MJ was my very first concert, ever! Best concert I've ever seen...I hope he finds the peace in death he never had in life. RIP.

BTW, if you follow the link to the story about Jeff Goldblum, it says his reported death was a hoax and he's still alive.

The Goldblum story is a hoax. At least that's what is being reported.

That's what I am reading as well.

I also saw a hit saying Harrison Ford also is dead.

I think people are taking things a bit too far with the celebrity deaths today.

I wonder how some people are feeling right now..

Like Michael Jordan... Michael jackson was the ONLY artist to get another legend like #23 in his video...

Steven Spielberg....

like... anyone who just had the chance to interact w/ him at some point... It's a time you have to remember for the rest of your life...

Diana Ross...

Chris Tucker... (He's probably crying his heart out)

It always upsets me when people I grew up with pass away. I was never a MJ fan, but his influence on pop culture was everywhere back then. So it is part of my youth. And now it makes me really sad he is gone. WAY too young.

Never interacted with him, BUT I did actually see him in person.

Of all places, he was in the magic shop of the New York, New York in Vegas. They had it closed off, but I was on the outside of it. Snapped a few pics, but didn't turn out well since I had to kind of hold the camera up and couldn't tell where I was shooting.

Yep, I'm gonna chime in again with not exactly politics but Michael lost his life and here we have people arguing about pedo this and pedo that.

People just like to argue their views on this board anymore.
Christ, the man is dead. Pay your respects if you wish but quit the whining about your views on things all the time.

This is not a thread about your views on things. Pay respect to the man. If you find him weird fine. I found him weird in the latter part of his life but don't turn yet another thread into your I wanna cry about what I feel is wrong stuff.

It started out right like most threads do, but here we go again. Get a life people.

Wow, that was all directed at me?

No.
Just sick of the getting your point across mentality that people seem to have on here anymore. Always wanting to argue when it's a subject that doesn't call for arguing. Just post your thoughts on his death. Surprised, saddened. Just like the other 2/3's of this board.

One of his best songs... The man had a huge heart and wanted to help those that he could...

This is the ONE song that use to get me watery eyed...

You can say that. I found him a little weird but I won't go into a argument about it. But it also included that I liked him and commented about his death.

I wasn't trying to pry a discussion about his "weirdness" out of people. It was my truthful thoughts about him and I stayed on topic and said my piece. But some people want to drag it out and get you into a argument and fight about their views which I won't do because this thread isn't what this is all about.

Ah, well then, it that case, I'm sorry the child molester died. For his sake, here on earth, I'm glad he had the money to pay off his victims. That way he didn't get bad press.

To his family I'll say this: I'm sorry your brother/son died. Having a sibling or son die is not something I have had to deal with yet. My best to the family.

I hope mj thought just a little bit ahead and was able to take care of any kids he may have had.

Holy cow, that's really something.

Say what you will about the guy's personal life, but he was absolutely revolutionary in his music. I mean, think about Thriller and Bad when they first came out.

RIP Michael.

I've always kind of believed that Michael Jackson never had a childhood...he was world famous at what, 7? He began the grind of show business in the most formative of years...not to mention his home life wasn't peachy...he continued on to be the most widely recognized musicians since the Beatles.

I don't know how much that factored into his sexual habits, but I think all of the young kids and the roller coasters and such was his chase to retrieve a non-existant childhood.

Pretty much is what I thought about him.

He didn't have a childhood as me and you or most kids are accustomed to. He seemed to grow up through his life trying to get it back- like going backwards.

What's crazy is that I actually feel pretty sad about this. I was still pretty young when Thriller came out, but my sisters had the record (the actual record). I do remember what a sensation it was.

Then, when Bad came out, it was like a tidal wave.

Really crazy, boy.

This kind of stuff makes me want to vomit.

Big damn deal - so he wasn't poor growing up. So he got on stage and had millions hooting and hollering for him. He took every cent he could get, didn't he?

There are millions of people in this country that grew up poor and made something of themselves and didn't have mental problems.

There are millions of people in this country that grew up wealthy and don't have mental problems.

Jackson had mental problems and it had nothing to do with his growing up - did some of his idiocy come from his parents/dad? Maybe. But he also had the means to have that taken care of/ treated.

Let's face it - he was a victim of his success and the thought that "I can't be stopped or topped".

He was a great musician for a time. Then he let his fame and fortune go to his head.

And that's what I choose to focus on. I don't get too worked up about the personal lives of celebrities. They're all messed up in the head, to put it plainly.

I respect musicians a lot for the music they put out. Michael Jackson put out arguably some of the most popular stuff on the planet and in the history of music. It's tough to take away from that.

The entertainment industry lost an absolute icon today.

Damn it, what was that song....

EDIT- Torture is the song I'm thinking of..... wasn't that a brother?

I believe the freak to be a pedophile,so I refuse to pay respects to him. So once again I say good riddance that now we have one less pedophile in this world.

I also can not believe that people in this thread have made excuses for pedophiles. Their wires are crossed? that is the biggest load of crap I have heard in a long time. Ok maybe it is his wires being crossed that gave him the desire to molest little kids but he made a choice to act on it.

I believe that all can make peace with god for their actions and I hope for MJs sake he has done so. I am not going to be all weepy eyed though that a child molestor is gone just because he was a great performer and a huge pop star.

I have the records too... They come in a protective slip w/ the lyrics to each song on them. I use to spend hours listening and learning the lyrics to his songs...

I'm gonna have to agree with you. No matter what wires are crossed, when you molest a kid.....you don't deserve sympathy. In fact, that's why those guys get worse treatment in prison. Compared to the other criminals, they are 100 times worse.

Was he a pedophile? I can't be 100% sure.....but I'd bet he was. And it's hard for me to get to a place where I feel sadness for him (I'm not glad he died....just can't feel sorry). As a guy that tries to find the good in everything, it's hard for me to feel that way today. I'm sorry for saying so.

I've often said MJ was the Fred Astaire of our generation as far as dancing and singing.

Very talented but kooky.

I wonder who's watching the monkey or is he dead too?

Would $20 million shut you up? It did in this case.

He had strong follow-up albums with 1987's "Bad" and 1991's "Dangerous," but his career began to collapse in 1993 after he was accused of molesting a boy who often stayed at his home. The singer denied any wrongdoing, reached a settlement with the boy's family, reported to be $20 million, and criminal charges were never filed.

http://omg.yahoo.com/news/michael-jackson-king-of-pop-dead-at-50/24346?nc

The dude was a great entertainer, no doubt. Problem is, his money allowed him to have his way with kids. He was sick, from a sexual standpoint, and from a mental standpoint. Let's not celebrate his good points without pointing out his bad points.

Had he been a neighbor of mine?

Had he abused my daughter? Look out. Luckily I'm just joe average - all I do is work to pay taxes. He didn't like little girls, just young boys. Had he abused my son, I would've killed the sob myself and stuck his $20 million up his dead ass.

For anyone to celebrate his life blows me away.

Was he ever found GUILTY in the court of law for child molestation?

I am not sure whether or not he was---and if he wasn't---then you can't, with 100% certainty, call him a pedophile.

Some things that I am certain of.........

He was the KING of pop.

He was a HUGE influence on pretty much every pop star since.

He didn't really have a childhood.

He loved kids, and acted as though he himself was still a child.

He put himself in many situations with children that left him with serious legal problems. Whether he molested anyone--with 100% certainty---no one really knows but Michael Jackson---and possibly the victim.

I think it is quite foul the way people are branding him a child molester---when in fact, to my knowledge, there is no real truth beyond the accusations of a confused young boy or young boys.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With all this said, I can say Rest in Peace. And his family deserves the peace and respect that everyone deserves upon death. The man was an icon, he was one of the biggest and most celebrated and storied artists of the past 20 or 30 years.

There is definitely a void left with his passing, and to close:

I am 100 % sure that Michael Jackson brought more joy, influenced more people, and contributed more to the world than any of you bashing him on this internet message board. His life will be celebrated through his music and vision for much much longer than any of you will be walking the earth. So just know that he did a lot more with his life than many of us, and I am pretty sure that he would have been respectful of our lives had he learned of our passing---and I believe that we at least owe him that

Great, at least there seem to be more people on here wishing him a respectful RIP in peace than branding him a sick molester. Pretty much everything that needs to be said can be read in Derden's post.

Good words, best reply so far in my book.

WebMD

"The Kidscape Charity for Children's Safety, in London, interviewed 91 pedophiles about their methods for choosing child victims. The researchers found that pedophiles are skilled at charming children into their trust, plying them with gifts, and taking them on fun outings. They "often target single-parent families where mothers might be especially grateful for help with looking after the children."

Sound familiar? Why on earth would someone put themself in these situations again and again if they've already gotten in trouble once? Pedophiles can't control themselves and therefore repeatedly molest. If someone that lived down the street from me exhibited these behaviors, I'd be very concerned....as should any responsible parent.

If it looks like a duck.....

Yet the parents put their children in that situation ..... $$$

Pedophiles are often the people you LEAST expect. They are skilled at fitting in with society and not attracting suspicion. Some abuse can go undetected for years simply because they are the last person you would expect of such an appalling act. They are not typically an eccentric person but more likely to be your neighbours someone that doesnt attract attention.
