Browns | Talking with Law
Thu, 07 May 2009 10:46:47 -0700

Rich Cimini, of the New York Daily News, reports the Cleveland Browns are talking with unrestricted free-agent CB Ty Law (Jets) about possibly playing for them this season, according to New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis.

Ty Law? Really? How old is he now? 36?

Ty Law 6 years ago? Ok, I'm onboard.

Ty Law 3 years ago, maybe a decent nickelback.

Ty Law now....

When I hear comments about an old washed up player I think of one movie quote...

DONOVAN - This looks like Jake Taylor.
BROWN - He was an Allstar in Boston, wasn't he?
DONOVAN - Yeh.
PEPPER - Wish we had him two years ago.
DONOVAN - We did.
PEPPER - Four years ago then.

Ok, so we didn't have Ty 2 years.....but it sorta fits.

Looks like Mangini realized there was an ex-Jet free agent out there.

I guess we are going to try and top Hank Poteat as worst signing of the off-season.

Im in the jets viewing area. Ty Law did ok for them on the field. He came in late as I remember and was basically thrown in. He is not as fast or as fierce as a younger corner. But he knows where to be, and when to be there. In a purely speed related foot race he will lose. But thats rarely the matchup he would have.

I would think that is exactly what they have in mind. Mangini is smart enough to know he's not a starting caliber corner anymore.

If it happens, i see no problem with it. Just another pro who knows Mangini's system.

yeah, no doubt.....and seing how we have a big gapping hole at saftey...I think he would fill in quite nicely....I wonder how much he thinks he is worth....I remember a year or so ago, he was wanting crazy money...hopefully, he has since changed his mind and is willing to sign a respectable contract......and who knows...maybe we will get a senior citizen discount..... .....

Can Tucker ? How about St Clare of a sissy? If all else fails there's always Sowells. That is if he really exists, has anybody actually seen that guy? He's not one of those mobbbed up ghost employes is he? Maybe thats appropriate. The prospect of trying to find a QB with our RG RT situation scares the life out of me. Ty Law? Just say nah.. we're rebuilding anyway.

If he does come here - don't know what to believe. But "IF"

It will be to mentor the young kids. EW, McD, Carey and Fancies...JMHO Poteat might not do it as well as Law could.

So we are gonna payroll Willie McG's replacement in effect. Thought $$$$$ was a huge knock against the Ty Mon when we didn't chase him, or not hard enough a while back. Did he get better or just older, or is an aging force like this better than what we have in the stable on his worst day?

I'd like to have him at safety. He's not a corner any more. League minimum with incentives.

If they bring him at the vet min to fight for the 4th safety spot I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Well that and I am too slow, fat, weak, and un-talented.

Pretty funny, PSmack! We gotta avoid this guy unless Willie-Mon needs replaced. For cheap money he should still cover enough ground to beat out some of our clueless secondary. Interesting if he has any wheels in the boot.
