His sources in the Giants organization believe the following trade will take place: Edwards for a 2nd and 4th this year and a conditional pick next year.

Take it for what it's worth.

Robiskie? As much as I like the kid... good hands, nice route runner.

He couldnt get separation in college. What makes you think he can in the NFL?

As far as Edwards is concerned.... laws of supply and demand. If we can get a 2nd, 4th, and Smith.. or a 1st rounder take it. If not give the kid a chance to redeem himself and it could work out well.

Yeah, a LATE 2nd and 4th at that....even if it´s the Shockey-deal mid-2nd...it´s not really worth it unless the conditional is a 3rd which 99% escalates into a 2nd and has at least a 50% chance of becoming a 1st

Their #29 overall is cheap enough....I wouldn´t even trade him straight up for this pick...if they balk, keep him and try trading him before the deadline ala Williams to a contending team missing a #1 WR...there will be injuries around the league by then...mid-season draft picks are thrown around, right now draft picks are the most precious things a GM holds in his hands....it´s always a bad time to trade players just before or at draft day

Agreed. The Giants 2nd is a low-rated pick.

Historically, once you get past the first 15 picks in the 1st round, you tend to have a significant drop-off in talent. Then there's another boundry once you hit the middle-to-back end of the 2nd round.

Regarding Robiskie, one way or another, no matter who we take with the 5th pick, Robiskie would be a great selection with our 2nd IMHO. He has the size and hands to be an excellent possession receiver, and that's something every team needs. I don't buy into the stuff that he doesn't get "good seperation" because that's false. It's really nothing more than an excuse to say he doesn't have great speed. Jurevicius NEVER had great speed or burst, but he knew how to get into zone's and make tough catches. THAT'S what a possession receiver is all about, which has very little to do with seperation.

speed helps with separation but not always the defining factor. Jurevicious is a great example, but he was able to separate in college.

It doesn't matter what Joe did in college, does it He knew how to settle down in zones and make tough catches. That's what Robiskie does. He isn't considered a 1st rounder because he doesn't have great speed or quickness when compared to the other receivers in this draft.

In terms of being ready for the NFL, he may just be the best suited to that label. He's an excellent route runner for a guy his size.

No, he's going to be an excellent receiver. If we go defense in the 1st, I'd be absolutely happy if we took him in the 2nd. He sure as Hell won't last much longer than our pick, if he even lasts that long at all.

People are overlooking him because of what Pryor did to the offense. With all the size and speed of the other top prospects, Robo is falling into the cracks. That will change next Saturday. IMHO he's right there with a center or an OLB like English as our pick in the 2nd round.

I'm with you on that Rish.

Screw that deal. I can't see that going through... we rejected a 2nd, 5th and a WR, but we're going to take a 2nd and a 4th, and a possibly a pick next year depending on what he does?

These are late picks in the round, don't forget.

They can shove it.

I am looking for a pen in the office. Like the idea of picks for BE. It would mean he contributed something to the team of a positive nature. Huge bust IMO and another last year? No thanks. Help him pack IMO. Hope he thinks he will score like KW Dos did.

Before I judge I would want to know the details of the conditional pick. What if it is their 2nd round pick next year that moves up to their 1st if Braylon catches 8 touchdowns or 1000 yards?

That would be picks #45 and #129 this year and a 1st or 2nd next year.

2-2nds and a 4th or

a 1st, 2nd and 4th.

I think that would make the trade reasonable.

I think we would use one of our 2nd round picks and this 4th to move back into the 1st round.

5. A general manger told me that he expects Cleveland to trade Brady Quinn this week but he’s not sure what team he will be heading to. The prevailing feeling in the NFL is that the Browns like Mark Sanchez and have spent considerable time getting to know everything they can about him.

He actually may end up being a whole lot better than Brennan.... Could you imagine a receiving corp made up of Crabtree and Robiske as your one and two receivers.... Or, for that matter, if Edwards gets his head screwed on straight,, him and Robiske....

Could be interesting... now throw in a project like Cribbs and you got something..

Well, while I'd love a tandem of receivers like that, there's no way we'd ever consider taking a receiver with both of our first selections. The only way that happens is if we go ahead with the trades of both Edwards and Quinn. I can't see us getting 1st AND 2nd rounders for either guy, so we'd probably end up with three 1st rounders and two 2nd rounders. Robiskie would be gone before we had a chance in the third, even if we acquired a pick there.

Robiskie will almost certainly be gone by our #50, and there's a decent chance he'll be gone by 36. I agree that Edwards or no... Crabtree or no... Robiskie would be a welcome addition to our team. He fills a different role than those guys, and that's a role we don't have filled with Winslow and Jurevicious gone. That's a different need than a #1 wideout. Same as SOLB and WOLB are both needs that we have.

He's not the least bit concerned with any PR issues, nor should he be. That's straight out of the Bill Bellyache formula.

Afterall, I see how much of a PR nightmare is still brewing with the release of prodigal son Jurevicius. That lasted about two weeks.

All that matters is winning. If he moves Quinn and we're winners in two years, nobody will care except for the idiots that cared more about the player than the team, not unlike all the Couchies from five and six years ago. If he moves Quinn and can't find a QB, we won't win and people will cry. But does crying have anything to do with what goes on down at field level? No.

It's about making the best football move, and public relations don't play any role in that thought process. If it does for Mangini, he should be fired tomorrow.

I guess this week includes Saturday.

If we move Quinn before the draft, it says the team likes DA more than it does Quinn.

I doubt they would trade the QB they like the best until they know for sure that Sanchez is in the pocket on draft day.

Though I'm in favor of trading Quinn for the right price (while also being in favor of Quinn winning the starting gig, something many fans can't figure out) all this attention to Sanchez stinks like an attempt to drive up his perceived value for a trade-down.

Not necessarily.

All it really says is that Quinn had more trade value, and that they didn't view Quinn as that much better than Anderson.

In sheer terms of draft-day value, if I felt that Quinn was slightly better than Anderson (say, a value of a 3rd or 4th rounder) but was offered a 1st rounder, I'll still think Quinn was better, but I'm still going to make that trade.

If they are prepared to make DA the long term starter of the Browns after watching all the film we've seen over the past 2 years than they are idiots, and we are screwed.

If that happens as you say I'll start counting down until these guys are gone.........it shouldn't take too long..lol.

In my earlier post, it was predicated we were going to select Sanchez.(or Stafford) who would become the long term qb(in theory)....

....I still do not understand how a team whose prefered Offensive System appears to be one which favors a Ball Control Offense , which would promote sustained drives with an emphasis on running the ball and High % short to mid range passes with a focus on yards after the catch....ALL of course would favor Quinn over Anderson....Also to succeed in that or any successful Offense that QB Must have a clear # 1 WR(Edwards)....IF by Miracle both stay because the price for Quinn would be too high for teams to pay and IF the Giants decide that they will look elsewhere(Bolden , Ocho Cinco , Holt , Harrison etc).....We very well could end up with our squad intact plus we would also have driven up the value of both Quinn & Edwards heading into 2010....As for Sanchez , IF we select him than we must be prepared to trade both Quinn & Anderson for the best value we can gain and than add a veteran QB....Next , we wait and see how along it takes for Favre & Mangini to start texting about the Favre being at least the Backup QB(At first anyway ...)....I mean who better to groom your future Franchise QB than Favre.... ....That scenario Definitely would prompt us to keep Edwards and use some of our eventual picks to ungrade the OL , I would look to add new Starters at C , RG & RT....** **....Young Talent to go along with Thomas ....It's in the Trenches !....DE & OLB Must also be upgraded , so they will have to do some serious juggling to put us in a position to fill those positionsthat I mentioned(DE , OLB , C , RG & RT)....but IF we can do so I think we should be able to at least improve on our 4-12 record last season....To make such Drastic changes as have been mentioned and Not improve would be Amazing....

You first start talking about a control type offense with sustained drives and that Quinn fits that offense perfectly, and then you talk about having no better tudor than Favre for Quinn. Favre threw his share of interceptions, but he sure did have a rocket arm.

U and DnD need to Relax .. its gonna be OK .. BQ is going no where .. I have never seen one guy say the same thing on 4 or 5 seperate occasions and have so many people think its new news everytime ..

by next week at this time ... it will all be over ... BQ will be here ... and if we get what we want for DA (a 2nd rnd pick) he will be gone also .. then there will be no more nonsense by the BQ Stinks club or the DA is a Pro Bowler group ..

just wait a mere 6 more days and it will all be over ..

well Diamdawg- i think you better be hoping that Seattle drafts Sanchez, or a trade is involved at #3 or #4 so that Sanchez is off the board- i just have a sick feeling that Sanchez goes to the browns at #5 if he is there. Maybe its all smoke and mirrors, guess we'll know in 6 days.

The only way that would be true is if they traded Quinn and only drafted a project QB who couldn't even be considered a starter..
If they trade BQ and draft Sanchez it's obvious that Mangini feels he will be a solid starter.
FWIW..the Giants's seconder rounder is pick# 45 and the fourth is pick 129..
Now if thats the limit the Giants will go..then KoMan has to determine if this is the best the Browns could ever get for Edwards..
This would be the pick selections:
# 5
#36
#45
#50
#104
#129
#177

I agree...and yet I have wanted to shoot every GM for a particular draft day blunder..so my cannon is already loaded...I got a werid feeling about this draft..
Anyway I was looking at what those picks are..and something comes back to my mind..I doubt very seriously if a trade goes down.. it's leaked now..it will come draft day when the Giants are on the clock.

I honestly hope it's bait to lure another team in the mix and get a bidding war starting now..
Fact is if you announce a trade right now..any other team can plan to move around ..the Browns would have to have a targeted player(s) that they want as a particular spot..
I for one think if it goes down, it's for the Gmen's 29th and third rounder...

However just to dwell on a couple of things..the Browns may even feel that Giants first rounder isn't high enough to get several of the wideouts that will be there in the first..there are some things I'm seeing that are making me go..hmmm would they actually draft this guy or that one??

I understand that. Maybe I am not making my point clear, so I will try again using different wording.

To me, it would be stupid to trade the guy you think is your best qb because you hope to draft the guy you really want.

The stupid part being trading Quinn before we actually were on the clock and the guy we wanted was still there.

Trading Quinn to draft Sanchez doesn't work if Seattle drafts Sanchez, or trades with someone who does.

Once Sanchez is drafted by us.....if that happens at all......Quinn gets shipped in about 3 minutes.

Only if the guy you want is better than the best you have..that would be my only response .
I doubt if BQ is traded..like I said how long ago..he brings the best value to get picks, but DA is the one who needs to be traded..

Actually bigfoot...I hope Sanchez is there.

I want conclusion - if Sanchez is there and we pass on him...all know that M/K have complete confidence in BQ - to pass up those offers ( I know rumors but too much smoke there for no offer fires).

If Sanchez gets take at #4 there will be that sentiment from few who will profess that M/K didn't have the confidence and that the only reason BQ is here is cause we couldn't draft Sanchez.

I just want closure one way or another

DA? Come on seriously - we see all the interest in his services from around the NFL. Even with our posturing that he's good enough to compete for our starting QB. Even though we paid the 5 mil Roster Bonus and he's pretty cheap for a starter if that is their intentions.

here's the deal on DA, dude, Pro Bowl notwithstanding: he's immobile, his short/medium throws are absolutely terrible and he's wildly inconsistent, from one series to the next sometimes. Plus sides: quick release, great arm, good size. Minuses are bigger than the plusses IMO.
