Steelers QB Roethlisberger limps off practice field with knee issue

Associated Press

PITTSBURGH -- Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was limping because of left knee discomfort during an optional team practice Wednesday, but he didn't appear to be injured.

Roethlisberger, who has led the Steelers to two Super Bowl victories in the last four seasons, had some problem walking when he left the team's training complex, but his knee wasn't bandaged.

Roethlisberger left the field during the Steelers' morning practice after the problem developed, and he was examined along the sideline by team trainer John Norwig. Roethlisberger apparently didn't need medical attention, and he began stretching his leg before practice ended.

Neither Roethlisberger nor Steelers coach Mike Tomlin discussed the quarterback's problem. Tomlin also said there wouldn't be an update on Roethlisberger's status.

Roethlisberger is scheduled to play golf Friday in an event at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, N.Y., the site of this month's U.S. Open.

Since he can't walk, maybe they should give him a bike to ride around practice on.

Watch out for oncoming traffic, Ben! Those windshields are awfully hard.

I can make up a bunch of stories on a message board too if I want. Doesn't make them true.

Ok ok, fine. I believe you. Hehe.

But the fact of the matter is, I can tell you plenty of things that I have heard about Brady Quinn. I can tell you that I found out from friend of a friend. Still, it doesn't make it true.

I dont want to sound like a jerk who roots for injuries, but when it comes to the steelers I will and refuse to feel bad about it.

Sounds like pretty much a non-story. I have no reason to believe that he won't be ready for the regular season. Plus, I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to beat the Steelers when they're at full strength so:

A. There's no excuses
B. It would build huge team confidence
C. Just to get that damn monkey off our backs

Nothing to feel bad about, IMO.
I know this sounds awful, but if Roethlisberger or Ray Lewis suffered season-ending knee injuries and it helped our chances of winning the division, I'd be perfectly happy with it and I think many on here would feel the same way.

I wouldn't want to see their careers end to injury – although it wouldn't break my heart especially in Ray Ray's case, but a nice trip to IR for 2009 for Ben & Ray? It wouldn't be devastating to me.

I always hear people talking about beating a team at full strength. It doesn't matter as long as we beat them. How many times were we at full strength? Except for the 2007 season, probably never because we've had horrible runs of injuries.

They could bring in a bunch of replacements and I could care less as long as we beat them. It's still the Steelers.

That's really sad... Look, I really hate the Browns,Ravens and Patriots but I would never root for injuries to players on any of these teams. I realize we are only fans, but cheering for injuries just isn't right. (ducking out of the way from the expected flames)

I could care less if a Steeler fan makes excuses if we beat them,...I've never heard one of them giving us a free pass due to injuries.

As far as Ben,....could be nothing but it's not too far fetched to think that the beatings he's suffered over the years may finally be catching up to him.

If they are truly a superior team, they should beat us no matter what.

The fact of the matter is that I want him at 100% against us so that WE'RE the ones who force him off the field limping.

.....in a 28-10 loss...Romo didn't even miss a snap either

Not sure what that has to do with a non-story about BenRoth limping off an OTA field in June....

Okay.. Let me break down my thought process for you...

The guy that I quoted mentioned something about him wanting the Browns to get to Big Ben and make him limp off the field...

When I read that... I just remembered that our Browns did get one QB in Tony Romo and made him get stitches...

Damn...

Nobody said anything about wins and losses...

My thoughts exactly. I hate people talking about beating them at "full strength."

We're never at full strength.

Besides, Ben is fine. He's just a drama queen. He probably is completely fine with no ill effects that will come from this.
