Time to start hoping for a miracle comeback. Not likely, but if the Red Sox can do it, so can the Cavs...

I have come to the conclusion that the Cavaliers are Lebron James and 4 other pretty average type players ..... no matter who is on the court with him. This is not to say that some of the other guys on the team aren't 'good" .... or that they don't have roles .... but there really is no other elite caliber player on this team.

The Cavaliers definitely need to find another elite type player or they will continue to tear through average to good teams .... but struggle against elite type teams.

This shouldn't come as some sort of sudden revelation...who else might be considered elite on the Cavs? Having a superstar and a bunch of guys with well-defined roles who played well in those roles is what got them so far in the regular season.

And we're getting destroyed by a team with no elite players.

Another classic Cleveland choke job. Season over.

3 of the 4 games played this series, we had 8+ point leads at halftime. We only won one of them. I HATE being a Cleveland sports fan.

Best overall record in the NBA, most home wins, home court advantage, the coach of the year & the MVP.....and we're still going to choke our way through another postseason.

I really don't know what else to say.

We only beat Orlando once so far and it was on a lucky 3 from 23 feet........there's NO WAY we beat them three times in a row from here.

I......thought for a split second, that Lebron would make the difference. He would take us someplace we never went. But alas, we're Cleveland. We'll NEVER win it all (I'm not saying that for effect, I truly believe that).

I don't know if he'll resign with us next year....and right now, I don't care. I don't see how it will make a difference. I almost wish he does leave so our town doesn't infect the rest of his career.....he's too good to be Karl Malone or Dan Marino. With or without him we're a wasteland in the sports world.

Tonight....I give Cleveland a big fat

I disagree. This game was not a choke job. The officials did every single thing in their power to coddle the Magic, mainly Howard, in the last 2 minutes of regulation and in OT. Howard lowered his shoulder into Ben, pushed Delonte going for a loose ball, grabbed Andy on that final inbounds, and fouled Lebron on that three point attempt, and none of them were called. The benefit went to Orlando in every one of those situations.

I'm sick to death of Dwight Howard. He has no skills and no class.

I disagree. Officiating is bad in both directions. Cavs are getting just as many calls as Orlando.

The Cavs lost because Mo Williams disappeared once the 4th quarter began, and LeBron played the "hold the ball until the last second" offense yet again. Terrible, stagnant offense. The defense, while not stellar, was ok enough to get the win tonight ... then again, the Magic missed some wide open looks.

No elite players? Howard, Turk, and Lewis aren't elite... I would trade anybody but Lebron and Mo for one of those guys. Howard can't be guarded by anyone on out team and obviously the weakness of out "#1 defense" is defending the 3 which the Magic shoot better than anyone

no need to talk sense into this bunch adam... i have pretty much stopped posting in these cavs playoff threads.. by reading the garbage spewed in this ten page thread, it is blatently obvious that most of the people posting in this thread dont follow the nba until the playoffs begin..

All we have to do is steal game 6. I don't see us getting beat on our homecourt. I have that much faith in Lebron. Plus I've seen the rockets do it twice, and pistons once in my lifetime. The suns in 93 we're down 0-2 going on the road to LA, and came back to win 3-2. They're not done yet.

Their shooters are unbelievable...I'm trying so hard to hate this team...but I just can't. They are spanking the Cavs around in every way possible. Lebron pulled out a lucky jumper to win game#2 or we would have just been swept.

I am almost leaning towards the Magic in the finals. I can't stand the Nuggets. The words that describe how I feel towards them can't be used on this message board. The Lakers are...the Lakers...I'll always despise them.

2 of our losses are by 3 pts combined. I wouldn't call that a beating. they are better in some facets of the game, but it's not a beat down by any stretch. I give them credit. they pass it as good as any team in the league.

Sure, the point spread wasn't much...we stayed "alive". At no point in any of these 4 games did I say in the 4th quarter, "Okay, we're going to win." With Atlanta and Detroit, I did.

We just can't defend this team.

Destroyed? We blew them out in the first half of games 1 and 2.. then they came back and they pulled one out and we pulled one out.. game 3 was a 2 possession game in the final minute and this one went to OT...

If you want my opinion on the difference in this series.. .it's 3 pointers. We work 3 or 4 minutes over 8 or 9 possessions to go on a 9 point run and they undo it in 3 possessions in 45 seconds...

It's too hard to come back in this league when you can't shoot the 3...

It's not that simple as the cavs not guarding. The magic are making the right passes off the double teams, when the magic pick and roll.Or when the cavs help inside, and they kick out beating our rotating defense.

It's very frustrating to everyone because if this team could just make a few shots it could be 3-1 the other way around. I know I'm as p.o.'d as anyone and have pretty much lost hope.

3 wins in a row seems like an insurmountable task at this point, I just hope they take it one game at a time. Ugh...I'm just sick to my stomach.

Very true - I think a lot of the blame goes to the Cavs defense for this game.

There was one series where LeBron drove and kicked to a wide open Delonte and he missed a wide open 3... the Magic took the ball back down, ran a quick screen and Rashard Lewis hit a tough 3 with a hand in his face.. that's the difference in this series in a nutshell.

Make no mistake though, as great as LeBron is and as much as has been asked of him.. his turnovers down the stretch hurt tonight.. a lot.

Dude, they're done. We're Cleveland. You, me and everyone else who bleeds Cleveland blood knows it.

I KNEW it was over when Elway got under center before the Drive, when Jordan took that shot over Ehlo, when Mesa came running in from the bullpen in Game 7, when Northcutt dropped that 3rd down pass against the Steelers, I knew it the instant Boston came back in both series against our Tribe (1999 & 2007) and when Lewis just drained that three for them to go up two (even though we tied soon after, THAT was our chance to win, we wouldn't get another being on the road).

I don't type this with gloom and doom in my fingers...I type the truth. I truly believe we will always lose when it counts. The only reason I don't close my account.....is because I'm a Cleveland fan and there's always hope. But I gotta tell ya, there's almost no hope left in me. There's only so much a man can take.

I used to be a fan of OSU. After the 109th time Michigan beat John Cooper's Bucks to spoil another season, I told myself to quit and never look back. And I never did. I didn't celebrate the Bucks championship, I didn't buy a hat and I don't consider myself even a little bit of a supporter for them to this day.

I'm not saying that day will come for the Browns, Cavs and Indians.....but they sure are testing me. I don't enjoy watching sports....it's always about how I don't want this team to win, this other team to lose because they're place in the standings for Cleveland and how good our teams our. With the NHL, I just watch and enjoy. I don't care who wins or loses. I miss that with the NFL, MLB and NBA.

I would probably say the 3 ball, and us having no big man that could post-up, and draw a double team. At the very least get howard in foul trouble. That use to be Z a few years back, but his post game has all but disappeared

Destroyed?

While I disagree with Adam's crying about the refs ... the word "destroyed" isn't that far off that mark. Maybe a little strong, but you get the sense watching the games that the Magic know they are better and know they are going to win ... they execute better, they have the better players.

They are the better team and it's obvious. The Cavs keep it close because of LeBron - he's just a special freak of a player. But he has no Robin to his Batman. Watching the games, I just know the Magic are going to pull it out. They have the Cavs number.

That's going to be unpopular, but that's the way it feels to me.

Pretty much spot on with both points. We can't hit crap ... they can't miss. And Lebron looked like he was trying to get his triple double with turnovers in the 4th/overtime.

Could we just force all Gitmo prisoners to be Cleveland fans until they fess up?

I think the Magic are just playing with a tremendous amount of confidence and the Cavs are not....

Look.. if Mo, Delonte and Z are shooting anywhere near their season average in this series, the Cavs are up 3-1....

...but they ain't. Why is that?

I say the "Cleveland pressure" is on them. I won't use the "curse" word. They don't exist. However, the pressure to playing sports in this town has to be tough. The players know the history, even if it wasn't their doing.

Our teams are playing the opponent on the field/court AND Cleveland sports history.

I think the reason they are not shooting near their season averages are because of two reasons ... first, they are working their tails off on defense... the Magic are spreading the Cavs out everytime when they are on O ... guys are doubling, aren't staying home on their man ... and the Magic are making the extra pass ... and the Cavs are scrambling to recover ... this is draining on a player, and they have less energy on O. ... and this goes back to the whole matchup thing ...

I think the other reason is because the Cavs have gotten punched in the mouth so to speak and don't know how to respond ... especially Mo ... I mean he looked like a scared puppy out there to close the game ... when LeBron needed him the most to take some heat off of him ... he cowered in the corner ... he's lost and has not responded to the intensity of the Magic.

I don't think the Cavs know what hit them. I think they assumed with the best record, home court advantage, and two first round sweeps that they were going to just cake walk through this thing ... they hadn't had any adversity up until this point, and they aren't executing at the critical points in the game when they face some adversity ...

It definitely looks bad at 3-1. The only reason I still have hope and somewhat confident, is the cavs have 2 at home, and Lebron James on our side. In my mind all we have to do, is steal game 6. I just don't see us getting eliminated at home. For whatever reason, I still believe we have a great shot to win this series.

i didn't see the second half, i had a playoff game tonight. but i pretty much got the recap from a friend.

look. first of all, it ain't over. i think we win game 5. you go into that building again, put forth every single effort you have. all the guns, everything. you win, you get a winner take all in your own building. you have that going for you.

with that said, they definitely look dead in the water. but like i said, if you can't get a win on the road, you don't deserve to win a championship. and they way they have played here, they'd probably get floored in the finals.

this team has to go out and get better. get bigger. get tougher.

i'm not gonna cry in my beer, and feel sorry for myself.

i'm a cleveland fan and i'm a hell of a lot tougher than that.

the sun will rise tomorrow, and the next day.

they did play pretty crappy in game 3 after getting owned in game 2, although we matched them with a crappier game.

from the ESPN article:

Quote:

Orlando called a timeout and tried a lob play for Howard, who was ridden out under the basket by Anderson Varejao. Both players tumbled out of bounds, and although there was enough contact for the officials to call two or three fouls, there was no whistle.

Howard screamed in protest, pleading his case to anyone who would listen.

"Are you serious?" Howard said, turning to the media section. "If that was LeBron ... "

That, to me, is an absolute joke. Howard had a hold on Varejao's arm for the duration of the play. If anything, Anderson should have been shooting following a loose ball foul. Howard has been getting the benefit for this entire series, and now that he's in the spotlight he is quickly making me think of him as one of the real jerks of the league, highlighted by him calling out Van Gundy after the Boston game.

And say what you will about the Cavs' defense, but it was Rafer freaking Alston who was the difference in game 4. He is a mediocre shooter at best, and when one of their non-shooters is miraculously drilling long jumpers, it is impossible to defend that team.

This series is not over yet.

The universe still has to balance itself out for that 3-1 debacle vs the Red Sox.
