I consider ND getting in at all while Whisky and Arkansas, Texas, and whoever else is gettting "overlooked" is as bad a travesty as having to decide who gets sandblasted, Gators/Wolverines.
And for your personal satisfaction, I don't want to play Michigan because it's already been done. The Rematch rewards a loser. They lost. They're out. But I don't make that call, the voters will. Gonna be fun to see how ticked Meyer gets.

I don't know about tarnishing a rivalry, but it will render meaningless a great OSU/Mich game that was already played.
If the loser gets a rematch, it means the game meant nothing.
If that game was for the NC like every fan of either school called it before the game, why play another?

That game meant the Big 10 winner. That was all it meant to start with.

What if UM beats OSU by 3 points in the NC game, does that make them champs,or does it say the 2 teams are equal? That is the argumeant I have against a rematch. If the above scenerio plays out, then UM wins the championship, having lost to the #2 team. Another good argument in my opinion. Also creates the possibility of a split championship that I would rather receive NO credit for from the AP after losing to Michigan 17-14, whatever. Again, we need a playoff. I'll bet Meyer is already telling his kids to stage a walkout.

That game meant the Big 10 winner. That was all it meant to start with. And for decades it has always meant that the winner advances to the end of the rainbow, and the loser went somewhere else. Is it time for that to end ?? I hope not, but it looks like it might.

Because when you win our game it means that one team goes on to the big game and the other doesnt.
It would render our season ending match-up irrelevant as the loser would never eliminated. It has ALWAYS been that way now it might change forever. What is a rivalry without bragging rights for the year??

Looks like it ain't gonna matter,...the Coaches poll is out, Florida is # 2 !!! If this is the case, there are 20 gutless coaches out there. Can you see the votes from week to week? and see who changed their vote? So a 10 point win over an Arkansas team that lost the previous week makes Florida the #2 team? Give me a break........Florida will lose by 21 points to OSU.

I don't think they make that information public, not sure. I can see though that at least one voter didn't vote. There are only 62 votes this week, usually there are 63.
I think more than 20 "changed" their minds,...Florida now has a 26 point lead,....but I did not do the math. If anyone does find a site where they show who voted forr what, please post the link,....though I am not too perturbed with the results, I would like to know who the cowards are. I agree with nas, I didn't think a win vs. a two-loss Arkansas would have done it.
BTW, I ignore the AP, though I respect its content,...

Speaking of gutless........I did see Tressel refused to submit his ballot? That's not being gutless. Think about it Nas, if he votes for Florida and Michigan gets in the game don't you think Michigan would use that to motivate them that Jim Tressel didn't think they belonged in the game? and Vise versa with Florida. It's call being smart not gutless.

Speaking of gutless........I did see Tressel refused to submit his ballot? Sour grapes? I thought that decision took more guts than being able to select your opponent for the NC.

Sour grapes? Not sour grapes, I just don't understand how a coach cannot submit a ballot with all that's at stake.

I can post the link,...www.cbssportsline.com, he said he and Smith wanted to avoid a conflict of interest. As it turned out his vote wouldn't have counted for a hill of beans anyway.
The man is all class.
Anybody find a listing of who voted what,....????

Anyone that has a problem with Tressell has to just be a Michigan fan or afraid to play us...there isn't a classier coach in College Football - doesn't run up the score, prays with his plaers, leaves interviews after big wins to pray with his and other teams players; pure class!
We're gonna play Florida and YES the coaches votes should be publicized especially if Tressell's vote/non vote was publicized.

That link doesn't have the final Harris poll results in yet,...they're ASSUMING Florida is # 2 there also.
I cannot find the Harris poll posted anywhere yet, and had this same trouble at this same time last Sunday.

If the loser gets a rematch, it means the game meant nothing. I don't agree with that....had OSU lost being #1 in that type of game, a rematch could have been in order....for Michigan to lose and not take a poll hit is a joke. I don't think that has ever happened.

The thing that bothers me is the manner in which voters went about their business. It's not that Michigan didn't get in........I never expected them to after losing to Ohio State, it's just how the entire process played out. It wreaks of a biased shift in voting based purely on avoiding a rematch.
Michigan loses a close game to OSU but remains at #2 and #3. Then USC beats a ND team at home by less then Michigan beat them on the road. Nevertheless, SC moves to a solid #2, Michigan still the clear #3. Then SC loses, Florida wins by 10 against a 2 loss team (one of which was by nearly 40 to USC) and they jump Michigan as well? The only reason Florida is even in the position to play for the national title is because the SEC plays an extra game: the conference championship. IMO that shouldn't even be factored in to the equation for that exact reason: Florida had a muligan to impress the voters. They have been average the ENTIRE season, barely sliding past Vanderbilt (who Michigan beat by 20), FSU, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina. Just look at the numbers before the SEC championship:
Michigan opponents record: 84-61
Michigan opponents who are ranked :
OSU #1 Loss Wisconsin #7 Win ND #12 Win
Florida opponents record: 81-63
Florida opponents who are ranked:
Tenn #17 Win Auburn #11 Loss LSU #5 Win
Common opponent: Vanderbilt
Michigan win 27-7 Florida win 25-19
Pretty plain to see right there: advantage Michigan
If they didn't want Michigan in, the voters should have never kept them where they were. To have two teams jump them when they were idle is a little shady, especially when Florida was the slopiest top 10 team this entire season. JMHO.

Give it up man.....you may get in even being a bridesmaid in your own conference..
It has nothing to do with my team.....but 2nd place in a conference shouldn't play.

If you don't want to play Michigan just say you don't want to play Michigan. But tarnishing the rivalry? Come on, that's a bit much. Just so we are clear here Nas. Put the shoe on the other foot and tell me truthfully what you would think given the circumstances. Mcihigan wins the last game of the year and has to play OSU again for the title people in MI would have kittens!! It would make our great game worthless as one team would ahve to beat the other twice to win while the other only once. If you refuse to acknowledge that as unfair than you are spitting in the face of our tradition for selfish reason. I made a mistake today by taking a post from a music board that i frequent and posting it here earlier today. I just figured out that that it was culled from an ESPN piece (Shclereth??) this morning .I had not intentions of trying to pass it off as my own examination but where I took it from there was no reference as to its origin. I had been looking for something of the same ilk on the UF, UofM and Bucks boards. The board I took it from has a huge SEC contigent with a ton of football discussion there. The reason I posted the 10 comparisons was that it was the best top to bottom look at the two teams in a factual basis (other than #10 which is opinion) that i saw compiled. The facts are the facts and it paint a relatively even picture. After seeing it, I dont think Michigan or Florida is getting screwed. I think that both of them did not control their own destiny. It is a crap shoot when it comes down to something like this. Michigan & Florida screwed themselves, just like USC screwed themselves yesterday, just like Louisville did against Rutgers. I have already had 3 michigan people call me that they are getting screwed this evening, and NOBODY mentions the undefeated 2004 Auburn team, or points to other BCS injustices, it is just all about michigan. It isnt all about Michigan it is about the BCS in general. If Michigan is left out it gives them the "perfect" out, as the Michigan faithful hadnt even admitted a loss in the game on the 18th yet, "it was the turf", "it was a bad call", "no way you could do that to our D again". Even when beaten most U of M fans cant accept it. The whole BCS fiasco has just prolonged it and they are hoping that with a Title shot and victory they could pretend it never happened. Well it did happen and they should have dropped at least a slot. And if they get left out so be it. If they get in so be it, but recognize that BOTH teams are in the same boat. One hour to the announcement. Good Luck Peen, Good luck Nas.

My guess is that will be one of the new "tweaks" next year -- that only conference champs (and/or Notre Dame, if that ever becomes applicable again) can get in The Big One.
We'll know here in about 40 minutes.

It always has to be some kind of excpetion for Notre Dame. Join the Big Ten make us the Big 12 East and than we have our 12 games or 2 divisions and everybody is happy ...oh except for Notre Dame who gets ass raped 3 times a year in this scenario

The BCS has made it so easy on ND, that they would be stupid to join a conference. Go play Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin every year or rattle off wins against Air Force, Navy, etc.? Since they're not affiliated with a conference they keep all the money that comes from a BCS bowl, which is an enourmous sum.

I want to mention Auburn, here. There were also 2 other undefeated teams that year, THAT DID NOT PLAY The Citadel that year OR ANY OTHER 1-AA school,....that always seems to get overlooked when bashing the BCS over Auburn,....Auburn, therefore, was also a victim of its own lack of control over its destiny. IF they were that good, they would've gotten more poll votes,....well, they didn't. So be it.

Osu will take FLA to the shed, Michigan will take SC to the shed, LSU will take ND to the shed, Louisville will take Wake to the shed...........what has it come to when we have to look at Boise State and Oklahoma for a competitive game.
