this is really strange,, it's dated today, but it's mostly talking about something that happened during Mini camp in June..

wierd

Cleveland Browns list Braylon Edwards with non-football injury
by Tony Grossi/Plain Dealer Reporter Tuesday July 28, 2009, 5:47 PM
CLEVELAND -- The Browns announced they have put wide receiver Braylon Edwards on the "active/non-football injury" list.

Edwards sat out the team's mandatory minicamp in June with an unspecified injury. At the time, Edwards refused to discuss the injury because coach Eric Mangini does not want players discussing their injuries.

It is believed that Edwards was asked to report to training camp early because of his injury. And since Edwards did not report, the team placed his name on the "reserve/did not report" list on Monday.

The distinction would subject Edwards to a fine up to $17,000 a day.

On Tuesday, the Browns transferred Edwards to the active/non-football injury list, which would remove the threat of a fine. The club declined to say what the injury was.

Also played on the active/non-football injury list was rookie cornerback Coye Francies.

Offensive lineman Marlon Davis apparently quit the team and was put on the reserve/left squad list.

Coye Francis on the injury list as well,,,,,

Who is Marlon Davis?

If it happened during mini camp, it would be a football injury, unless you are simply talking about that time frame.

actually peen, I'm just referring to the article.. If I read it correctly, it's saying that he was expected to show up early this week and didn't. again, if I'm reading that right.

You are reading it right.

I am talking about the comment the paragraph before where it detailed Edwards sitting out of mini camp with an unspecified injury, and then you saying it was something that happened during mini camp.

I wanted to clarify what you meant by during, and pointing out if the injury was football related, he couldn't be placed on a non-football injury list.

everything i read suggests that, because he was injured before, he was told to report to camp with the rookies to make up for lost time (same as what was asked of brandon marshall with the broncos). he didn't show up so he was placed on the no-show list but now he's here.

My guess is they're trying to trade him and don't want his foot to get stepped on or something. But that's just wild speculation.

Well, Mangini is tight lipped with this type of stuff. It could be nothing. He may be out there Saturday making one handed grabs.

Or drops.

Depends on which Braylon shows up.

Once they get Robo signed BE will be traded. They had to do something with BE until Robo is signed.

Robiskie's stock went up. If this isn't trade jockeying, if he did in fact screw up again, arrogantly refused reporting deadline, etc. , then I am all honked off. Shut up, suit up, and play. Or go.
My question is based on nothing other than previous reports concerning JJ: Is it possible this is another infection issue? Would that condition result in this type of status stuff? Not sure what would be going on, but this is ceretainly odd at least, mayhap phony, and is another episode in Berea BizarroWorld. BE is the mayor.

It's possible, but we're not really a team with so much depth that we have the luxury to start positioning ourselves now to put guys on the Practice Squad.

There's some other stuff at the end of the article I didn't include because it's more about MoMass signing.

Braylon Edwards fails Browns physical; Mohamed Massaquoi signs contract: Browns Insider
by Tony Grossi/Plain Dealer Reporter

Braylon Edwards did not take part in contact drills during the spring and summer minicamps for the Browns. On Tuesday, Edwards reportedly failed his training camp physical with the team with an unspecified injury.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Receiver Braylon Edwards was a day late in reporting to Browns camp and then failed the team's physical exam, NFL sources confirmed Tuesday.

Because Edwards missed practice time at the team's mandatory minicamp in June with an undisclosed injury, he was notified by coach Eric Mangini to report to training camp on Monday -- four days earlier than non-injured veterans.

When Edwards did not show up, the Browns placed him on the "reserve/did not report" list. Edwards could be fined as much as $17,000 for reporting one day late. Edwards arrived on Tuesday and after failing his physical was transferred to the "active/non-football injury" list.

Neal Gulkis, Browns director of public relations, declined to say whether the team would fine Edwards for missing his reporting date. Gulkis said, "Fines are a private team matter."

The team has refused to disclose the injury that sidelined Edwards in June. One source said that Edwards hurt his ankle playing basketball.

At the time, Edwards said, "I'm physically fine for the most part. Coach Mangini is taking precaution, so I'm just enjoying my time right now, doing some things on the side and following coach's orders."

Edwards also missed four sessions of organized team activities the week prior to minicamp.

He'll have a miraculous recovery as soon as he's traded.

I'd love to seem him on the team and playing like it's a contract year. For some reason I have doubts about that.

Marlon Davis was the host of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom that aired in the 1970's. I'm not surprised that at his age he found being a Pro OLinemen too much.

Edwards isnt being traded and he will be back in action soon enough. There is always a player or two that comes in with an injury before TC. Basketball, jet skis, volleyball it gets a couple every year before camp this isnt even news worthy to be honest.

Just clicking

where in the heck is all this trade talk coming from all of a sudden.. I mean, wouldn't it be counter productive to say a guy is either injured (any kind of injury, football or non football related) or a trouble maker... Wouldn't that kinda kill getting a good deal for him. and why now not during the spring when the rumors were hot and heavy?

I guess I'm confused by all this talk..

Oh,, so no valid reason, just supposition on the part of posters here. Ok, I get it. No problem then

It just doesn't make sense to me at this moment in time.. which, basically means,,, you should bet on him being traded within the week

There is something going on here.

Cloak and dagger stuff. Kind of useless to speculate but something is foul.

Injury, discipline issues, whatever.

Hope he is clear to practice first day. Even though I have serious issues with Edwards he is a legit playmaker.

Our receiver corps is very shallow hence drafting 2 guys in the second round and bringing in a bunch of FA's.

We would be in serious trouble without Edwards and having to rely on the rookies and the guys we are bringing to camp.

I really dislike this type of stuff.

From the OBR...

As Lane Adkins reported last night, Braylon Edwards injury doesn’t look to be a big deal, and the team’s lack of communication on injuries is already helping to up the blood pressure of fans.

Adam Schefter and Tony Grossi are both reporting similar stories today to what we were talking about last night, with the notion that Edwards as a minor ankle problem tied to playing basketball. Both are very good reporters, and take each as being independent confirmation of the things we’ve been saying here.

Schefter said via Twitter: “Browns fans, relax. I’m told Braylon has an akle injury and he will be just fine.” OBR subscribers were already there, Adam, but thanks, anyway.

There are winners and there are losers.

If you have a team of winners you can absorb a loser, if he's a great talent.

If you're a team with marginal talent a loser hangs around your neck like a yolk.

Will you still say that if he has an 80 catch, 1300 yard, 15 TD season?

See that's the way I feel about Braylon Edwards. I hope that this season he performs well, the CBA gets extended (so we can use our franchise tag on edwards) and we have him for two more years.

Last year was a fluke of a season, and the coaching staff didn't make things any better. Edwards never got into a rhythem nor did the whole offense. He missed most of training camp, like DA and Jamal.

I really do think that Braylon will be much better this year. He is a pretty boy prima donna receiver, but most of them seem to be that way nowdays. But while he has his downfalls, he is the best receiver we have and commands the defense's attention. he is also a willing and great blocker and is very competitive.

I do believe that better performance out of him and our team will make everyone happy and Braylon will continue to be here for at least a couple years, whether he likes it or not. That goes for you too i guess.

The guy lightly sprained his ankle playing basketball. I fail to see how or why anyone could pile on BE for this......nevermind.
