In a 7 on 7 drill Mike Adams intercepted a DA pass. On his next throw he hit Syndric Steptoe after getting Brandon Mcdonald to bite on a pump fake.
Just more evidence that DA has Killer instinct and is trying to win, Just more evidence he is the better QB.
Yet Quinn gets all the favortism, but Is there any accountablilty for Quinn not making plays, and not having a killer instinct?
The games count, in like 40 days! And injury season starts in about 20.
i.e. during the Bears pre-season game last year the Browns had 3 injuries on one play, so there is no time for the unprepared who lack killer instinct.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

[quote/]I didn't make up anything, Roda tweeted it on Tuesday. Hell, the fact that he was right that Quinn and the former Jets were in early says something. I do know that DA did arrive sometime during the week but I stand by the report that Quinn was there from day one.
First of all Roda is a D bag Jim Rome wanna be. Second he is a Steeler fan. So I wouldnt exactly preach is criticisms as gospel.
Also, Quinn was not there on day one he was there a week before day one. Day one was Sat August 1st for vets. DA was there 4 days before day one, so quit parroting a idiot like Roda because it is making you appear to be the idiot.

i like DA too but i wouldn't go as far as to say that DA is the better qb because he threw an int and then a td. it appears the int was miscommunication so they can iron that out but the reason why i prefer DA over quinn is an attitude idea; the killer instinct you talk about. i like the idea that our football players impose our will on the team which is why i want a reasonably agressive qb who has the mentality that he will score on the defense instead of a qb who dumps the ball off because it's what the other team gives him; something the other team will give every time. i did like the reports saying that DA is loose this time and even reading from him, he isn't mentally tallying his ints this time. he's just going to throw and have fun.
if DA were to become our starter, the biggest difference this year is i think our defense will be disciplined enough to do their part. a DA int will not be as harsh as previous years when we only played a bend don't break (read: take all the yards you want) defense. if DA is posting 2-3 tds to 1 int in a game, i'd take it. imo, much better than something along the lines of 0.5-1 td to 0 int in a game.

DA's choice to throw long over outlet passes, is just as bad as Quinn taking the short safe pass. What kills me about this whole arguement, is that in every other post about the QB's, it is brought up that Quinn hasn't had a chance to show what he can do. Yet all the DA pimps act as if it is fact that he will never throw long. Anderson's completion percentage is horrible. All those bragging on him going for the kill with a long ball also leave out the fact that you end up with 3rd and long constantly due to him not being able to complete a check down. Sure when he or any other "gunslinger" fire a long bomb and complete it it looks great, but his over all stats show a low percentage of completions, which leads to long yardage needed for a first. Now , bring up Quinn's completion average, but remember that was in three games, two with a bad finger. Not enough plays to make a judgement either way if you ask me. But I'm sure it will be used to prop up Anderson, by those who worship him.

Harrison blew him up! Not just blocked him. I sense the bias against Harrison in this statement. The "he can't block" mantra used by many to justify why RAC never played him. The guy has woked his butt off, and him blowing up a LB is just more proff of it.

yeah for sure, 'zone.... we don't want any major injuries. Can't wait until we get some reports from today's session... yesterday I bought a new Browns hat for Day 1 of TC. Gonna wear it again today in a while when I head out. There's finally a damn store in this little town that has NFL stuff in it.

Well, I guess you could say that, but I'm not going to say that a 5'9" 205 HB is going to blow up a 6'1" 250 LB'er without bad technique from the linebacker.
On the other hand, I've heard all great things about Harrison so far, which makes me very happy.
you had a good run Hank.

Ummm, just out of curiosity... but did you actually SEE this happen or are you extrapolating from the reports posted above?
The reason I ask is because absolutely NOWHERE on here is there any such report of Harrison "blowing up" Bell. Vickers "blew him up", but the wording used for Harrison was simply that he "defeated" Bell. That can hardly be construed as "blowing him up".
Just saying... keep a little perspective, don't run away with wording on reports unless you saw it yourself.
Either way, it was one Day... both players have a LOT more practices to shake things out.

I did see this in the, "Update on Cribbs Situation", thread (4th page)... "One drill had the linebackers going on-on-one with the running backs. Jerome Harrison made an impression by blasting second-year linebacker Beau Bell. Bell is 6-1, 250 pounds. Harrison is 5-9, 205." It means nothing though. First day of training camp. The same article says that there was the hardest hitting camp since Marty was coach 20 years ago. Bell may have even been tentative about "blasting" his running back in a practice situation. He may not be next time. Oh NO!!!!! Somebody threw an interception!!! Yikes! Mack got pushed back by Rogers!! DA threw 2 TD's and Quinn none?!!?? None of that stuff means anything. Nothing at all. Passes are going to be forced in practice whereas in a game that ball may not have even been thrown to that particular receiver. Result: interception. So what? Quinn hasn't thrown a TD yet, so we may as well cut/trade him while he still has some value. Well, he did toss a nice one into the endzone but Robiskie let it bounce off his hands. May as well get rid of him too! Linebackers getting knocked around by running backs...will it ever end??! It all means nothing. What does mean something is that they are hitting hard. Hitting like that may take some getting used to for players who've never done that in practice situations. What does mean something is players are running laps for making mental mistakes. Accountability is the key here. What does mean something is training camp has started and football is back on the schedule of everyday events! It's been a long time coming. It won't be over now until the last game is played. I'm pumped for that. But the tidbits from camp, (although I love to hear each and every one of them), are not major indicators of anything this early. The preseason games will show us if the players have been paying attention and are getting on the same page. For now though the ball has just started rolling, (No, not because BE dropped it ), but because training camp has begun and it's all football from here on out.

link Cleveland Browns RapidReports By Marty Gitlin Email a question to Marty Gitlin Aug 2 2009 | 2:33:01 pm Browns coaches were hoping LG Eric Steinbach would arrive a bit heavier than the 270 pounds he played at last season. "He came in a little stouter," coach Eric Mangini said. Steinbach has dabbled at tackle in practices, but Mangini said it was only to give him that experience. Aug 2 2009 | 2:30:34 pm Browns coach Eric Mangini has been impressed with veteran WR Mike Furrey. "He's a smart player and he has a good feel for different coverages, but man and zone," he said. "And he has a savvy that I like." Aug 2 2009 | 2:28:31 pm Rookie DB Don Carey, a sixth-round draft pick of the Browns, will not practice today. He has an undisclosed injury. Aug 2 2009 | 2:26:36 pm Browns free agent RT Floyd Womack is practicing with the first team. Veteran Ryan Tucker is also a possibility there. Aug 2 2009 | 2:09:56 pm The Browns worked on their two-minute drill to open practice. Aug 2 2009 | 2:08:59 pm Buddy Ryan, architect of the famed "46" Bears defense of the 1980s, is here. Son Rob Ryan is the Browns defensive coordinator.

Browns' Rogers limited by unspecified injury BEREA, Ohio (AP) -- Browns Pro Bowl nose tackle Shaun Rogers was limited during practice on Sunday with an unspecified injury. Rogers, who is coming off a dominant first season with Cleveland, was in full uniform but only rode a stationary bike and did other conditioning work while the Browns went through their second day of training camp. Rogers pedaled alongside wide receiver Braylon Edwards, who has not yet been medically cleared with an unknown injury. Rogers had 81 tackles and 41/2 sacks last season. He played seven seasons with Detroit before being traded to Cleveland in 2008. On Saturday, Rogers seemed to favor his right ankle during the evening practice session. At one point, he sat down on the sideline and could be heard complaining about his cleats. Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved. He was getting taped up last night on his (I believe) right ankle, but because he got up, didn't limp, and jumped back into practice, I assumed it was just a new tape job.
Probably nothing. Hopefully.

Steinbach says he put on ‘a good 15 to 20 pounds’
Aug 2nd, 2009 @ 1:26 pm by Steve Doerschuk
Look for a lot of reporting on Eric Steinbach the next day or two. Steinbach caught some eyes in yesterday’s late practice when he took some reps at left tackle. You may recall that he came out of Iowa billed as a great guard candidate who could play left tackle if needed. If anything happens to Joe Thomas, chances are Steinbach would slide one spot over, and the Browns would tap their depth to rearrange the rest of the line. We had a nice chat with Steinbach yesterday. Naturally, his weight came up. It’s pretty clear that Eric Mangini thought Steinbach got way too light as the 2008 season rolled along. Steinbach lost weight during the season. He not only gained back the weight in the offseason, but he bulked up. For the first time in his career, he will go through a season weighing more than 300 pounds, it appears. Wew asked Steinbach if he minded sharing what the scales have said lately as he weighs in each day. He minded, in a good-natured way, saying: “Don’t worry, I’m up there. I’ve put on 15 to 20 pounds, and that’s a plus.” He called it “a good 15 to 20 pounds” because he worked out hard while bulking up, then didn’t seem to lose mobility or speed based on a conditioning test he passed the other day. Steinbach bears no ill will toward the reports that suggested he might be on the way out of a job under a new regime. “I completely see where a new coaching staff is coming from,” he said. “No matter who you are, you’ve got to prove yourself. “These guys haven’t been with me six or seven years. When a new coaching staff comes in, they need to see who the best five are. They need to see what group has worked best together. “You’ve got to re-prove yourself to the new staff and let ‘em know you’re one of the best five.”

just clicking, king. Quote:
Offense goes an extra mile Zac Jackson, Staff Writer 08.02.2009 When the offense got a little sloppy Sunday afternoon, Eric Mangini stopped practice.
He'd seen too many low shotgun snaps and false start penalties during a short period of time during an 11-on-11 session. So when Hank Fraley's low snap forced Brett Ratliff to go to the ground and pick up the ball, Mangini didn't make Fraley run a lap like Alex Mack, Isaac Sowells and Kurt Quarterman had done in the preceding few minutes.
He sent the entire offense -- even the players watching from the sideline -- on a lap.
And the defense rather enjoyed it. Mike Adams was smiling and patting his offensive teammates on the back as they passed, and Corey Ivy was offering high-fives while asking Rex Hadnot to "pick it up a bit."
"It's all fun," Adams said. "I was just letting those guys know I was having fun while they were gasping for a little air."
Giving a lap for players called for penalties is something Mangini said he's been doing since he was a head coach in Australia in the early 1990's. He's been having Browns players run laps since the spring minicamps, but Sunday was the first for the entire group.
"Coach expects perfection," rookie receiver Mohammed Massaquoi said. "He does a good job of letting us know what he expects from us everyday and we have to strive to reach that."
THROWING IT AROUND: Both Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson threw the ball with plenty of zip Sunday -- and both often targeted Lance Leggett and Joshua Cribbs.
Cribbs rebounded from a couple early drops to catch plenty of passes from Quinn in 7-on-7 and team drills. Cribbs posted up in front of Ivy for a catch at the goal line and made one of the day's highlight plays when he toed the back line to catch another well-thrown ball from Quinn. Leggett was often targeted on deep balls but made one of the day's best catches on a slant from Quinn in the 7-on-7.
Practice ended with the offense in a situation starting inside its own 25, down three points, with 2:30 on the clock. Quinn operated the first group, initially keeping the drive alive with a fourth-down throw to Brian Robiskie, then moving over the 50-yard line on a throw to Mike Furrey with 1:25 on the clock.
But Quinn threw two incompletions, was ruled sacked on third down when Kamerion Wimbley beat Ryan Tucker off the edge, and on fourth down he threw behind Leggett.
Anderson and the second group started with a pass interference call on Rod Hood, who got tangled with Paul Hubbard, before Anderson threw four straight completions to Martin Rucker over the middle. The offense moved inside the defense's 25-yard line with just under 25 seconds when Anderson hit Cribbs on a quick slant and Cribbs got away from the defense for a practice-ending touchdown.
IN AND OUT: Don Carey didn't practice Sunday after leaving Saturday's practice with an injury. Another rookie defensive back, Coye Francies, returned to practice; he had been placed on the reserve-non-football injury list earlier in the week. Shaun Rogers was in full uniform but didn't go through any team drills. He spent some time on the exercise bike on an adjacent practice field.
WHAT'S AHEAD: The Browns will hold open to the public two-a-day sessions on Monday and Wednesday, with the morning practice at 8:45 and the afternoon session at 5:45. Tuesday's practice is not open to the public.

Well ... actually, for whatever it's worth, DA has 3 TDs to Quinn's 0. And it really ain't worth much at this point.

Aha. Carry on then. I would caution that Ben Gay and Jerome Harrison, Steve Sanders, and some other WR whose name escapes me now were also great in the first days of training camp. I think that DA has far more upside than Quinn .... but I am perfectly content to let them battle it out and may the best man (in the long run) win ...... and hopefully our team will as well.

But Quinn threw two incompletions, was ruled sacked on third down when Kamerion Wimbley beat Ryan Tucker off the edge, and on fourth down he threw behind Leggett.
who's out of their normal position because we NEVER move wimbley around.

My camp analysis for the day:
-- Our d-line looks put together. Kenyon Coleman is ripped. Shaun Smith is fat as always.
-- Steinbach spent the day with the 2nd team, which I don't get. He doesn't look much bigger.
-- David Veikune looks like a beast. In every way.
-- Hall doesn't look to have gained any weight.
-- Quinn sucked. DA sucked slightly less.
-- After getting off the bike, Rogers was asked, "Did you practice today?" To which he responded, "I still got my check."
-- MoMass spent time with the first time. Robo was the #1 on 2nd team.
-- Wimbley had a nice move on the pass rush.
-- Tucker played some right tackle.
-- The whole offense ran and Hank commented while signing autographs, "I guess we weren't playing well. But I sure was tired afterward."
-- MoMass dropped an easy long ball which Quinn had placed perfectly. He tried to catch it with his body.
Can't think of anything else right now. I'll try to post an update tomorrow after I attend both practices.

I expect more from a scout. Come on man, I could have wrote that. Tomorrow's report needs to be better.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...
