I saw this topic come up in the 2K7 thread and was wondering those of you who play on-line what do you consider "cheese"?

The other day Im online cracking this kids head and he sends me a message that Im cheesey. So I thought to myself

what is cheese?

running the same play multiple times?
playing with atlanta and running around with vick? <---- by the way is very easy to stop if you know how to scheme
grinding the clock out in the third qtr?
all-out blitzes every play?
the deep out corner routes? <---- which are so effective people cant stop them UNLESS THET KNOW WHICH SCHEME TO PLAY

give me an example of what you guys think is cheese

I dont mind cheesers, I just dont want to play them. People can play however they want, I just prefer a more style game. Granted its still a video game and its not going to be totally realistic, I try to keep it closer to realistic than to cheese.

The biggest complaint I have is running the same play over and over and over and abusing exploits.

Cheesers will say "if you cant stop I will keep running it" and thats fine, I just dont want to play that style.

For example in NBA 2k7, they will run with your PG full court just slapping the steal button over and over, or cherry picking and throwing long full court passes the whole game.

Its just not fun, id rather lose playing a realistic style than win playing that cheesy style.

I guess its all a matter of opinion on whats cheesing or not.

Some guys will call other player cheesers just because they get one steal or throw one fast break pass, and i dont agree with that, im ok with it happening, just not over and over and over.

I dont mind guys that grind out the clock, i think if they take the entire play clock up, then that is kinda cheese, but if they are calling running plays thats fine.

When I play, if i have the lead in the 4th quarter, ill change my game plan and try to take a little time off the clock, I wont use the whole play clock, but just a few extra seconds.

I try to keep realistic relative to what we are playing.

I agree I play the pro-style myself. I will never play with Vick or call the same play 2 or 3 times in a row.. I will run the deep outy corners though but its a legit play, just drop your sfaetys back and play cover 2, you can stop it, most people cant understand that though.... I really try not to be cheesy, at one point (on the PC version) i was ranked in the mid 50's but I got sick of the plug pullers.....it seems that they fixed that with 360 and the DNF rate

Yeah, I mean, no matter what everyone could be guilty of cheesing at one point, everyone has bread and butter plays, and there is nothing wrong with that. I guess its how you use them and the integrity you bring to the game.

Well, I have not played online for about 3 years, but here is what I found to be cheesy.

Players who will not play with ANY other team other than the Eagles or Falcons. You will know em when you see em. Usually they bolt right for the Eagles or Falcons as soon as you get to the team selection screen. If you get into an online tournament they will not play unless they get one of those two teams. Not to say that EVERYONE who plays with those two teams is cheesy, but there are many who are.

When players get said team, they run 4 or 5 wide on every play, and if you are in Man coverage, they simply run for big gains with their scrambling QB. If you play Zone, they time the deep ball to hit between zones, and generally get big gain after big gain. Repeat this formula every play = cheese to me.

Then there are the formation freaks. These are the players who (with practice) can QUICKLY reorder a running formation (AKA Goal Line etc.) so that the WR is in the TE spot, another WR in the FB spot, and another WR in the RB spot. You see they are running Goal Line formation so you put in either a base 4-3 or your own goal line D to counter. Then they audible to a 4 WR set and throw it over your head. If you counter with nickle or dime, they run it up the gut. Do that even 50% of the time and it = cheese to me.

Any player who comes out in the quarter formation and does lots of shifting before the snap (esp on the D line) and low and behold manages a sack instantly after the snap of the ball knows how to "Nano Blitz". To me that is another exploitation of the game = cheese to me.

There are other examples that escape me right now.

IMO cheese is not cheating so much as it is just poor taste.

Now couple that with the players who sit on the pause screen for long periods of time hoping you will get fed up and quit, and all the other methods of cheating just to gain a win on some online version of a game, and it's really not worth the time.

For the record I won just as many as I lost when I played online, I just got tired of player after player leaning on those strategies. So I just went back to playing the computer.

After all, it's just a game.

i can't stand when guys do hurry up every play...

i can understand maybe throwing it in once in a while, or having to do it because your down big late in the game, but otherwise, it's just lame...

i don't get why people do stuff like that, what's the fun in doing stuff like that?

i play these sports games because they're realistic...
