I have told a few people this already, but I am really going to try to make it to Az for the National Championship game! I was wondering if anyone else was going to head out and if so where you going? Going to the game? See any reasonable deals out there? I am thinking about flying out the dayof and flying back the day after, one day hotel to keep the cost low, and partying in Tempe vs Glendale b/c from what I heard Tempe is sweet! Unless you can go to the stadium to watch the game outside, I don't know. I have never been to Az but I think the 2 cities are kinda close. Shoot, I'll sleep in a friggin tent for all I care, I just want to go! <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

We're going. I have been planning this one for awhile. I already have the tickets paid for and the frequent flier miles covering air fare. We also have my wife's cousin to stay with out there. Only cost was the tickets <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I live about 10 miles from Sun Devil Stadium, the new place in Glendale is about 25 miles further down the pike on the west side of Phoenix. Certainly there is nothing around the new place yet that compares to the party atmosphere of Tempe's Mill Avenue, it is pretty much limited to tailgating at the new stadium (retractable roof, roll-in field).

If you don't mind me asking, what was the ballpark cost on those?

I'll be out there. My father-in-law is taking me and his 2 sons to the game as Christmas gifts. He has to get the tickets, but he told me to request off the days for it. I hope it all works out.

That's a good question since I haven't seen them yet <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> My brother in law is the one that got them. My wife gave him $600 for the pair. I don't know if there was a "service charge" or not. I'll know more when I get them <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> They will be much more expensive than my tickets to the Michigan game, though. My father-in-law just called. $2625 a piece. That's ticket, hotel, transportation.

Lotta dough. He's thinking it over right now, so I'll know today whether or not we're going. It's a $500 game ticket, the rest is airfare and lodging.

Assuming you fly in on the 7th, stay until the 9th, I'm seeing flights with 2 stops on United for $374, 1 stop from $415-424 (flying CLE to Phoenix). I can't imagine that a hotel would be the remaining ~$1700 for 2 nights?

I don't see me getting a game ticket, but I have to be there. I found some airfare from $300 with a stop at O'Hare (booo) but thats still OK. I still like flying to Vegas and driving there, hit some slots, the bunny ranch, lol <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Our tickets were $500. Pretty low compared to what I've seen and heard for others. We're sitting in the top corner endzone. Not the greatest, but I'll be there. Not bad for $500. (Sounds funny saying that)

How did ya'll get tix so cheap? Buy them early?

I guess, my father-in-law had his travel agent ready to start looking before the game was even played, so she was prepared. So I don't know when she actually bought them, but they called me yesterday morning and had them already.

The cheapest ticket i found on sidestep.com was 352 frm columbus to AZ - phoenix. and it was 192 if u go to vegas! lol thats like 3-4 hours away i think...

Yeah I am pretty lucky. I just called a few travel agents and the prices I am finding online aren't much better than theirs. Some hotels out there are almost $200 a night <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
Anyone know how far scottsdale is from Tempe/Glendale/PHX?
I asked about flying out of Akron or C-Bus and it is more expensive, esp Columbus.

how much are you paying for flights?

i am flying out the 6th from minneapolis and coming back the 10th for about 260. Just wondering

I am paying around $425 if I left on Sunday, cheaper if I left at 6am the day of. I am still not sure.
