Didn't see this posted:

Winslow has successful surgery
01.30.2007
Cleveland Browns TE Kellen Winslow underwent a right knee arthroscopy today at the Cleveland Clinic to remove scar tissue and repair some cartilage damage.

Winslow has been released and is expected to make a full recovery. The surgery was performed by Dr. Anthony Miniaci, head team physician and executive director of Cleveland Clinic Sports Health.

The surgery was neither unexpected nor a setback in the career of the young tight end. He had mentioned plans to have the surgery throughout the 2006 season. He frequently complained of soreness in the knee throughout the latter portions of the year.

Winslow tied a Browns single-season record with 89 receptions in '06.

Good for him. I hope he can come back even healthier next year. We need him badly (and to grow up more - he's more mature than year 1 and 2 - now get better than year 3).

I thought he was going to have the surgery done in Miami.... about as far as from the Cleveland Clinic as he could get.

It is not time to be so negative here..............Winslow needs to be healthy next season...................I love his passion for the game.........and his attitude could improve much if he is feeling better!

Granted it is amazing if he gets a successful surgery in Cleveland..........let's hope that the Clinic has cleaned up its act and Winslow will be much closer to 100% this upcoming season!

He has been a beast when he has been about 70%...................imagine if he is 95%!

I like Winslow in Brown and Orange..............he is one of our weapons.....that is a fact!

GO BROWNS!

Pretty minor - shouldn't set him back at all... and he should feel a hell of a lot better now.

I like the guy, a lot. I think he's gotten a bad wrap by the media and some fans who have taken his words and twisted them or taken them out of context. He has matured this past couple years a great deal and in every presser I've seen him give, he has been humble, soft spoken and direct. He took a lot of heat for saying his 90% is better than most TE's 100%, yet he went out and proved on the field that it was basically true. I saw the presser he gave when he said it and what he was saying was that even though he wasn't 100% healthy he could go out and compete at a very high level. Had he said that, no one would've given it a 2nd thought, but he said what he said and it turned into a media tennis ball. Oh well, while those who were offended spent time bad mouthing him, I was watching him have a great year. He was one of the few actual bright spots of this past season. I was a little surprised he decided to have his surgery at CC since it had been reported that he had gone elsewhere for a consult, but I'm glad it went okay and can't wait to see him on the field again this year.

Actually, he got a bad 'wrap' for crashing his motorcycle while stunt-riding without a license, depriving our team of his services for an entire year, nearly killing himself in the process, and (by his own admission) potentially reducing the level of his physicial abilities permenantly.

That said, it's been great to see him back on the field this year and he has played extremely well.

Cool video, again he shows poise and is direct. I like how he stands by Charlie. He mentioned Shaffer has some knee health issues, I didn't know this and hadn't heard anything about it all year... hm. It was interesting how he pointed at the need to protect Charlie, defended Shaffer, and never pointed any fingers. As you said, he is becoming a leader for the team.

I know I loved every minute of this video. The host straight up dogs Charlie and Winslow just says I disagree. I said the same thing about Shaffer when I heard that, I had no idea he was fighting knee problems. I was also wondering that since the players realize they need to protect the QB hopfully Savage realizes it as well.

I was refering to this past season. The accident was what it was, a mistake made by a cocky young man. If he can learn and grow from it, I guess I can move on too. Some can't, oh well, that's how it goes, but I hope he's here a long time and I see no reason to dislike him or continually make him pay for mistakes he has clearly learned from.

That was a very good interview. It's good to see Kellen in a positive light.

Just Clickin, I hope he has a speedy and full recovery. We will need him at as close to 100% as he can be from this point on. Shaffer with a knee problem, huh? Maybe, just maybe, this has been keeping him from doing a better job than he has on the OL. Hope so and I hope he gets it fixed and can perform better, though I don't think he'll ever be a great OL.

Get Well KW....

KW the player deserves a thumbs up. But until he learns to treat Cleveland Browns fans with some respect, he is never going to get that respect handed back to him.

j/c, this is a general reply to people that want kw2 out. both on this board and outside around cleveland.

i'll bet it all that he is a positive leader in that lockeroom. the voice that other teams have in ray lewis, chad johnson, zach thomas, ect, he's not the TO side. you the fan may not like him, but im sure the players rally around him.

he's the browns' mvp and most likely the best thing to happen to us since '99 and people want to get rid of him.

The Cleveland Clinic is one of the finest hostpitals in the world, they saved my life, and I do not like when people incinuate that they are a [censored] poor hospital.

Don't think people are saying that the Clinic is a bad hospital, just with the rash of staph infections coming from there to Browns players, I think some (myself included) were surprised that he opted to go there.

Given his relationship with Dr. Miniacci after his other surgeries and the way K2 glowed about the guy in interviews leading up to last preseason, I have no doubts about why he had it there. He simply trusts the hell out of that Dr.

The staph problem, as has been reiterated endlessly on here and elsewhere, is not limited to the Cleveland Clinic. It is a growing nationwide problem with ALL medical facilities and seems to be more prevalent in athletes. It is NOT the Clinic's fault, it is just all our limited perspective allows us to see.

Browns is the Browns

Just curious on what you mean by this? What has he done to the fans? During training camp I was able to get his autograph, he even made a little small talk with me about his new tattoo when I asked him about it.

Thanks for the link. KW is a stud. I see great things from him next season.

Maybe, just maybe, we have paid our dues on the injury front. If you look at the playoff teams this year most of them were only missing a starter here or there.

I just watched the video and I was pretty impressed with Kellen. He's very well spoken and talks about TEAM. I liked his response to the leadership question. I think people give him a hard time about when he said he was a soldier when he was in college. What he said wasn't really that bad other than the timing of it. I think if he has another season like he did this past one he will make the Pro Bowl. It's funny that both of Butch Davis top draft picks in his last draft were two of our best players this past season.

He got my attention as soon as he started catching the ball. Now if he takes that attitude to his blocking, he'll be the Complete Package. I have no doubt the knee held him back this year. Tight ends still need to block. Everyone can talk all about how they're morphing into super-size wide receivers but in reality they still need to be a lineman at heart.

Let him run his mouth. As long as his body can cash the checks his mouth is writing he's got my support. He didn't beg off because it hurt. He didn't make excuses because it hurt. Gee, he must be a football player or something.

J.

Lol..I think I will pass. I am just happy OSU won that game. I can respect your opinion of not liking Winslow. He's acted immature in the past. He's a gifted athlete whose always been on top. He grew up the son of an Hall of Famer so life for him has been pretty easy compared to most. But he's young and I believe his motorcycle accident humbled him a bit. I'm just happy he doesn't act like Braylon Edwards.
