Whose getting the game?
Anyone play the demo yet? what were your thoughts?
I've checked out the demo and it felt like a cross between Madden and NFL 2K5. I've always liked Maddens gameplay better but with 2K5 I felt the presentation was much nicer. The franchise mode this season will also have a ESPN style Hilight show both at Halftime and Postgame similiar to that of 2K5. I'm really looking foward to this years Madden. Should be the best one in a long time.

I played the demo yesterday. Not bad. I'm glad the two teams were NYG and Dallas (and not Pittsburgh and Arizona).
I'm still not liking the collision detection / gang tackling. The Dallas RB was fighting off a tackle from my DE when I plow into the action dead on target....my safety bounced off the RB and he got an additional 30 yards.
Outside of that little issue, I was impressed. The players looked good and the gameplay seemed fluid. The made mention that the speed was lowered to give more a realistic feel.
I didn't try any running plays. The demo only gives you four 1-minute quarters. Maybe I'll focus on running tonight, if I remember.
I think I'm selling Skate 2 and MLB '09 The Show to buy either Madden or NCAA (or something else - GTA IV).
Anyone else play the demo?

i played the demo and liked it. i saw a LOT of polish added to the game. the realism, the environment, the transition to playing and then to a "tv mode" camera made the whole thing look awesome. i think the adjustments to game speed, the new parameters added to different positions, will force us to change tactics to more realistic plays. gone are the days where you can send stallworth down the field and have DA just lob a pass downfield (aside from the fact that you probably can't play stallworth anyways). one thing i noticed is it's easier for the computer to sack you. it was an issue brought up in one of the video documentaries by the madden developers. it was a by-product of them trying to make a real "pocket" for the qb so they added the qb evasion stuff to the right analog stick but the pressures and sacks by the qb is pretty crazy on higher levels. i hope that gets scaled a bit. that said, i can't wait. btw, if you're getting it for sure, might as well preorder from some places. amazon, for example, has it for $56.99 shipped with no tax and when they ship it, they'll email you a $10 gift certificate code, making the game basically $46.99. doesn't hurt to save $13 + tax. then people can buy themselves a comforting six-pack when i win that online franchise thing that we're doing

j/c i thought someone here could appreciate this deal if you sign up for sports illustrated, you get free copy of madden 10. so 28 issues, madden 10, and some video documentary for $49. only thing is it auto-renews next year so you'll need to remember to cancel https://subs.timeinc.net/SI/si_madden09....equestid=138955

agreed. i preordered from amazon. $56.99 shipped with a $10 gc code coming after shipping, making the game $47 plus it's guaranteed to get here by release date and from past history, there is the possibility of it getting here before that day!
can't wait for madden. i like ncaa but madden trumps it in so many ways, imo. i'll be up for online play on the 360.

Wow, that's a great deal especially since Madden will be $60 by itself for PS3. I guess I won't be waiting any longer for a Cleveland team to win a title before I order SI...

Crap, and I just cancelled my subscription also!
Oh well, screw it, I'll just buy the game at the midnight release.
I don't know if this had already been mention or not but...Does anyone completely love that the demo has a slow feel to it? How it feels more realistic and how it actually feels like a person is making the running movements and not a speed robot.
Find what you love and let it kill you.

I still have to try the demo, but I'm going to wait to hear what people think before I decide if I want to buy it or not. Last year's version (on 360) was supposed to be the best yet, but I didn't like it and went back to 2006 on PS2. I'd rather not waste $60 again.

I played the demo again last night.....it's growing on me for sure. I missed a chipshot FG in overtime due to heavy wind. Good fun game.
I'm upset that Madden doesn't have the ability to control only one player on defense from a POV like NCAA 2010 has....hitting R3 before the snap. I really liked that feature in the NCAA demo. Maybe it has it but it's not in the demo.

i don't know where you heard last year's version was supposed to be the best yet, but most video game experts didn't say that.
i thought '09 was a pretty good improvement over the last few editions. from the demo of 10, it seems like it makes a little bit more of a jump. flows a little better. and it'll probably have some new perks.
i'll post reviews of both games when i get them next week.

Looks like the cancellation policy changed, doesnt mention the refund of issues not received anymore unless you return the game and DVD. I just called them and they said you would get the game in 6-8 weeks.

A video game store in Bowling Green Ohio is selling the game as of 08/08/09 if anyone thinks the trip is worth it to pick the game up early.

I would like to play it but my brother's 360 is in storage until he moves. And unfortunately for me, there is no PC version. Where is the love for the PC guys? I know sports games are usually bad on PC. But with 360 controllers being used on PC games. Why not have a PC version? Oh well.

I thought '08 was better than '09. I only kept '09 for about a month before I traded it in. I didn't like that getting pressure on the qb was incredibly difficult even on the easier settings, didn't like the FA mode in franchise either. I hope they fix the online lag issues with last years version. Thought it was next to impossible to play a smooth game compared to previous versions.

ign has it just a shade better than last year's version at an 8.9 (which is very good) IGN.com 360 version, ps3 version is probably the exact same article. pretty good read. here is the breakdown of madden 10, and also madden since the inception of the 360. Presentation: 9.0 So good you’ll think you’re sitting on your couch watching a game on Sunday. A few issues hold it back, but most of the additions are great. Graphics: 9.0 Without the slowdown, occasional clipping and texture issues this game would be pretty damn close to perfection. Sound: 7.6 The soundtrack is a solid compilation but the commentary duo needs serious work before hitting the gridiron next season. Stadiums are as alive as ever. Gameplay: 9.0 Some questionable structural decisions in a few of the modes hurt an otherwise extraordinary package. On-field action is fantastic to behold. Lasting Appeal: 8.5 If co-op and Superstar were designed better, this game would have a nearly limitless lifespan. As it is Online Franchise, Franchise, standard online play and Madden Moments will keep you plenty busy. Madden 2006: 8.0 Madden 2007: 8.5 Madden 2008: 8.7 Madden 2009: 8.8 Madden 2010: 8.9 hopefully EA breaks the door wide open next year with a legendary game, they are certainly going down that path.

They're probably tired of it being pirated. I've noticed most companies are trying to steer away from pc gaming and are marketing their games more for consoles.
First person shooters will never die on PC though.

Tell you what, this games gets a 10.0 rating by me if they just make it so that I don't have to listen to Chris Collinswerth like last year. I seriously manually went through and MUTED him last year when I played the game. I can seriously NOT STAND HIM TALKING...

i don't mind collinsworth... he's really not that bad. i think he'll be a nice changeup from madden.
i really liked when it was madden/michaels in the game. they stopped doing it for a while, then went to generic radio play by play guy (which would have been perfectly acceptable if he were teamed up with generic obnoxious color commentator honk)
and tom hammond just flat out blows.
i wish they'd let you choose announcers. like jim nantz, joe buck, dick enberg, tirico, the nfl network guy, gus, etc...
or maybe, if you're a team with a crappy record, you get ian eagle, and if you're an awesome team and it's a big game you get nantz and simms.

If you played NCAA 2004, you'll remember that you only got Kirk, Chris Fowler, and Lee Corso if you were a big school or it was a higly ranked battle. I played as Toledo and Wyoming a lot and I seemed to always be playing with only the stadium announcer calling out the yardage. That was cool...I never felt like I heard the announcers repeat things over and over due to that "feature".
