Now I'm really confused.

My Dad smoked for 50 odd years. Almost 2 years ago he had a severe heart attack. After 10 days or so in hospital Dad came home and lit up his last cigarette and hasn't touched one since. It took a near fatal heart attack for him to quit

Yeah, that's it. Actually, you can get 0mg nicotine juices...and some people just love the way they taste. It's that simple. Better for you than eating blueberry pie, for example, but just as tasty.

I wasnt answering for anybody else, just myself. I was answering the question as if I was a young teen. " looking cool" or whatever is the reason why many,if not most teens start smoking. So now I can go back to my high school days and look sexy with a cig in my hand and not get lung cancer

My wife and I have been smoke free for a little over 5 months, she used Chantix and some other pill, I quit cold turkey. The money we have saved each month is great, didn't realize we spent that much on cigs each month. Now if I could just give up the beer, we would be rich, LOL.
I started smoking when I was 16 and quit just after my 21st birthday. I still have the urge to smoke occasionally, mostly because of boredom. Like sitting at work, thinking "Man, I could use a smoke break right now".
But, when I decided I was done, I put a jar on my dresser in my bedroom, and whenever I had the urge to go buy a pack of cigarettes, I put a $5 bill in the jar instead, just to show myself how much money I was wasting on cigarettes.
At first, I was putting probably $30-$40 a week into that jar, now I put maybe $10 a month in.
As of right now, I have a little over $1000 in that jar (Which is now hidden, and not on top of my dresser )

well yes and no.... i hardly ever smoke regular cigs anymore...the ecig has pretty much replaced them.... the last few weeks i've been screwing up...layoffs at my job, i might be next....my pending divorce...i'm just plain mad, tired, depressed...you name it... i do however, want to stick with the ecig...regular cigs are just plain nasty... when i said quit, what i meant was the addiction to nicotine...i'm still hooked for sure... i know what i need to do, thats exactly what i did, and i didn't smoke for over 3 years....then i picked up a cigar...and that was it...problem is, i don't want to... its dumb to smoke plain and simple...worst mistake i ever made....addiction sucks..

Gotcha. That's the thing I hear from most people that have gone to vaping...that when they do try an analog smoke it tastes like butt. That's a good thing.
Btw, nicotine, as far as testing has proven is not harmful and may be beneficial to your health in many ways. So, don't feel guilty right now for that.

Yes, it does. But, no more so than caffeine.
Nicotine (which occurs naturally in potatoes, tomatoes, and cauliflower) has been proven to help with ADHD, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases, and several other medical conditions.
The problem is nicotine is associated with cigarettes, which are unquestionably HORRIBLE for our health. Smoking is bad...but it's due to the other 4000+ additives put in cigarettes more than the actual nicotine.

Well, I've been vaping for a couple of days...and loving it. I'm still going through the learning curve, but I can totally see how this can break the smoking habit. I'm down to about half a pack of analogs per day...and mostly I smoke those to make sure they really do taste as bad as vapers say. And, they do. After having flavored juices, analogs taste like...well, like nothing. The FDA can KMA with their "e-cigarettes are dangerous" crap.

I haven't smoked since the ban on smoking in bars.. Just gave it up. The kids were after me to quit, so I quit.

I had a sadistic 7th grade gym teacher who told us "noone likes a quitter" and I asked him "does this mean cigarettes too?" his answer was 3 swats and 5 laps around the track.........And hell yeah I still smoke like a fiend!!!! but damn them FSC, it's sometimes hard to keep them suckers lit.

Bic and Zippo had to have been behind the FSC cigs regulation ... I'm constantly re-lighting. And then there's the cascades of embers that fall between my legs when I have to re-light a cig while driving ... damn bureaucrats!

I noticed the "bands" on my Marlboro variant paper a few months ago and wondered wth it was. I always lose my fire out the window at those points it seems. From Wikipedia Response from consumers Some consumers say they have found a noticeable difference in the taste of FSC cigarettes from non-FSC cigarettes, with others reporting physical symptoms, usually a feeling of nausea. Some consumers have begun online petitions against FSC cigarettes. [7] Currently there are no findings published on the long term health effects of humans inhaling EVA polymers which are widely used in the packaging industry including on food packaging. Test results available conducted on rodents show 'Ethylene Vinyl Acetate copolymer emulsion based adhesive' to be a 'highly carcinogenic substance' triggering the cellular proliferation necessary for tumor development.[8] It's funny to me how they'll just use anything that works without a long testing period in regular smokes but want to ban PV's because they could be dangerous.

I buy cigs at a local tobacco store, and the owner told me he's gotten a lot of complaints about nausea and headaches from customers complaining about FSC. I guess the Feds think we're all gonna croak from smoking anyway, so why would we be concerned about ingesting yet another chemical? Stupid nanny-state sons of bastages ... GRRR!

Not to be a kill joy or nothing but.......If your Dad smoked for over 50 yrs., & had a heart attack, what makes you think it was because he smoked?
People and Men in general seem to have a heart attack more & more after the age of 45. If you listen to every Dr. out there, they would have you believe smoking kills everything. Now I am not saying it's good for you, but I don't believe it's near the killer they say it is. If that was the case all smoker's would just fall over dead after they lit up.
I have just seen to many non-smokers die of the same things smokers die of.
The difference? If you smoke, that's the reason. If you don't smoke, then that is considered normal at that age.
It never ceases to amaze me how after all these years, the goverment still can pull the wool over everybody's eyes. Like I said before, I don't think smoking is good for you, but if it was as bad as they say, we would all be dead by now.

We all know smoking is bad for your health.
Many of us know that doctors are like scientists - they HAVE to have an explanation for death or disease. If a doc finds out you smoke, or used to - that gets the blame. If you didn't ever smoke, then it's considered a mystery - bad luck.
Same with alcohol - if you go out and have a drink or 2, then on the way home someone t-bones your car - I guarantee the report will say "alcohol was a factor" in the accident. It won't say " the driver off the car that was hit was not at fault".
Where do you think all the statistics come from? Basically, they are taking every accident and saying "Oh, the innocent guy - the person that got rear ended/run into - even though they were right and did nothing wrong - well, their bac was .01" so alcohol was a factor.

Hey Arch, How you been? I know, and It just drives me nut's. I remember back in the '80's, The Gov. started to crack down on the tobacco co's. A friend of mine said, just you wait, we let the gov. get away with this, then the next thing you know it's going to be what we eat. I said Huh? Well, sure enough, look at New York, not to mention, Fat people are starting to worry about if they can even get health care because it's supposed to be un-healthy.
I think it's all about Gov. control. Any way to get the people under the thumb.

Got my Titan 510 with PCC yesterday. Figures I bought 3 packs of camel lights thinking I wasn't going to get the 510 until later next week.... But I've been on this thing for the past day and a half and dont have the urge for one of those analogs, it does the job great. Thanks for the links BrownieElf, I already placed the order for replacement battery, atomisers, and some juice!

Are you staying away from the analogs?
I'm close to a decision on getting the screwdriver. Almost ordered it yesterday. Man, to be not sucking smoke into my body would be a new lease on life.

Most if not all probably goes to pay medicare bills for those older folks who have smoked 50+ years.

Pretty much. I'm still puffing on a few...and that's usually two hits and then I put it out. So, three different cigs yesterday with a couple hits each. I won't do that for much longer, but I'm trying to figure out what we actually saw in the taste of cigarettes -- because they taste simply AWFUL. Plus, it's a feeling of "I should be smoking" since I did it for over 20 years. But, the minute I light one, I know it's not what I want.

I encourage you to try it! What do you really have to lose? Just be sure to get "spare parts" so when something dies you don't run back to analogs. I have something like six spare batteries and six spare atomizers. Also have a lot of juice.

You know what... I never did get one.
I was reading so much on their forums and it seems like most of them were light smokers to begin with. People smoking lights and less than a pack a day. That made me skeptical. For all the more it costs I shoulda and still should try one. Besides the money cigarettes are costing me their also killing me slowly. That's not just a cliche, I can really feel the bad effects these days.
I'm gonna revisit the e-cigs idea.
How you doin'?

Actually, I've read that a lot of vapers smoked full flavor cigs and many smoked more than a pack a day...but, everyone is different.
I'm getting back in to it. Tired of the stink of analogs, among other things.
The Joye eGo is a hot, new PV. Drip tips and that and you're set!
