Since the finals are out of reach for Cavs fans lets start a thread for the teams that are playing in the finals. After the Lakers blew out the Magic in game 1, do you still feel the Eastern Conference is stronger than the Western Conference?

Can Howard play against a strong front line as the Lakers have? Would the matchup have been better if Garnett had been healthy with the Celtics?

Being that Phil Jackson is 48-0 after winning the 1st game of a play off series, do you feel this series is over?

Just a few questions I have for true Basketball fans. I congratulate the Cavs on a good season and hope that Lebron can get the help he needs because it is obvious that 1 against 5 doesn't work.

GO LAKERS

Just wait till next season, I have heard that for over 40 years!

Just a hunch but people might take you a bit more seriously if you didn't try to rub things in so much.

Dude, had the Cavs made the finals you would be running around with your Cavs underwear draped over your head.

by your logic, the conference strength is only indicative from the Finals (which are only 1 game deep so far)....so that means the Eastern Conference was stronger than the Western Conference last year (I do not believe that...but by your logic)

Any one who has followed the NBA at all knows that the Western Conference has been the strongest Conference over the last decade. There were even Cavs fans who questioned if there round 1 and round 2 apponents were NBA playoff caliber teams.

When you can comeback and tell me that Detroit and Atlanta deserved to be in the playoffs, then you have an argument. Until then bye bye

Lakers fan, huh? Well, I can't stand Kobe Bryant and always root against the Lakers. Otherwise, could care less one way or another about them.

I will say that I think Kobe has put together 3 straight games of the best basketball I've ever seen from him. I've always said that he's one of the Top 3 players in the league yet overrated at the same time with all the comparisons to MJ. Kobe is an amazing scorer and pretty average at everything else. And I think the career 45%-46% fg% is pretty poor for a guy with his skill set. But I had some MJ flashbacks the other night in Game 1 of the Finals. It was the only time I've ever really seen him on par with Jordan. Efficient (until he got overzealous at the end), real assists, scored in the flow of the game ... just all around great, great performance.

He is one of the best of all-time, but I can't stand the guy. Nothing would make me happier than to see him never get another ring again. Come on Magic... pull a rabbit out of your hat.

As far as Kobe goes its obvious he is one of the best players in the NBA. No need to argue.

As far as being a Laker fan, it goes back to my youth. As I watched Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Gail Goodrich win titles with the Lakers then later I watched Abdul Jabbar, Magic Johnson, James Worthy win titles. As all those years went by while I was living in Ohio the Cavs were called in local circles CADAVERS.

Then we moved into the Shaq, Kobe era and as the rings piled up I have been sold on the greatest NBA Basketball team to ever walk the earth.

Can you blame me?

Atlanta deserved to be in the playoffs....maybe not the Atlanta team that the Cavs faced with all their injuries...but they were a pretty good team this year.

WC has been stronger in recent years...this was the first year in a long time that the EC had more elite teams though.

The EC had more teams up top....the WC had more above average teams...the EC had more average teams...and the WC had more horrid teams.

Pretty reasonable question.....i would have to say the EAST was stronger this year....but the west was a lot deeper...if that makes sense? the west had lot of good teams...but the east had few great teams and then ok teams....

LAKERS i would say are the strongest team in the west..they are so deep on the bench it makes me sick...(in a good way ) other teams in the west were still pretty good...until u got to seed 6,7,8...so i would say they were deeper..

CAVS and ORLANDO were pretty darn good this year....celtics almost beat orlando w/o KG...i would say they were pretty decent..and were great with KG..but then it was sort of a toss up....

GOOOOOOOOOO LAKERSSSSSSSS

Pau Gasol went for a dunk and Dwight Howard put his hand THROUGH the rim and blocked the shot. No whistle...ridiculous.

Seems that Orlando is missing open jump shots- something they didn't do against us. They were drilling their 3's in our series.

yah....it's like we said all along....they will live by the 3 and die by the 3....i was really shocked the game went into over time...i thought it might be close...but i didn't think it would be that close in the 4th quarter...

Lakers have a chance to win it in 5 games IMO....maybe 4...depends on how game 3 goes...

Tough loss for the Magic and their fans. Lakers tightened up the half court D late in the game and good shots were extremely hard to come by. Lee could have ended it with a bit more touch. Magic had a golden opportunity to really turn this thing around.

Game 3 is key. I can really see this going 2-2. I think the Magic proved to themselves that they could perform on this stage. That should be a confidence booster while heading home. Lots of questionable calls tonight, but I think more in favor of the Lakers. Pietrus should have never fouled out. I noticed that Bryant tends to struggle a bit with guys his own size that are above average defenders. Battier ... now Pietrus. He still gets his, but his shooting percentage goes way down. Then the bogus calls didn't help. Still the Magic had it in their grasp.

Game 3 is going to be huge. Come on Magic ... shock the world. The image of Kobe hoisting the trophy is going to make me nauseous.

I know, I know ... better get the Pepto ready.

The Lakers have all but wrapped this series up.

We go to Orlando for 3 games and really only have to win 1 of 3. And the fact that 92% of teams that go up 2 games to none win the finals, plays strong in our favor.

L.A. all the way!

Personally I just wish that someone would teach Pau Gasol how to shave his neckbeard.

That is one incredibly ugly looking guy.

So Atlanta deserved to be in, my question what about Phoenix who had a much better record and anyone who knows anything about basketball has a much better team.

Phoenix would have beat Detroit & Atlanta in a 7 game series.

When you have been an NBA fan for the same team for 40+ years, that is not considered a bandwagon fan.

Posters like you are homers & I feel bad for people who solely are Cleveland team fans because you never get to experience the thrill & excitement of a championship.

Me being a Lakers fan for over 40 years, has brought me the thrill of victory while you suffer the agony of defeat year after year.

I can play this game as well Atlanta was the 4-seed, so even if you throw in PHX, Atlanta still made the playoffs.

Also, I must not know anything about basketball because I believe a healthy Atlanta would have beaten a healthy Phoenix in a 7-game series this past year

this is truely laughable.....
1) ATL would NEVER play PHX....
why? because that would mean they would be in the NBA FINALS....
2) ATL overachieved...and Phx underachieved....there is no clear cut answer unless u compare their games from this year...and i'm too lazy to do that...so i'm going to conclude by saying both of u are crazy....

WEST DEEPER
EAST STRONGER...

case closed.

You should never play that card on a fellow Browns fan, IMO.

I'm trying to tell you there is a reason to be more than just a fan of Cleveland sports. As a Browns fan I can only take so much. As a Lakers fan I have a release. A chance to stand up and yell hell yes!

If you and others do not understand then all I have to say is enjoy the feel of not quite getting there. At least with the many years of being a Lakers fan I have gotten to experiance CHAMPIONSHIPS!

Someday before I pass on I hope to experiance the same feeling with the Browns but I'm not holding my breath.

And Laker fans wonder why everyone hates them.

Like I said before, it's becoming quite a year for evil empire teams with obnoxious front-runner fan-bases. We can probably pencil in a Yankees win this fall.

haha....well, since it's June and there's nothing else going on in sports....

you mention Grant Hill and Shaq....but don't mention Josh Smith or Al Horford? I would take the young, fresh legs on the way up more than a couple guys who are playing out the string on their elustrious careers.

also, the NBA is all about matchups...Nash would kill Bibby on offense, but ATL is actually the team better built to run with their young, athletic bigs and wings as opposed to PHX team of older guys (and PHX is back to their running ways). Especially at the end of a season when those older legs were already a little weary.

it would be a fun series and PHX would be the favorite, no doubt. I just feel like they would have plenty of things they could take advantage of and that they would pull the upset.

finally, an aside about the PHX during the debacle of Kerr's tenure....

basically, Kerr destroyed PHX (well, he finished the job that Sarver started by forcing all those #1 picks to be traded away). they were built to run with a great running coach. despite that, Kerr decided he wanted to slow things up, but he had a running team in place, so he traded away guys to make a slower more traditional team. then, management realized they made more money when they were a fun team to watch....so, they went back to running....however, now a lot of their pieces that made everything work are on different teams and they have a bunch of aging guys in their place.

oh, and just to complete the sequence....

I looked it up and PHX won both games in the final minute this past season. ATL had no answer for Shaq or Barbosa and PHX had no answer for Marvin or Josh.

The biggest statistical anomaly was Joe Johnson shooting for 4/21 and 5/20 in those games. If Richardson really gives him that kind of trouble, then it would be a tougher series for ATL than I thought (not sure if that was the case or he was missing shots...).

then again...Orlando beat the Lakers both times in the regular season in close games, so you can't always go off that especially when they are close games. I'll stick to my analysis and give ATL the slight edge still.
