I went to small Kirtland...East Canton wasn't a rival on a local level. They were a rival at a state level. We only saw them at large Invitationals and Regional or State Meets. And unlike other big rivals like Maplewood, Caldwell, and others....we didn't really know the guys on East Canton...and to be honest, we didn't try to...lol
I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken...
What's the use of wearing your lucky rocketship underpants if nobody wants to see them????

H.S. basketball. I got called for goal tending twice - the first time I was in 10th grade. Second time I was a jr. Football: All state split end. Tied our shcools record for t.d's in a season and also set the record for longest t.d reception. Longest t.d reception record was broken in the 2008 football season. (I held it for 22 years)
-I had an uncanny ablilty of reading defenses. I played d.e. in a 5-2 scheme. We watched film of the opposing team for about 2- minutes each week. During games, as I lined up, I would constantly yell at the def. tackle or the l.b. where the ball was going - be it run or pass. And I was right 90% of the time.
Couldn't palm a basketball, but I could jam 1 handed or 2 handed easily.
Jr. high: set the high jump record for our school and league. The school record was broken 2 years ago.
And my personal favorite: One of my older brothers lived in D.C. - only made it to one of my games, and it was a baseball game. I didn't know it at the time - my dad and brother told me after the game - but as I got up to bat, my bro asked dad if I ever hit home runs. (I didn't - didn't have one single home run. Batted about .425, but no homers)
My dad said no, but he gets singles. Pitch came, and whammo - over the fence in right field. Home run. Only one I ever had.
Couple of years later, playing church league softball. I was on first and the batter hit a single to right/center.......I was cruising, all out - second base, rounded third and halfway home when BAM, I went down like the deer I shoot. Pulled hamstring. Halfway to home. And when I say I went down, I mean down, NOW.

Well, now that you mention it, I haven't heard of that position either. Therefore, I edited my post. Split end.

I have many fond memories and hopefully have more to come. I have been blessed in every sport I've played. I have a couple of moments I'll share. The most humorous one (though you might have had to be there) was when I was playing baseball and running track. It was tough getting to both practices and making all the events. One time we had a home meet and a home game. I was playing 1st and also throwing shot, disc, and high jump. During our half the inning when I wasn't due up, I ran over to the track and would throw or jump in my baseballl uniform and go back in time to get back in the field. I went 4-5 with 1 HR, took 1st in the shot, 3rd in disc, and 5th in high jump. Another highlight was my senior year. Once the score was settled and Dad had pulled me from the game, I would set my helmet down, grab a headset and Dad would include me in the playcalling like I was an asst. coach. He knows that coaching is my goal, after playing for the Browns of course, and he gave me that opportunity. I'm not the only one he's done that with, but some of the staff said I was well ahead in the learning curve. The greatest moment of my career thus far, though, was the day I signed my letter of intent. I had really wanted to go to OSU, but had decided I wanted to play right away and didn't want to add 40 pounds and change positions and wait to play for a couple of year. The coach at the school I had decided on was someone I was very familiar with. We went there on signing day to sign the letter of intent. I sat with the coaches with my parents there and signed. After that, Coach announced that Dad had accepted a job on the staff. It was the most touching moment I've ever had. Dad had turned down offers to coach in college before because it was his dream to coach me in high school and mine too. Then we both realized another dream when he accepted the job. He had always wanted to go into the college ranks and I had a goal of playing college ball. To be able to achieve both on the same day and know we would enjoy that coach/player relationship for another 4 years was just too good to be true. Now, if he follows me to the Browns when I get drafted in 3 years, I will have to edit this post

This is interesting. Coach B's son is posting. Does this mean Coach and son are legitimate and DM's original I"I have been deceived" post was BS? Have I missed something? Is everyone playing games?
Do the best of us need to find another board? Who is honest here?

this is from 2 weeks ago, which is before everyone found out right?
i'm still baffled by the whole thing, has anyone confronted the guy? has he had anything to say in his defense?

I am. Simple ol me can be nothing but.
I hadn't read anything around here in a week or two until earlier this week and had no idea until I re-opened this thread and ...WOW.
Pitiful.
I'll follow Clem's thoughts in the "I feel used" thread.
I truly hope that the cancer was a lie along with everything else, but I would offer that some volunteering in a hospice might enlighten. Then again this person may have actually experienced tragedy and / or anguish. If the cancer claim is completely false, then I sincerely doubt it.
I will continue to trust when someone asks for well wishes and prayers. I do believe in the humanity of this despite the fact that I know no one personally on this board and will likely meet few, if any, members. I asked for such on behalf of my wife some months back and will always be grateful to those that took time to think about her.
As far as other things go I take folks on their word with whatever thought is necessary to validate it or not. From a QB deadbate to something political and all in between I try to offer some type of educated opinion while acknowledging whatever ignorance there might be on my part. This has served a simple man fairly well in life. I've been around this board long enough to safely say that the vast majority of folks here do speak truth as they know it.

I was 10 years old, and it was the Atom championship hockey game in our league. I was not a good player, but in that game I scored two goals and two assists, all in the third period, and we came back to win 5-3. I still remember stealing the puck from their defencmean and scoring the winning goal on a breakaway with about five minutes left. My sporting peak lasted about 15 minutes, and it was 30 years ago. All downhill from there.

Once again......coachb and his "son" were the same person.
He has been lying since the first post he ever made. While no one can say for sure whether he had Cancer, since everything else was made up what do you think?
Some people just have an empty space where their soul should be. This is one such person.

the real question: how high is he on your draft board?
freshman 2010 means draft eligible 2013. Coach B's son is coming to the NFL!
I have uncovered his true identity as well: Ansah
(almost went with Goodwin, but I think it's obvious that he's bigger and stronger)

I made my first varsity team in 9th grade, playing field hockey. My sports story is about Terri, our goalie.
Terri had polio, wore braces on both legs, but was able to walk. She was a very courageous girl, never accepting her limitations. She was determined to play sports and worked very hard to become a field hockey goalie and made the varsity team.
We played 3 games, winning 2 of them. Terri was amazing, blocking many opposing shots on goal. Unfortunately, she passed away 4 years after graduating from high school, from polio. I will never forget her courage, determination, and success in overcoming obstacles.

I'm confused... Quote:
Strep has nothing to do with anything - qb wise.
I WILL say this - for a guy that played shotgun his entire career - fumbling some snaps from under center is understandable, and VERY correctable. His fumbled snaps are of no concern to me, If I was a scout. Easily correctable.
Heck, in H.S. I was a backup qb......most of my snaps came w/ the 2nd string center. We had no problems. When I ran plays with the starting center, I had trouble - different feel to it. Took a bit to get comfortable with where the ball was going to hit my hands.

For the record, by looking at the "Glory Days" embedded video, I keep thinking of that song, "Centerfold". Na na na na na na.

Confused about me saying I was the backup q.b. AND a tight end? Sophomore - 2nd string qb. Jr. and Sr. - tight end. No confusion. No "gotcha" moment.
