And if you do it that way you can add in some of those insane "Likely To Be Earned Bonuses" that you know he won't get. It gives us more cap room in the even of a new CBA. I'd make a verbal agreement with Dawson, and promise to take care of him once the season starts.

BE is all talk. If we're not contending mid season, trade him to the highest bidder, maybe the Jets or Giants. My sleeper pick is the Jaguars.

Went back and read it again. Yeah, that IS what it says. That does look ambiguous.

Ok, you're off the hook. This time

I wonder if kickers get those uber-human likely-to-be-earned clauses.

They'd have to say something like "Make 48-straight field goal attempts in the same year" or "Have 20 consecutive touchbacks" or "Hit two 60-yard field goals in the same game."

Personally, I think we should make it "Lead the team in special teams tackles". If he actually does it, he deserves the money.

if returners are getting back to your kicker enough to where he leads the team in tackles....i don't think anyone should get $$$ that plays on those teams

(and wouldn't that provide him a hidden incentive to not kick it off well...as those low liners lead to better returns)

diam...did Mangini name the Browns starting QB yet?

Didn't Edwards already make the pro bowl with one of these QBs delivering a pro bowl performance?

Edwards still wants out of Cleveland and I'm sure he realizes his only way out is to have a performance that makes him a valued addition to someone's team.

After last season, the only team that showed interest in BE was the Giants and they were not willing to give up much to get Edwards.

Edwards must produce...it will be interesting to see if he's all about Braylon...or if he can be a team player.

Also, let us not forget, the success of the Browns offense depends on the OFFENSIVE LINE.

pretty much just clicking.

Fact is - at least to me.

BE is a gifted WR and was rewarded once to a Pro Bowl appearance.

He had 16 TDs and only a handful were of the easy variety the rest were catches only he could make.

Can anyone forget that Sick catch on the sidelines for a TD in the Ravens game - where RAC won his first Coaches Challenge.

He was ready last year and I remember seeing him in our first Pre-Season game and thinking I have never seen him so sharp and then that sliced heel occurance. And really the start of our downfall entering the season.

But I have maintained BE is back and its a contract year giving us a Win, Win situation. We OWN him no matter what either by the RFA rules or Franchise Tag rules. He won't go anywhere unless we are fairly compensated.

As for concerns of him becoming a cancer. I never really thought he was but there are some who really dislike him and swear by it. I knew there would be no way he would be anything but a model citizen for us.

1. Cancer and these guys would take reps from him and that wouldn't help his quest.
2. Cancer and that diminishes his value for teams to make him the highest paid WR in the NFL, which will be his quest and what it would take to keep him here. (The ONLY reason I think this will be his last season as a Brown - unless its a one year thing via the Franchise Tag).

I think the move to get Robiskie and MoMas is borderline brilliant. As they are smart and very coachable but still rarely will a rookie give impact but by year two they both should be able to contribute. And don't forget the First Rounder PLUS we will get in compensation for a TWO TIME - Pro Bowler

Diam...I don't know BQ might make the catches too easy so that BE will not shine as well as he did for DA - not enough SICK CATCH attempts...lol

B-Eazy can be a team player... but he wants to win first... If the Browns don't win games.. He loses focus. I think he will have an amazing year though, and will be pro bowl bound again...

Playoffs here we come..

its a quality vs quantity thing ...

he won't have the quantity of quality catches cause there will not be the need for them ..

but he will have a much higher quantity to show he is a quality WR cause he will simply have more opportunities to actually get his mitts on the ball ..

Come on man....he hasn't named it yet, but I agree, Quinn is going to have to really flub up or Anderson is really going to have to light it up for Quinn to not start out under center game 1.

It was not that long ago that one of the QBs was linked to various trade deals on draft day....I would say that shows how much confidence Geni has in the quality of QBs he inherited.

But there were no takers so Mangini is doing the next best thing, a QB competition. The QB who can get the long ball to Braylon will have an advantage, IMO.

But, if the offensive line sucks at pass protection, Mangini may be forced to go with the QB who can run like heck to escape the rush and hope a dink and dunk passing attack will be successful.

If we are going to utilize Braylon's talents, the long ball is his the greatest threat to defenses. Once you hit the long ball it backs the defenses off and the short passing game works and the running game can be more productive.

As I see it, it depends on the ability of the offensive line to protect their QBs so they can hit the long ball. If Quinn has improved his game enough to get the ball to Edwards on deep routes, he will be the starter...if Quinn can't....Anderson "can", this we know, if he has the Oline protection.

Then there is the "political" aspect of the QB competition...how will the Browns ever know what Quinn has if he does not play. Maybe Mangini will be patient enough to give the job to Quinn just to see if can produce.

This will be kind of a throw away year for the Browns as no one expects this team to do much. It would be a great opportunity to throw a QB into the starting job to see what he's got, knowing the pressure to win will not be as intense this year.

Quinn does have the advantage but I have seen enough NFL football to know, anything can happen and nothing is written in stone. All it takes is one play, and everything can change.

That one play could be a wrong read that leads to an interception or missing a wide open Braylon Edwards on a deep pass. That one play could be an injury too, as both of our QBs found out last season.

The Browns need one of these QBs to step forward and deliver but it is not as critical this year as it will be next season. We have a learning year on our hands, Browns fans...who will learn the Mangini way...we have a season to find out....mac

And you'd be WRONG .... as USUAL ...

*LOL* .. the excuses for DA are starting all ready ... so WHEN BQ starts in week 1 it won't be because of what he did and the FACT that DA could not carry his Jock ... it will be because the OL could not block well enough for DA ...

Ya .. U mean like it did in 07 ...

U make it so simple .. and in theory your right (for a change) .. problem is U need PLAYERS with the SKILL SETS to EXECUTE the THEORIES ... as witnessed in 07 ... so ... as USUAL ... your WRONG with your ASSumptions ..

Two excuses for DA in one post .. your in mid season form ...
