Columbus goalie Mason should get em through a round or two. Don Cherry a few weeks back was going off on HNIC how"A good Ontario boy that the Maple Leafs didn't even take a look at"
The other Mason in St Louis will also be tough.

my girlfriend and i scored 2 tickets for saturday, it'll be my first playoff hockey game, and actually only my 2nd playoff game of any sport.

Those of you who picked the Flyers over the Pens want to change your picks yet after the first game?  The Pens added a lot of depth and came on strong to finish the regular season in great fashion. No way the Flyers can keep up with them, and that showed in the first game with their frustration.....this series may not even go 5 games, but then again it's hockey so who knows..... Go Pens!

cool, glad you had a great time. I've been to four NHL games - two in Toronto and the others in Montreal. Never a playoff game though. The intensity gets heavy in the playoffs, eh?

I went to one playoff game, the Penguins beat the Capitals something like 7-0.. I got Lemieux's autograph that night.
I thought the Canes were in good shape until they dropped that game last night in OT.. dammit.

That was a good game last night in Raleigh, Carolina outplayed them in the third but NJ owned Overtime. I know a player on the Devils personally (Colin White), btw.... We're not close buds, but enough to say 'hi' & joke around.
Hard to believe San Jose lost the first two at home. If they go out it's wide open in that conference. Obviously, Columbus is almost at the edge of a cliff now. They have to win the next two or are probably done.

detroit probably gets to the finals easily if san jose bows out. even if san jose survives this 0-2 hole, i think the book is finally out that these guys can't handle adversity. i will never pick them to win again. i will believe it when i see it.
it's not a matter of personnel or coaching. they addressed both after doing the same thing over the last few years. this team needs to change the way they view the game. anaheim came in there and took it to them, both games.
they added rob blake and dan boyle. those are 2 big times moves at the blue line. if you take those guys and put them on a team that's already as talented as san jose, they should have annihiliated the ducks, a team that looked as if they didn't really care ever since they won the cup.
i bet ron wilson is smiling, because they tried blaming last year's collapse on him.
if anaheim wins, and chicago finishes calgary, you're gonna get a detroit/chicago conference semi final, which is great for ratings. the hawks destroyed some old rating records and rivaled the bulls with both games 1 and 2. so for everyone that dogs on hockey, they can look at that and go pound sand.
i think vancouver is the only team that could upset detroit to get to the final. chicago is too young and not good enough defensively. unless khabibulin stands on his head (even more than he already is) and they can get pucks on chris osgood, i just don't see it.
detroit and boston in the finals would also be good for the sport. the best offensive team versus the best defensive.

"Pound sand"... lol... my sister used to say that to me! I agree completely with your thoughts on the "Tanking" Sharks.  Also agree about Vancouver... they could hang with Detroit. I love Luongo & my boy Mats Sundin. Wouldn't mind him getting a Cup ring. Chicago.... they need more experience to beat Detroit (and their series with Calgary isn't over either. I like both these teams and didn't wnat to see them matched up in the first round. Whoever gets out of that one I 'll root for in the Western conference. Yeah, San Jose is in deep trouble down 2-0 and goin' to Anaheim, & I thought this was the year they'd get over the hump.

If Luongo can keep it up, Vancouver will be tough to beat. They'll give the Wings a run for their money. I still can't believe SJ lost their 2 home games.

Calgary beat the Hawks last night... man that series might get nasty. Very physical game last night and acrimonious at the end. I really think whoever wins Game 4 is gonna win the series. Washington shutout the Rangers in N.Y., Boston is cruising over Montreal, up 3-0 now in that series. The Canadiens simply are being outclassed and their Top 2 powerplay D are out. God they looked brutal in the 3rd.

i'm curious as to what strand of the "flu" patrick kane mysteriously got on his way to calgary.
i think the kid is getting beat up, he's 170 pounds playing a calgary team that can get physical...
he had a rough first two games, 1 assist in game 2. but little guys are not exactly built for playoff hockey. tampa was able to pull it off one time with martin st louis...
what they need to do is add another big guy or two on offense...
that way you can match up guys, and put kane out there whenever the most physical line you're up against takes a seat.

the Red Wings are good. I was at tonight's game and the Blue Jackets have no answer for the depth and experience of Detroit. this series will probably be over Thursday night.

Credit to the Blue Jackets to give cbus some playoff games, and the experience will be good for the unit as a whole, but up against an established team thats also defending champs and there ya go  Still <3 the jackets after my pens tho  If they keep adding on to their base they can be dangerous

Carolina was the much quicker game while building the 3-0 lead and outshot them by a 3-1 margin then they sort of went into cruise control as it became 3-1, then 3-2.. then they started to play again but couldn't prevent it from becoming 3-3.. from that point on most of the game was played in front of the Devils goal, the Canes just couldn't score until .2 left...

Montreal swept out like dirt on the porch, Rangers now up 3-1 on Washington.
I watched the third period of the Calgary-Chicago game last night, the Flames had a 4-1 lead, blew it, but won it in the third. Big win for them.

yeah caps are just about done. boston looks unbelievable. for real.
detroit should finish the job. chicago and calgary is goin 7, no doubt. there is nothing like a game 7 in the nhl playoffs. don't matter the round, they are always special.
i missed most of the hawks game last night, i had two 3 on 3 games, but they had a tv set up outside with drinks and dogs, nice little setup. so i stayed and watched a period there, and caught the final 10 minutes at home.
it's been a really good series, for sure. the hawks have actually played better than i thought.they've been down, but they kept fighting in every game.
i'm really interested to see if the sharks can even things up tonight.

Blue Jackets out... may have been a nitpicky call at the end which led to Wings winning goal, maybe it wasn't. Either way, the Jacks were beaten by a much better team but they got some experience and plus, they have what should be a franchise goaltender and that's a good foundation to start with, along with Nash.
