Those are some pretty harsh rankings. I don't agree with alot of them.

They changed their rating system and so there are going to be few players in the 80's and even 90's. The good thing is that since so many players are rated rather low, if they kept the training camp sort of play from the last Madden, ratings will shoot up because the points you make doing the drills will coint for more in franchise mode You should see the 49ers and other teams player ratings - just follow the "Team" link I provided and select the other teams.

I'm happy with the player ratings at this point. I think Rogers should be more aroun 95-96 though.

I will be thoroughly editing the players on this years team based upon my own perception.

What's the point?
Just play the franchise mode and the rankings will go up naturally. I always found that WAY more satisfying.

And as someone pointed out, the rankings this year have been drastically changed where each stat can now range anywhere from 39 to 99 and the average level of a player is about 70 to make the superstars stand out.

I personally like the rankings and think they're pretty dead on since we have very few players who are above average and only 3(Rogers, Thomas and Steinbach) who are elite.

Plus, what's good is that every team has extremely low ratings at backup positions. So against say the Colts or so, if Manning goes down that team goes way down. After a season of playing and also working on their skills (through drills) a player like Quinn who is rated a 71 could easily get to the low 80's in a season. If you work on the drills every game he could get to the high 70's alone. - That is if they left the drills in the game.

Bengals: 67

Okay, that will only make my online destruction of Cowboys, Colts, Pats, Chargers, Giant, and the ever so rare Cleveland fan, that much more pleasing..

Madden is a game that if you know the game of football, you can find a way to beat almost anyone...

LOL a lot of guys I play hate that I'm so good at the audibles too. I can bluff them out of a defense more often than not and get them in a super vulnerable position to attack..If they wont move, I like to move things around just to make them feel unsure about what they want to do...

Its my favorite game of all time

ESPN has been releasing the teams every day.

Here is their link:

Compare the ratings that I provided and the Official ratings being released by ESPN. They are exactly the same.

I edit the players, a lot of the players not just on the browns, to what I think they should be. They're always too harsh on rookies, and too easy on vets. I dont like the fact that 13 year vets that are 35 yrs old are in the 90s, because they're that good in reality. Public perception has too much influence in they're rankings IMO. ESPN 2K5 is still the best football created, so bummed that EA has the stranglehold on the licensing.

Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns offense comes into the 2009 season having not scored an offensive touchdown since week 11 of the 2008 season. So it's safe to say there are some weak spots that need to be addressed when you take the Browns over in franchise mode. It starts at QB where Brady Quinn (71 OVR) and Derek Anderson (70 OVR/95 THP) are in a fight for the starting position. The winner of this position battle will do a lot of handing off to Jamal Lewis (85 OVR/97 TRK/83 SPD) and throwing to Braylon Edwards (86 OVR/90SPD/99 JMP)... the one legitimate gamebreaker the Browns offense does posses. No more Kellen Winslow at TE (Robert Royal starting now) and Donte Stallworth is gone at WR (legal issues). One bright spot is the 11th ranked offensive line unit, with Pro Bowler Joe Thomas (97 OVR) and Eric Steinbach (93 OVR) dominating the left side of the line. First Round pick Alex Mack is someone to build around and/or trade for in franchise mode, he is a beast at center. On defense, DT Shaun Rogers (95 OVR/98 POWER MOVE) is a monster and you cannot run straight at this guy. Along with 3-4 defensive ends Kenyon Coleman (79 OVR) and Corey Williams (81 OVR), the Browns Defensive Line is the strength of the team right now as they have the 8th best DL unit in football. The secondary on the other hand is a pretty big weakness heading into 2009. The Browns have the 30th ranked Safety unit and the 23rd ranked CB unit in the NFL. Eric Wright (79 OVR) is the best CB and has a bright future. At middle linebacker, D'Qwell Jackson (86 OVR/97 TAK) is a tackling machine and will be counted on for an even bigger season after his 150+ tackle season last year. Joshua Cribbs (89 SPD/98 RETURN/94 ELUSIVE) is a weapon every time he touches the ball on special teams, try and kick away from him whenever possible.

ok, looks like I've found my "build this team into a monster" for dynasty mode. Either that or I could stick with Oakland

Wonder if Josh is gonna use this ranking when it comes to renew his contract.
