Not good, DA.
Does he have a death wish?!??!
Rogers is like the LAST person you would want to do that to!
Not really, i'd take rogers 3 hours to run to his car

17-14 Brown team with 3:50 to play. Time to see if Quinn can march the team down.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

So it sounds like Cribbs had quite a day. Edwards, Massaquoi and Leggett were the best receivers. Still a dead-heat between the QBs but DA's blow-up probably didn't help his cause. Doesn't sound like they ran the ball much. Sounds like the D was lining up all over and giving the offense some fits. Rogers was solid. Can't wait to read the post-game reports. That was fun. I love Twitter.

thanks for the recap everyone. that was about what was expected except for the DA thing. i'm interested to know what happened. DA was "sacked" but i wonder if he was hit because it's not supposed to be full tackle. i only suggest because this is clearly not his MO.

Quinn throws 51-yard TD on first play of Browns scrimmage Associated Press CLEVELAND -- Brady Quinn has thrown a 51-yard touchdown pass on his first play in the Cleveland Browns scrimmage. Training camp blog Training camps are officially under way throughout the league. Get all the latest news, updates and information from every team at NFL.com's training camp blog. Quinn made a play-action fake, then threw a long arcing pass to Lance Leggett, who beat two defenders to run under the perfectly thrown ball a couple of steps into the end zone at Cleveland Browns Stadium on Sunday. Quinn and Derek Anderson are in a heated competition to become the Browns' starting quarterback. First-year coach Eric Mangini has yet to name a favorite. Anderson led a long drive later in the scrimmage, but was intercepted at the goal line by linebacker D'Qwell Jackson. Was the TD by Quinn a 51 yard throw, or a 10 yard throw, and Leggett went the distance?
Saw a highlight of the play on espn. It was pretty much a 50 yard throw. Not a great camera angle but the throw looked right on target. Nice catch by Leggett. The play reminded me of that famous Lynn Swann TD catch from the Superbowl.

********************************************************************** I'm going to jump in here for a moment to make a statement about the Twitter comments that have been posted during the scrimmage.
Twitter comments are not permitted to be posted on the board. I stepped back and allowed them today because there was no other option available today to get information on the scrimmage.
For preseason games there is TV and radio. Sometimes fans can find a link to streaming broadcasts. If not there are plenty of comments from members who are watching or listening to the game that those not so fortunate can follow along. There is also a free feature on NFL.com that offers a play-by-play which is another way to follow the game.
Unfortunately, for today's scrimmage none of those options were available. But we did have fans at the game tweeting comments so I allowed those as the only option to follow the scrimmage.
That was a special occasion. It was a one-time deal.
Tweets from Twitter are not permitted on the board and they will be deleted when seen by a moderator. As with any rule infraction, repeated violations will result in a warning or a ban.
I know this has not been added to the published rules yet but we are taking advantage of opportunities, as I am doing now, to let our members know that tweets are not permitted. The question has also come up in the Feedback Forum and was answered there.
I hope everyone understands both why they are not allowed and also why I did allow them today.
Please don't anyone get confused by my action or interpret it as a mixed message. I was just tryin' to help a brother out. **********************************************************************

Quinn's TD to Leggett was nice. So was DA's scramble and dive into the endzone. Ratliff had a great TD bomb to David Patten, too. The white team QBs had a little bit easier day, I think, since they didn't have Shaun Rogers in the backfield all day long.
There was one time that, had it been an actual game, Quinn would've gotten flattened by Mike Adams coming unblocked to his backside.

Highlight of the day: blonde in first row! No pics, sorry. REAL football highlights: Quinn's bomb to Leggett was a BEAUTIFUL throw. Anderson started off shaky. Then got hot...then threw the pick. After the TD Quinn didn't do much but he did have several 3rd down conversions. He didn't make the fatal mistake that DA made though, his INT wasn't a misread but simply bad luck. DA's was a misread. I saw a lot of no-huddle offense even in normal situations. A lot of shotgun as well, which makes sense because running the ball wasn't working today due to the lack of tackling. The defensive formations are a welcome sight to see...we're gonna bring some heat this year. Hell, I saw Wimbley lined up at Safety at one point. (or at least sitting back in 3 deep coverage with the other safeties) Mangini wasn't lying when he said they'd try to make the experience as close to gameday as possible. When I keyed on Rogers v. Mack, Mack was dominated, can't say I'm surprised. Massaquoi made some nice plays, so did Cribbs. James Davis didn't get many carries...then again neither did anybody. I'd say we passed anywhere from 2/3rds to 3/4ths of the time on both teams. I was disappointed to see that Veikune didn't play much. I'm gonna be very interested in seeing where certain people are on the depth chart come next Saturday after today's game. No one really did much to stand out.

Rogers owned the entire brown team Oline...dude was constantly disrupting the backfield.
DA's pass that bounced off MoMass's hands really PO'd me.
Saw Wimbley line up over the right tackle a couple times.
Saw Paul Hubbard and another WR run into each other on the play were DA scrambled for the TD.
It seemed like they were trying to make the QBs play to their purported weaknesses early on, hence DA making lots of short throws early on, and BQ going long on the Leggett TD. Later on, it seemed as if they were trying to set up certain situations, such as runs up the middle on 1st and 2nd to set up a 3rd and long. It's hard to assess from a certain point of view, because you don't know what they were trying to see and/or accomplish with the playcalling.
I left the stadium feeling pretty underwhelmed.

Was at the game, I'll give some impressions.
-Quinn is better at the longball than Anderson is at the short passing game. Anderson got baited by DQ Jackson and Quinn got unfortunate because Lance Leggett doesn't know how to catch a ball, which directly led to the Brown team taking the lead.
-Joe Thomas is a beast. I know, we already know this, but my God, he's a brick wall.
-Shaun Rogers is unblockable unless you have two+ blockers on him. It's not fair to Mack to say he got dominated when everyone would get dominated by Rogers. HOF talent.
-MoMass is our best rookie WR. He was targeted many times by DA today and had sure hands 90% of the time. Still has to cut out some of the drops, but he is a solid #2 right now.
-I'm beginning to worry about Robiskie's separation abilities in the NFL. Made a beautiful catch by Quinn but didn't get two feet in *rookie mistake* and made a few hot route adjustments on the big time blitz packages. Other than that, I didn't notice him too much.
-Saw a ton of Kamerion Wimbley moving around, from NT to both OLB spots to even safety at one point.
-David Patton had an outstanding game, making two big catches from Ratliff, on for a TD and the other where he almost out ran the CB only to be caught at the 2.
-Brett Ratliff is a billion times better than Ken Dorsey.
-I really, really like the fire that Eric Barton and Abram Elam have brought to the defense. A lot of times you could hear the defense get right up in the fact of the offense, once where DA threw the ball at Rogers after a sack and the other when a two successive running plays had Vickers and the defense getting at each other.
-Rob Ryan is the best defensive coordinator we've had since we've been back in Cleveland. Really, it's not even close. From what I saw, there is going to be a lot of attacking on this defense, including much more for Rogers, who basically made camp in the backfield today.
-Outside of trying to contain Rogers, I love the new offensive line. Big running lanes and would have loved to see what Jamal, James and Harrison could have done if there was tackling allowed. May have a poor mans version of the Giants Earth, Wind and Fire going on.
-Brandon McDonald is a ball hawk. Always in a passing lane and batting down balls.
-One last thing. The White team was wearing the Brown pants...however, they wore long white socks with orange and brown striping on it...gotta say, it looked real sharp.
-Okay, one more last thing. I'm ashamed of some of the Browns fans for actually booing DA after he dove in for a TD.

I was there too. A few things I saw (left at halftime)...
- BQ's TD to Leggett was right on the money. Was against 2nd team D, but beautiful pass...
- Rogers is a beast. 1st play of the game he blew through the line and flattened Jamal like a pancake. It was 2-hand touch, but he couldn't hold himself back the way he blew through the line...
- Dawson was kicking into wind in 1st quarter and both kickoffs were deep into endzone...
- DQ was all over the place. Making tackles, knocking down DA's passes, picking off DA...
- DA through a lot of passes early to Royal with only maybe 1 completion. Started throwing to MoMass near end of 1st a lot. Finally moved the ball then threw pick to DQ...
- James Davis caught a few passes from DA and showed some nice moves...
- Not too much running since it was 2-hand touch and running plays end pretty quickly that way...
- And some non-game action: A Giants fan wearing an LT jersey got taken out by security (I'm not sure what he did). I'd say it's gotta be hard to get thrown out of a family day scrimmage...

I didn't hear any booing.
I do know that some fans were turned off when he spiked the ball considering it was a scrimmage against his own teammates. Was considered hotdogging it He didn't win any brownie points for drawing the flag against Rogers.
The "photo of the game" that people voted on was a picture of Quinn...don't look at me, I voted for Mangini.

Another note about the QB's.
It's impossible to determine who "won" today since both did good and bad things.
The main distinction is that Anderson made the fatal mistake INT while Quinn's was mostly bad luck.
Quinn also showed off his deep ball accuracy...and yes, he CAN hit it.
Backup-wise, Ratliff is showing he's not Ken Dorsey. He actually made the most "big plays" of the day. Quinn's deep ball was more impressive because it was placed perfectly to the receiver between the corner and safety while Ratliff's throw was on one on one coverage with Patten torching McDonald.
I'm more intrigued by the way the defense lined up. I wish the upper deck was open to sit in because I hated how I couldn't see top-down on the field. But to me it looked like the defense was lined up in many different fronts.
Hell, Shaun Rogers blitzed from depth at one point. On another blitz, the D wasn't even lined up and came from all sorts of angles.
I doubt we got a good look at our offensive tendencies...if we did then you can expect us to try to replicate the 2007 Pats shotgun offense (doubtful). I DID like that the offense went no-huddle even in normal situations. I've been calling for that for years.

Who could forget about the legendary UFO defense that made Eli manning wet himself!
Then again if I saw Shaun blitzing I might wet myself too!

BS. You just wanted a better vantage point of the blonde.
I have a general question by the way, it seems like from the descriptions of the D that I've heard today, it looks like Rob was running a defense similar to what his brother ran in Baltimore. Is that true?

He was bringing the heat.
Or if he wasn't bringing the heat the line was stacked and we dropped back into coverage.
I think it was somewhere in between his brother's Baltimore D and the Belichick-style 3-4.

A few times, there were 8-9 blitzers all at the line ready to force the QB to throw after a one step drop. A lot of pressure on all the QB's today, including a few sacks.
When he says he wants to attack, he means it.
