

glad to see we're getting something for him. the guy always played hard but there was no doubt that the knees were going to continue to be a problem.
This was my first thought, too. Every snap he takes puts him one step closer to another knee injury. While that's technically true of every player, in this case, the knees don't have much left. My biggest fear was that he'd get seriously injured and we'd never get anything for him. Hopefully, he's healthy enough at this time of the year to pass the physical.

Absolutely hate to see one of my favorite Browns go. The man was a freak when it came to passion/heart and HANDS.
But, if we got a 2nd and 5th for him? I wouldn't be able to say "yes" fast enough.
The man was an egomaniac who MAYBE has 3 years left in the tank...who never could block and got WORSE due to injury and didn't even care enough to learn all the correct formations.
You don't win championships with flashy superstars (KW2), you win it with steady, team-first contributors who all do their jobs (JJ). Maybe this team is finally "getting it". We shall see.

Yeah, he won't know who to throw it to who can drop it or who to throw it to after he interferes with a defender.

U got that right. Not only will the QB have to adjust to a somewhat altered system, he'll have to adjust to a TE that runs the right route and a WR that actually catches the ball.
Tough times...

YYYEEEEEEEEEHHAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!
'Bout damned time.
We just dumped one of our "ME-FIRST!" players who, physically, is on the wrong side of his career and was making noise about.........a CONTRACT EXTENSION?!?!
Sorry, but I had no need for a ONE-DIMENSIONAL player who REFUSED to block. Yeah, great hands, but a limited player. Great move dumping a problem child.
He and his idiotic father can take their problems to Tampa. Goodbye, thanks for the plays but not the disruptions.
Regarding the draft picks, it's going to be a first day pick and a mid-round (but not a 7th) pick, or maybe even a bit higher one. You don't trade more than one end-of-the-draft selections for a player.....ever. It's a GREAT pick and a FILLER pick.
Great move by a team that needs draft help and SALARY CAP RELIEF. Don't forget about that one people.
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***

now all we have to do is PRAY he somehow passes his physical ... Please Please Please ...
our only hope is they just want him so bad there going to give him a cursory physical ... like just touch his knee and say .... ya, thats good ..
and I could really care less what we got for him .. he showed up on Sundays and made plays .... but he was a MENTAL MIDGET that could not even line up correctly ... he could not pracice .. EVER ... and he was a class A .... JACK ASS!!!!!! ... and my guess is that he was alot like A-Rod in the yankees locker room ... no one really liked him ...
Now thats something we can agree on Diam. I couldn't have said it better myself
I AM ALWAYS RIGHT... except when I am wrong.

I think that no matter what you think of the man, everyone probably would agree that he was passionate about the game. He played hurt and you do have to admire that.
But let's be honest here, the kid breaks his leg in the second game of his rookie season.. not his fault. Misses the season.. again, not his fault
Then goes out, wrecks a motorcycle doing dumb stunts and the team makes changes in his contract as they should.. but they could have been really tough on him and they weren't. They did a new contract that would allow him to make back what he lost for the bike incident. Then he has a pro bowl season, and simply forgets that the team did him some favors after he did dumb stuff..
So while there is little question that he was amazing when playing, he was trouble in other areas...
If we got a 2nd and anything.. I'd take it and run.... and I'll wish him very well...

U know .. this guys so frickin stupid he may very well report to his physical in TB riding a cycle .... wavs .. I will not be real happy until after he passes his physical ... at that point I will be estatic ... and if we do indeed get a 2nd ... I'll prolly ... well no need to go there ..... theres alot more to it than just making a few plays on Sundays ... looking at the total package .... he was not a positive on this team ... and B just confirmed what I ALWAYS THOUGHT about him in the locker room .. hes a BAD TEAMMATE .... Me guys like him and A-Rod are not worth it ...

Good Luck Kellen. This team will miss those hands and that intensity. I only hope we are able to find someone in return that can catch the freaking ball.
I would have rather traded Edwards. Who knows, maybe they still will.

WHAT THE HECK!!!!! WHY!!!??? Winslow is the best TE in the GAME!!! BEST!! No homerism AT ALL!!! He is a GAMER!! Rucker will never be what Winslow is even at 90%!!! We better be getting a 2nd and 3rd!! Might as well trade Braylon too then!!!

IMO - He's addition by subtraction. Getting him out of the locker room and off the field, plus cap implications makes it worth the trade regardless of what we get back.
The draft picks are a bonus and something we certainly need, but as long they still take him off our hands - I'm a happy fan.
Here's hopin'

Though Kellen Winslow is one of my favorite players (was one of my favorite players) I am not saddened by him being traded for a couple of reasons.
1. All the reports were saying he was going to get traded, so I was prepared for it.
2. His injury history indicates that he will only be able to play at a high level for a few more years.
3. He had become somewhat of a malcontent, fighting with Phil Savage publicly, wanting a new contract etc.

Do me a favor a list the responsibilities in detail of a tight end and why Winslow is the best in the game at each of those categories.
You shouldn't even have to get into intangibles before it begins to make sense
Best hands in the game? Maybe. Best TE in the game? Pass around whatever it is you're smokin'

actually we both agreed U acted like a pompous ass in the other thread ...... for some reason my response to U got deleted ... so I won't waste my time and re-type it here ... i really have no clue why that response or a bunch of other stuff from that thred was removed .... but such is life ... even Refs make mistakes sometimes ... How U or anyoine else can just blindly stick up for Jeannie wth Rogers is beyone me .... I have placed no blame ... U on the other hand ... place balme and will not ELABORATE in the least ... other than to refer to some program that even u said the players will not recieve until the 16th of march ... no clue how that works ... but who really cares ... it'll work it self out one way or the other eventually .. JUST LIKE THIS DID .... that is if he miracoulosly can pass his physical ...

I find it really interesting to watch this go down.
Winslow was going to be the GUY when the Browns drafted him....everyone on the board was seeing GREATNESS in the guy
Yet coming out of school....the knock on KWII was he was selfish (Im a soldier) that he ran bad routes, and everyone knew he did not block well...he was a WR in a TE body.
Now 5 years later its
Get him out of here...he is selfish...runs bad routes...and cant block.
Ill be honest..I really felt the Browns were taking Ben at pick 6

Don't know why some of you are shocked about the trade when we speculated he would be gone. He's a chatterbox in the huddle/disruptive..got Mr.Drew-givemethemoney for a agent.. and that mess that stirred up with his mystery illness(not so mystery to me) plus the fact that he'll never ever be 100%....need more?
It's a logical move when you have healthier TE's in stock..and you avoid the mess that is coming on the horizon. Hack..I heard that Botch was going to grab Mr.Impact...he wasn't going after Ben..

One prima-donna gone, coupla more to go. Rebuilding 101.Get what you can for what you got. This may just be the 1st FO that is giving more than lip service to the far too often mentioned "we'll build thru the draft"
Indecision may,or maynot,be my problem

Wow this caught me off guard. I was under the impression that we were looking to keep both him and Braylon... I definitely understand Mangini trying to remove some volatility from the locker room but we just lost a huge talent. I won't miss the blocking but I'll miss the catches for sure. I hope we got at least a 2nd and late pick in compensation...
Thanks for busting your ass to get on the field for us and play hard for us Kellen, much appreciated.
