nope.

kerry collins shredded the browns defense like it was his job. The run defense showed us a little something, but just like last years Browns Titans matchup, the score was relatively close at haltime.

we got our rears handed to us on defense

To be positive, we were without our best player on D.

i'm going to go out on a limb here and say you are talking about rogers....and to that i say the guy filling in for him wasn't doing half as bad as we thought he would. especially for a 2nd day late late late pick

sean would not have prevented Kerry shredding us in a regular season game. the reocuring theme is a lack of pass rush. while people worry about the offense. the pass rush is nonexistent

i dont see it changing this year

I think tonights biggest weakness on the D was our secondary. We could not consistenly defend the pass.... period. This is a running team and they passed at will. They ran well but wÞ limited that early.

They could pass at will because we got no pressure and Rob Hood sucks.

It's going to be another long year for our pass rush, and Mangini and Kokinis will need to rectify that next offseason.

you had a good run Hank.

My biggest concern is that when we did send a blitz, it seemed it got bottled up and/or blocked very easily. That's the same thing we saw last year.

Now, could it be because the Titans have a really good offensive line and a veteran QB who can read those things? Possibly. But we need to be able to beat that anyway.

Hopefully we have some good tape that can help us get our pass rush in order for the regular season.

I would line up Rogers and Rubin at DT in a 4 man front on passing downs.

How quickly would the middle of the pocket get collapsed if you had to contend with both guy at the same time?

....and where is Rogers? A mystery injury. Has he done anything lately other then ride a bike. The last i remember reading was he left practice favoring a foot/ankle-- and nothing since then. I doubt he plays in game 4, what is the point of reinjuring something- but will he be ready for the opener?? It will be a long day trying to stop AP without a healthy, game conditioned Rogers.

That's a interesting idea. That could have a nice impact.

I could not tell from the streaming feed but I thought the announcers mentioned Rogers on the blocked field goal? If he was in for that play, that indicates he is healthy and just being rested. They were saying it was either Rogers or Robaire who got a hand on the ball.

I did see some reference to a foot or ankle problem some weeks ago.

Was Rogers in at all on that play? One of the large, blocky blobs looked big enough to be him, but I couldn't tell.

With Rubin's improvement, I'm fine with resting the big guy, bur having both healthy gives us some great options.

I really like rubin, but I don't consider him a "great pick.". The way he dominated "superior competition" senior bowl week this guy should have been taken at the latest mid-fourth, probably somewhere in the third.. Anyone remember the post draft article where in the sixth round savage asked the scouts "can athyba rubin make this team?" Are you [not YOU you] kidding me? He wasn't even decisive or sure about it.

IMO, mcdonald and hall are clearly savage's best picks b/c they weren't even invited to the combine and are among our 6 best defenders.

Pass rush

Interesting concept. You mean to say teams actually rush the passer??

Welcome to the read world people.

The reason you play a 3-4 is to confuse protections and pressure the backfield. That doesn't happen with the DT's, but with the LB's. Since we don't have any LB's who possess legitimate NFL rush moves, it's only logical to reason we won't have any pass rush.

Get used to it. This won't be fixed without another draft or free agent signings.

***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy.

Which is why I questioned the Browns draft in the first place. The most glaring need was run defense and pass rush.

We did not do anything until the Veikune pick, and he is a developmental player who probably wont have an impact this year.

Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!

cuts are coming up....we may see a interesting prospect or 2 to help toward mid season.

still nothing to really worry about.....if we're not getting any rush by week 3, then i'll start to worry. i hardly believe Ryan has showed his whole hand yet.

We coulda taken Everett Brown, who may or may not become great. But the guy woulda given us some sort of an athletic, pass rushing presence at OLB.

But we took Robo...Toad is right, nothing is gonna change, we don't have anything at OLB. We arent gonna be getting one anytime soon either.

Rob Hood sucks

I live in the Phoenix area and lets just say that all the Cardinal fans I know were glad to be rid of him. Hood was considered the weakest link of their secondary. Hope Mangini sees the light on this one...

I hope we draft one defensive lineman in each upcoming nfl draft for the next couple of years...

4-3 Defenses rotate a lot of their defensive linemen...

why can't we do the same? Having an effective 3 man rush at the end of the 4th quarter is not gonna happen w/ the same 3 guys playing 95% of the game...

I hope we get a great safety next year too... a hard hitter w/ an Ed Reed prototype...

I'm actually okay w/ the LB spot if we didn't address it next year...

The corner spots should be solid as well w/ 4 young talents in Wright, McDonald, Francies, Lawson..
