I'm in the market for a new pair of earbuds for when I work out. I have a pair of headphones, but obviously those aren't very good in this scenario. I'm tired of my crappy ipod ones, and have decided to get a new pair. I obviously don't have much of a budget, and would prefer they be in the $15-20 range. Thanks in advance.

Which type would you recommend? I've seen several types, most of which are cheaper than $30.

I just bought these last week:

http://www.jr.com/skullcandy/pe/SKU_HH26SKC01/

I haven't ran with them yet (hopefully tomorrow if no rain), but they sound and fit really good.

The regular price is $25 on Skullcandy's website...

If you can pay a few more bucks, Skull Candy buds are great for the price.

Fit right inside your ear canal basically, creating a better sound, more bass. Got a pair for Christmas, and think they run between $25-30.

The ones I have are the Smokin' Buds. They aren't the over the ear ones, but I've never had a problem with them falling out unless I yank the cord and rip them out.

How do they sound when running or working out? I've heard they are some issues with that.

I'm no audiophile, but I've got a cheap pair from RiteAid of all places.

$10, very soft and comfortable, more than good enough sound .... I think they are made by Philips.

Think about it: You're going to be running, breathing hard, around traffic... not sitting idle and passively listening. No matter what you get, you are going to miss out on audio.

Browns is the Browns

Sound good, never had a problem. Used them jogging a few times (quit jogging tho), cutting the grass as well. What kind of issues?

Look for Acoustibuds. They are silicone adapters that slip over the buds and fit in your ear canal to keep out noise. Price is right also. I got mine from pctoolsandgadgets.com - they sell from the yahoo store.

I never heard of earbuds before I thought "earbud" was something Tyler would say while passing around a joint.

I bought a cheap Sansa mp3 player (I just don't need an iPod for the $$) and surprisingly, the earbuds that came with it, are the most comfortable of any I have had. Typically, earbuds hurt my ears after about 20-30 minutes, these I workout for an hour with no problems at all.

Amazon reviews have them ranked as a 3.5 star. People complained that they fell out too easily, the wires are too long (this probably isn't that big of an issue for me, as I'm pretty tall) and the sound gets messed up when the wires get hit by something.

I think I'm going with the skullcandy ink'd earbuds. They are cheaper and have better reviews on Amazon. Where did you get yours at? I'd prefer not to order them online.

I must be the only person on the planet that prefers the standard iPod ones (even while working out). I never liked the earbuds that go deep into my ear, they tend to hurt.

And also keep in mind, great bass and sound in a headphone can be dangerous to your ears (especially with those deep in the ear).

That's something for me to keep in mind, as I've always had hearing problems. I wore hearing aids through the third grade, but my hearing isn't any better. I really don't listen to my music very loudly though.

Circuit City

As far as the other complaints- the sound gets messed up when you hit them? Doesn't even make any sense... I mean, if you smack something in your ear, of course you'll hear a thud, same with headphones, not sure what they mean.

I've never had a problem with them falling out, either. There's 3 different ear pieces depending on how big your ear is. The only way I can see them falling out is if they either put the wrong size ear piece on, or put them in incorrectly. They aren't meant to sit outside the ear like typically buds. They go inside.

The cord is a little long, but it's sometimes better than being to short.

I got the ink'd ones today and really like them. I'm used to just sort of putting the apple ones in my ear, so having to push them in is a little different. I'm using the smallest size right now.

The problem I was talking about was when something hits the wire, you will hear an effect in your music, and this is true. Try just flicking the wire sometime. It doesn't really bother me though.

Yeah, the Skullcandy buds actually go in your ears, which is pretty cool. IMO it sounds a lot better.

This is beyond your price range, but for anyone who really likes great sound from earbuds, I have a $40 pair of Sony EBs that are incredible. They come with variable sizes for best fit. The frequencey range is extremely wide, and the bass is awesome. It is like having a subwoofer in your head. The only problem (if you can consider it so) is that they work so well, you cannot hear any background noise when the music is on, so it could be dangerous when running on the road.

What sort of "effect" do you hear if you flick the wire?

Here they are. They are actually sold for $30 here. Wish I had known that before I bought them at Walmart. I do not see the frequency range listed in the product details, but it is extremely wide.

Yeah, it has that effect simply because the earbud goes inside the ear. Doesn't bother me.
