Tonight marks the beginning of a new era of late night television on NBC. Leno has handed the show off to his successor Conan O'brien, and tonight, June 1st, is the first night that O'brien is officially the host.

Does anyone here plan on watching, or at least Tivo-ing this new era.

I wasn't old enough to appreciate Johnny Carson, and the switch to Leno wasn't anything to gather my attention being as young as I was. But I grew up watching Late night with Conan O'brien. I watched the show way back when it was co-hosted by Andy Richter.

I am really excited to see Conan doing The Tonight Show and it will be great to see him take over for Leno and hold down the 11:30 time slot for the next 20 years.

Anyone on here a Conan fan?

I wonder if he is still going to have Max Weinberg, or will he keep Jay's Band, or will he get someone new altogether.

And if he does get a new band, what will happen to Kevin Eubanks. I mean, I'm sure Weinberg will still make his money with Springsteen and the E. Street Band---but how is Eubanks going to eat and pay his rent w/o the Tonight Show gig.

For years I have only watched NBC's late night line-up. And I always preferred Conan over Jay.

Max is with them. Eubanks is going to Leno's 10 PM show. Andy Richter is the show's announcer too.

That will be great---Richter was hilarious when he was Conan's side-kick in the earlier years.

I'm no big Conan fan., not sure how he'll play to that time slot.. we'll see, I'll keep an open mind about it..

I liked Leno,, But Carson was the KING.. Dave can't touch him, Leno can't touch him and I doubt Conan can come close either.

I guess that's why Carson was on the air for 30 or so years.

Should be interesting.

11:30 = way too late for me. Talk about feeling old. I never got into Conan for that reason (I love my sleep).

Conan O'Brien is about as funny as getting syphillis.

and friday was my last night of watching the Tonight Show. I would rather watch paint dry while pulling out my fingernails with pliers than to watch Connan

It will be. I can see him being more Ed McMahon than John Melendez as the announcer.

I can see Conan manning the position for a long time.

Richter was funnier than his boss.
Conan is as funny as getting your foot smashed repeatedly with a hammer. That's how funny Conan is.

I could not disagree more. Conan is gold.

The fact that Jimmy Fallon is almost unwatchable to me is proof of this.

I live in this crazy alternate universe where people actually think Dave AND Conan are funny. Leno was, is, and always will be a friggin' tool. I'll always give props to Carson.

Conan was one of the master writers of The Simpsons in its prime and SNL when it had the huge peak in the late 80s/early 90s. Those deeds alone, w/out even mentioning his excelent work as a late night host, make him as funny as they get in my book.

Leno has a nice classic car collection,....

And that's it.

Was weird watching that tuft in the middle of his head change color over 17 years,....

Carson will always be the Jim Brown/Tiger/MJ of comedians.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy watching Conan, but does anyone think he's been told to tone down his act for The Tonight Show to attract more of the older viewers? I just don't see some of the older crowd liking Conan's quirky antics/humor.

Did anyone catch the last episode of The Tonight Show on Friday? Classy way for Leno to end the show.

Couldn't agree more.

I think the rerun of watching paint dry is on the learning channel at the same time anyway, should be more interesting.

I couldn't tell you... I'm usually deep asleep by that time of night.

I don't think Conan is all that funny, but I wish him well.

Give us a review sometime tomorrow!

Dave did a great Top 10 list tonight on Sonia Sotamayor. Letterman is money in the bank comedy, & the most powerful man in show business.

Yep, me too. I never thought Leno was funny and Conan....bleh.....no real opinion either way on him. I'll try to catch him at some point. He'll end up being more main stream and probably lose the little edge to him that people like.

Conan was funny, Ritcher was horribly forced, his laugh was just awkward...

I like Conan .. although I rarely get to watch him. I did watch his opening online, and thought it was extremely clever.

Just clicking

I managed to stay up and watch the entire show.. the opening with him in NYC and having to run cross country to get to LA was inventive.. not sure I"ve ever seen anyone do a skit like that. funny stuff..

Max Wienburg and the Tonight Show Band (renamed from the Max Wienburg 7) Was pretty good.. Always have been really. Max always leaves the show whenever Bruce Springsteen calls anyway...

Andy Richter (sp) wasn't nearly as funny as I remember him from the old Late Night with Conan O'Brian. The early days. But it's been a while since he was on a show with Conan so it's only fair to give him some time to grow into the role.

I was kinda hoping that Richter would be sitting on the couch next to Conan ala the old Ec McMahon days on the Carson show.. but no such luck.. Maybe that will come,, Dunno.

Some of the little skits were OK,, like the one of him doing the Univeral studios tour.. seemed forced but what the heck.. not horrible.

I'm not a Pearl Jam fan so that was just so so I guess.

All in all, not a horrible first try.. But there wasn't anything there to make me wanna stay up tonight to watch.. I'll catch him from time to time.. Hope it gets better..

I like Conan and Dave as late night comedy hosts. Jay is a puppet, and the new arrivals are lame.

Last night, Conan seemed a little out of place. It will take him some time to get that comfort he had while hosting his Late Night show. In the monologue, he clapped his hands together way too much - within and after each sentence he made. Very noticeable, and I've never seen that out of him. Think it was nerves.

Regardless, Conan is a brilliant comedian, and I'm confident he'll fill into this spot for a long time.

I was just gonna post that!

I got chills watching the intro. The graphics work was well done by NBC...the set is beautiful and massive.

The best part is Conan seems to still be Conan, we'll see how the rest of this week pans out though.

i dot ubderstand all this talk about Conan VS Leno VS Letterman VS Jimmy Fallon VS Carson Daly when in reality Craig Ferguson is 10x funnier than any of them.
