and ya know, i think it's safe to say jj is a wild card at this point in time too. can this guy take the next step and become a true rotation player? every time he was on the floor last year, outside of garbage time, i felt like mike brown was just throwing him out there to get a spark.
the guy needs to find his role, you can see the talent there, but he's gotta put the work in. that would be such a huge boost if he can become a rotation big.
my view on this:
Ferry knows that there was no starting stretch-PF available in free agency this year. The only way we're going to get the quality of 4 that we really need is through a trade.
As this season wears on, we'll be in much stronger position for a trade because teams are going to be more and more likely to shed cap if they aren't competitive. It's even possible that stars like Bosh/Amare/David West become available.
Our rotation is so deep right now, that we are completely set for the season. Shaq (25), Z(25), AV(25) and Hickson/Jackson/LBJ (21) will completely fill up our 4/5 rotation. We want to see what these kids can do, and we're so set for the season that we can give them time to try.
Come February though, we'll either see some people shipped out for a real 4, or hopefully, Hickson/Jackson will start fitting in so well that they'll take that spot. If they perform moderately well, that makes them much more valuable in a trade situation come february.

great points. and when you factor in the economy, the cavs could possibly pull in a big fish.
i agree about the stretch 4. i''d like to have one, but the only quality guy available in FA was villanueva and we had no shot at him because he went for the biggest payday.
i dunno if we see bosh dealt, toronto made a pretty big move getting turkoglu, they're gonna be in the thick of things, probably fight for the 4th and last home spot in the playoffs. you may as well pencil in the cavs, celts, and magic for 1-3, but that 4th is wide open, toronto, miami. we'll see how detroit does with their team as well. i think the bulls struggle without gordon, even though letting him go was the right thing to do.
that week in february is gonna be nuts. the media is gonna put pressure on ferry as if they HAVE to do something because lbj is leaving, and we'll just have to see how we come out of the deadline.

Pistons are going to be the 4th seed next year IMO. Miami, Atlanta and Chicago the next three. Toronto is in enigma, they could end up anywhere.

Toronto is too thin depth-wise to be competitive, IMO.

I'm not even anticipating the Bosh type deal. What I'm generally pointing at, is that there is no reason to rush into getting a stretch 4, we can wait until the trade deadline, and we'll almost certainly get more for our money then. It could be a Jamison, Marvin Williams, Nocioni type as well.

That's what I like about him. He takes it to the hole. I've seen quite a bit of Moon living hear in Ontario and I think he would bring alot to our team and would surely be a fan favorite.
