He should have inducted himself into the Hall of Shame!

You know what I love about NFL wide receivers? They never seem to realize how wide-receivery they are.

The latest example of hilariously foolish narcissism comes to us via Andre Rison in an interview with the AJC. Andre is apparently not too thrilled about having to wait for his Hall of Fame invitation, and he had this to say when the paper asked him about his legacy:

"Best receiver to ever play the game. I can’t show my highlights because I don’t own NFL Films, but all my coaches in college, in high school, in junior college, they all told me I could be the best. But they must’ve lied because that title was already given to Jerry Rice. Just because you have stats doesn’t mean you’re the best. Can’t nobody tell me that Andre Reed isn’t better than Jerry Rice. I’m seeing cornerbacks on the 75th anniversary team that I used to demolish. But I’m coming out with my own hall of fame."

I'll take delusions of grandeur for $200, Alex.

"Was" might be the right word. She passed away in 2002.

Yep.. in Honduras. Swerved to miss a truck, rolled her car and died from head injuries after being thrown from the vehicle

I will now write Rison's speech for him: (Rison stolls up to podium and complains about the size of his statue not being big enough and begins to speak)

"First of all, I'd like to thank myself, I couldn't have done it without me. All the teams I played for should be grateful I graced them with my presence. Who cares if we never won a championship and I have no meaningful records? It is what you think of yourself that matters and I think enough of myself to fill this entire Hall of Fame which is now complete with me deciding to induct myself!!

(Fans boo and pelt stage with trash)

I know that people are all asking what m claims to greatness are. So I never made a big catch in big game, so I had teams over estimate and over pay for my limited talent and productivity. Yes I know that my greatest claim to fame is that my former Girfriend burned my crib down to the ground, and had Deion Sanders actually been able to throw a punch I would have gotten K.O'ed in that slap fight. If it wasn't for fact he and by that I mean the man who kept me out with his "meaningful" matters like stats such as yards and Touchdowns, or even, something important like Superbowl rings and MVP awards, had hate me as much as I love me, I would take my place as the greatest wide out of all time, thank you for coming and be sure to buy my merchandise on the way out."

(Rison leaves stage as fans throw objects and shout obscenities at him)

Announcer: Thank you Mr. Rison, coming up next the head of our class, the greatest Quarterback of all time, Mr. Ryan Leaf!!!

Oh, yeah... he was great!
(-At being 'second rate'...)
To belive him- I'd have to smoke crack.

Rison won a Super Bowl championship with the Green Bay Packers in 1996, scoring the first points of the game on a 54-yard touchdown catch. Rison was selected to the Pro Bowl five times, from 1990–1993 and once again in 1997.

After the 1994 season, Rison signed a lucrative free agent contract with Cleveland, where he was expected to bring his flashy playing style and become the featured receiving threat for the Browns, who had made the playoffs the year before. But Rison's one year stay with the Browns (the team he grew up rooting for) was a tremendous disappointment, full of frustration.[1] The receiver, who had been named to the Pro Bowl in four of his previous six seasons, had career lows in receptions (47), yards (701), touchdowns (3), receptions per game (2.9), and yards per game (43.8).

Rison also developed a feud with the Cleveland fans, who were angered over the announcement that the team would be relocating to Baltimore and tired of his incredibly disappointing play. After an especially disappointing home loss to the Packers, Rison, who had been booed by the fans throughout the game, lashed out, stating, "We didn't make the [censor] move. So, for all the booers, [censor] you too. I'll be glad when we get to Baltimore, if that's the case. We don't have any home-field advantage. I've never been booed at home. Baltimore's our home. Baltimore, here we come."[2]
