I don't technically do pull-ups. I started out using the bands which I attached to a hook in my ceiling. I found that to be enough for me. I'm 44 & female and didn't feel the need to be able to crush pull-ups. Even doing it the way I do, I have seen great results!
I understand. Getting results is all that matters. However, there's something about raising your chin over that bar that's just so awesome. And knowing it's your own weight that you're pulling up too....great stuff. Plus, you look cool doing it (well that can be debated).
The other side of that is that I might not have perfect form throughout on all of my pull-ups (swinging knees, jerk or drop to my feet to quickly).

I'm through the first week of the last phase (month 3) and am starting to see some rapid gains. Mind you, I do not follow the diet - rather take supplements and make fruit protein shakes in the blender (1 banana, 4 large frozen strawberries, 2 scoops of blueberries, skim milk, 4 scoops of fat free yogurt, a bit of Odwalla Superfood and 2 heaping scoops of protein). Very yummy.

Well...I have core syn tonight and Fountain of Youth yoga tomorrow and week 8 will be done. Measurements on Saturday. I'm SOOOOO stoked because I'm really getting pumped for weeks 9-13 when the "magic" happens. I'm really looking forward to seeing my pushup results with a 20-45 lb weighted vest on. I will be changing my diet this Sunday from 50/30/20 ratio to 40/40/20 which means more carbs (YAY !!!!). I'll be able to add in sweet potatos, wheat bread, etc with my lunch. I know, I get excited about the "little" things.

I have a problem with any kind of movement like the banana where I'm sitting up on my butt.
When I was 17 I had a cyst removed from my tailbone. Until recently, it was never a problem. Now that I've lost this weight, anytime I do "banana", "crunchy frogs" or "cherry bombs (P90X+)" I get a pinching/ stabbing pain in that area like I'm being poked with needles.
I use a 2" towel under my butt but it it only seems to hurt when I move around (roll from side to side then to my butt).
Guess I was a "fat butt."

So has anyone checked out the new Beachbody website format? So far, I'm not liking it and that seems to be the consensus from the posts I've read.

For anyone looking to purchase, it seems like the best deal is going through this site: http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/p90x.dovs. team beachbody site. Buying from beachbody.com is $119.85 and free express delivery. The team beachbody site is $119.85 plus shipping. I thought there was a better deal when you buy from team beachbody, but it doesn't look that way anymore. I could be wrong, but just wanted to post in case anyone is buying the dvd's like me.

great motivation devildawg. Misses and I finished our first week and will be starting Week 2 tomorrow. We debated on P90X lean for a bit but we're gonna stick w/ the Classic, i think the program was primarily designed around that.

Pretty sure that "Team Beachbody" and "Beachbody.com" are one in the same. The last part of my Beachbody e-mail is @teambeachbody.com.

They are the same but when I was looking at this last, 'team beachbody' gave you 10% off your order for being a member; whereas beachbody.com was just what you find when you google p90x.

I have seen Purgatory. It's name is "weighted vest plyometrics." I THOUGHT I had been "bringing it." That ALL changed tonight. I almost called a tow truck because I thought I overheated.

Can't imagine doing that in a weighted vest...I'm usually shirtless and drenched in sweat. Weighted vest = HELL.

Wow, a weighted vest with Plyo?! That doesn't sound like fun at all.....well, I guess after you wake up from passing out would be slightly fun.
As of right now, my rankings go like this (hardest to easiest):
Interval Plus Plyo Chest/Back Core Legs/Back Yoga ~All others~ Kenpo Cardio Kenpo
I ran through Interval this morning with our neice/nanny. She didn't get half way before saying, "......there is no...FREAKING WAY!" And she didn't use "freaking". I got her to modify so she could finish but she was whipped! And she did Plyo last week on her first time (she modified a little bit but nothing like today).

I haven't attempted the "Plus" yet. Half way through my final month of Classic. Plan to integrate the Plus discs after completed - turning it up a notch. Actually looking forward to seeing the new exercises...but after seeing you rate Interval Plus the toughest, my anticipation has regressed.

I've subbed the Interval X+, Kenpo/Cardio + and Abs/Core+ for Cardio X, Kenpo X and ARX (on a few days) respectively.
I doubt I'll ever do the Upper & Lower Plus. Just not enough for me.

That is what I have been thinking of doing. I never do the Yoga - I tried it at the beginning and was just not a fan. I substituted Core Synergistics in place of it. I actually like Kenpo as well - I go through it VERY aggressively, and always feel the soreness the next day across the back. At first I didn't like it - thought it was too easy. Once upping the intensity, I get the same sweat as plyo, and feel the results the next day. Plus, the area I need the most work is in the love handles - little fat there when pinched. Kenpo is great for rocking that area.
After these next 2 weeks, I'll probably try each Plus disc and formulate a workout integrating those. Still will not integrate Yoga into it...but will find a nice substitute.

Shoulder, bi's & tri's completed last night. Threw in two bonus rounds of:
Behind the neck Smith Press (double drop set) Barbell curls (triple drop) Tricep pushdowns (double drop)
Followed by:
Smith upright rows (double drop) Cable barbell curls (double drop) Tricep dip machine (double drop)
Had a little scare during the regular workout. I do chair dips with my feet up on a bench and my hands on the opposite bench. I do these weighted with heavy weights. I had two 45 lb plates and a 60 lb dumbbell in my lap and the pressure from the weight made my right knee buckle on the first set. I corrected it with a thick towel under one of the 45's on the second set but it hurt like heck.
Yoga tonight as week 9 of round 2 is flying.

You'll want your recovery drink to be at a 4:1 ratio of carbs to protein.

After about a month of doing other stuff, Kathy Smith, Hip Hop Abs....Yesterday I started my third time through P90X classic. So today was Day 2 for me, AGAIN. Plyo, the greatest workout. Ironically, it was June 16 of last year that I started P90X for the first time. I need to do measurements and pics. My body has changed soooo much...all while really only losing about 14 pounds since the beginning. I really can't even believe it - the hard work and getting up at 4:30 has been totally worth it! So rewarding. Keep pushing play everyone! gobrowns!!!!!!!!!!!

Horrible night last night....I'm right in the middle of sun salutations when lightning strikes and the power goes out. So...I ended up doing Fountain of "Boy do I hope I remember this" Yoga. I went off of memory from the Yoga X DVD and did 45 minutes. I was dripping with sweat so I must have done something right.
Then the stove wasn't working so we went out and got McDonalds. I got a Classic Grilled Chicken sandwich with no mayo which was only 370 calories. Luckily I'm allowed more carbs in this phase.
Cardio X is already done with Legs & back to go tonight. Here's to a better day today...

Devil and others on it - what supplements are you using, if any? I see p90x has a recovery drink, vitamins and bars.
Thoughts? Can you accomplish something similar w/ less costly items or is it best to stick w/ their stuff?
Thanks!

Here's a shopping list update for anyone considering doing it or getting p90x in the future: I compared pricing of the p90x site vs. Dick's Sporting goods. Mat: $30 Dick's / $102 p90x Heart Rate Monitor: $60+ Dick's / $65 p90x Push up stands: $20 Dick's / $28+ p90x Bands: Dick's did not have much here / $40+ p90x So the prices are pretty close if you get at p90x site. The biggest difference is the mat. The p90x site has a very nice mat and it's probably the best option but a little pricey initially. Currently Dick's has a $10 off coupon if you spend $50, so that's the best deal till the end of the month. Link to $10 off coupon http://i39.tinypic.com/2pqvtco.pngSo my plan is get everything but the bands at Dick's and break it up into 2 orders so I can use the coupon twice. Order 1: Mat $30 Push up stands $20 - $10 off = $40 Order 2: Heart rate monitor $60 - $10 off = $50

If you haven't already bought the HR monitor....look here: Amazon HR Monitor for $32 (no tax / free shipping) I have it and it works great! And if you don't believe my endorsement, there are close to 500 reviews on the site.

I don't take the P90X supplements, but do take creatine on muscle days and follow up the workout with a protein shake. I don't follow the diet either, as beer is too important of a staple in my life.
